    AEW TV Megathread

There were technical issues messing up the stream apparently so TK said fuck it and put it on Youtube.

There's always a place in wrestling (IMO at least) for the over the top David Crockett LOOK AT HEEM TONY style color commentator marking out like someone at home would. I get how he's not going to be everyone's cup of tea but he cracks me up.

Noticed there was still no MVP when the Hurt Business came out to brawl with Ricochet and the GOA.
  4. Jericho leaving is kind of a mixed bag to me. Clearly they don't need him in AEW anymore, and he was quickly getting go away heat with the fans, but having an OG AEW guy (which like it or not he is) jump to WWE is going to be a blow to the company perception wise. He absolutely should put over Big Bill and Keith on the way out if he's leaving, but I don't see Jericho going for that if he's headed back to WWE. Also my favorite moment of the last week or so was after the stuff with Yesca and Demoncito at Triplemania, the backstage interview person asked Harley Cameron where her Mini Mone was, and she just looked right into the camera and deadpanned "no one's doing puppets anymore". I blast-laughed at that.

Props to the guy sitting behind the commentary team with a Sid Vicious shirt. Who said the English didn't have good taste.

I love that they are basically doing a soap opera love triangle story with Rhea, Iyo, and Askua as the jealous ex.
  7. Maybe UFC since Rampage said his son had a concussion recently and shouldn't have been doing anything that physical. I don't see how WWE would have any negative effects from this since their only connection is that it happened at one of their WWE ID associated indy groups.
  8. I may be reading too much into it, but I think it was a nod to Nigel using Oasis as his theme music back in the day.
  9. What's weird about the rumors is that it's allegedly MVP who is "that doesn't work for me brother"-ing everything. It's not like either Big Bob or Shelton have any rep for not wanting to do jobs, and MVP supposedly turned down losing to top teams like FTR and suggested teams like the Outrunners (who I like, but come on).

To the shock of no one, Takeshita-Ishii was Really Fucking Good. That angry garden gnome looking sumbitch going out there beating the shit out of people is never not awesome.

I have to admit Max Caster "Best Wrestler Alive" has gone from stupid to brilliant for me. Say what you will about it, he got that over with the force of sheer will.

AEW's upcoming 2300 residency always makes me think about how TK said he went to ECW shows with his dad. Shad in the bingo hall with the mutants watching like Sandman and Sabu type shit is endlessly funny to me.

I can buy that Cena doesn't smoke weed, but the idea that anyone who spent decades in the business doesn't know how a bong works is pushing the suspension of disbelief more than an Erik Watts match. Also what do you know, Kross and Scarlettt showed up in GCW.

Winning the world title, having her dad play her to the ring at Wrestlemania, and now this. Naomi's had a hell of a great year.

    WWE TV Megathread

So a couple of things, Alberto is a babyface in AAA (yeah, I know) and their fans see WWE putting the guy they want ahead of the guy *they* want. The last few Triplemanias were terrible both in terms of production and in the ring, so by comparison this show was miles better than any AAA show in a long time. However there were some clear WWE-ized moments. For one, AAA has long had intergender matches (they even have a mixed tag team title) but in the 6 person match it was clearly men vs men and women vs women only. That's a big change for AAA since every big show usually had the "Antonio Pena match" 8 person tag where each team was a man, woman, mini, and exotico. Clearly WWE frowns on men fighting women, and I expect AAA fans, or at least the hardcores, will resent that. Speaking of hardcore, that was probably the lamest Pagano match I've ever seen. His usual style is basically death matches with bumps that would make Darby Allin pause, so doing a (relatively) save WWE hardcore match style is going to be seen as painfully weak by AAA fans. AAA fans are totally in on the joke with El Grande Americano. Especially now that they have a German guy pretending to be an American guy pretending to be a Mexican guy. I think the only ones who were offended were the lucha equivalent of the terminally online fans who just get upset at everything. Also surprised @The Thread Killer didn't know who Faby Apache is (the pudgy lady with the headdress). She's a legend, and a daughter of a legend. Kind of like a lucha Charlotte Fiair without the rampant alcoholism in the family. What stood out to me is how the announcers botched the finish by not mentioning Faby had a long feud with heel ref Tirantes Jr which is why he ignored the foot on the ropes. Even Konnan, who booked that feud, didn't mention it. The highlight for me was Dr. Wagner Jr showing up pimped out as fuck in his silver fox era. I kind of feel bad for his kids, who are both actually really good, because their dad is just overflowing with swag no one could hope to match up to.
  18. This is actually a pretty apt comparison. Two extremely charismatic guys who kinda sucked in the ring but were massive cultural stars.
  19. As someone who was 6 years old when Hulk first won the belt, most of the first generation little Hulksters are in their mid to late 40s now. I was always under the spell of Macho Madness myself, but I still remember one of my classmates in grade school showing up one day with a HULKAMANIA shirt autographed by the man himself (there was a house show at the Igloo that weekend) and he was royalty for the day.
  20. I suspect if TKO gets their boxing promotion off the ground, however that ends up looking, they will probably be streaming the big fights on Netflix.
  21. The craziest part is that it wasn't even necessary to do that either. Her music, while it honestly wasn't terrible, was about a decade behind the times of what was popular so it was going to be a case of a problem solving itself sooner than later. It wasn't like he was snuffing out a potential Taylor Swift in the making.
  22. He also more than once implied Kenny is a pedo due to his involvement with women's wrestling in Japan. Plus it's one thing for something to not be one's cup of tea, but his irrational hate boner towards all things AEW make me wonder if he tried hitting up TK for a job at one point and was shot down.

So Lash and Nia had a pretty entertaining big meaty women slapping meat match on NXT.

What's really funny is depending on what's up with Naomi, Stephanie might not even have a match on the show.

Well technically *pushes up glasses* Van Gogh painted that based on the view from the window of the asylum he was at in France, so there is somewhat of a connection.
