  1. Absolutely, if you never hear bad news directly from the boss then you're far less likely to go on rants that said boss is a racist pothead.
  2. A combo of not having so much tied in to foreign stars and Bushiroad buying them at the right time to soften the blow of not running shows due to pandemic reasons made them one of better suited promotions around.
  3. I suppose this is the downside of a friendlier working environment, the boss may be a nice guy and your pal but at the end of the day he's still the boss and has to do boss shit. Like yeah, Tony should have handled his response on Twitter better, but it seems like the people who were blowing her up saying her matches were good did her no favors either.
  4. There's no universe where Vince sees Tanahashi on the same level as Austin though.
  5. Folks really wishing for a bad guy here are weird to me. Yeah no one expected any of the EVPs leaving, but it is possible for two people to realize things aren't going to work and part ways with no ill will toward each other.
  6. This is probably on the same level as when they tossed JR to the curb. Any other promotion who picks him up probably will see a boost.
  7. I think Loss summed it up best on Twitter that the weird thing about this story is that there really doesn't seem to be any bad guys here, which is rare when someone leaves a company in wrestling. Cody saw the writing on the wall that his vision for the company was largely not shared by anyone else in power, TK doesn't want to devote a large section of his budget to someone who would only be like the 6th guy on the totem pole on a good day, and both just agreed it was time to move on. In the end, everyone wins in the sense that Cody probably will get a fat payday and TK doesn't have to keep bolting the Codyverse segements on his show that increasingly weren't fitting the vibe they were going for.
  8. It may not be fair because women who stand up for themselves tend to be treated poorly in society in general and in wrestling specifically, but there's been way too many rumors of Brandi rubbing everyone the wrong way for there to be nothing to it. She often makes statements that make her come off as Alica Silverstone's character in Clueless so I can imagine what may have gone down behind the scenes.
  9. Was requested to spin this off, so have at it!
  10. I really love how much Eddie is loved by the fans.
  11. I will pay in advance for any PPV with Mox vs Bryan, I don't care what else is on the card.
  12. Now that Buddy Matthews is supposedly coming in, I'm sad now that Cody's gone so they can't do a bit where he gets constantly startled thinking he's seeing Hunter everywhere.
  13. I'm sure jokes will be made, but he was pretty good in his post WWE indy run and at the very least would be a good opponent for folks in AEW.
  14. Cody and Brandi were pretty great in Impact, Moose's problematic ass aside.
  15. Dying at the thought of Cody doing "grandson of a plumber" videos to build up his debut complete with cgi gleam on his smile.
  16. Also the whole Cody/TK deal reads like a relationship where both people realized the magic was gone and just decided to part ways with no hard feelings.
  17. I don't see how Brandi would fit anywhere in WWE, they don't need her as a wrestler, and they don't really do the manager/valet role she's good at. Plus they probably only see her as a ring announcer because that's what she did for them before and once you're in a role in WWE it's quite the uphill battle to change their perception of you.
  18. Speaking of Kenny, he should probably be on his way back soon unless there was some setback with his injury recovery. Knowing how AEW works, probably the first Dynamite after the PPV.
  19. Famously the "every decision would be made by all the EVPs" led up to creatively the worst TV they've done and caused Tony to pull rank and basically name himself head of creative. Also Cody did get some unfair heat at times too. Since they kept it secret that Ogogo was getting another eye surgery, it made Cody look like he was Hunter-ing him by going over, when in retrospect it made perfect sense for him to win.
  20. The funny part is it's going to pretty much be impossible for WWE to push him as any sort of big deal without at least somewhat acknowledging AEW is the legit competitor they keep saying they aren't. Cody's not going to be buried if he signs for the amount of money WWE will likely offer just to get the PR win, and since in WWE canon the last we saw him he was just some geek dressing like his brother's gimmick from the 90s. Him being ackowledged as a top guy is an implicit acknowledgement of AEW.
  21. Armando was great for the role he was in, but I don't think it would have worked for anyone other than Umaga. Forgot about Prince Nana too, I'm surprised he hasn't come back to some indy in this recent boomlet going on.
  22. Yeah it took a while to get established since the tone shift was so abrupt, but they've really got the ball rolling now.
  23. Melo vs Pete? Don't mind if I do.
  24. In that shirt, WALTER looks like that one gym teacher who took that shit way too seriously.
  25. IMO Bivens is the greatest manager wrestling has seen since the Heenan/Hart/Cornette era.
