WWE TV 01/10 - 01/16 Is this year's Rumble going to break some walls down?
sek69 replied to KawadaSmile's topic in WWE
My personal conspiracy is that WWE was only cracking down on keeping people on medical restriction because they started doing that when the NFL was catching heat over concussions. Now that really isn't anywhere near the hot button issue it used to be, suddenly people who previously had necks and brains too damaged to wrestle suddenly find themselves able to be cleared. There's idiots everywhere of course, but I always thought the rap on Vince is that he has lost touch with what the audience wants and/or he's completely walled himself off with yes men who's jobs are hinging on no one ever breaking through to help him get back in touch. Also I don't think Vince is hinging on every bit of news dropping about AEW, but if you don't think he would go on the warpath if Dynamite ever started consistently beating Raw in the demo.....well.....there's only about 50 years of evidence available. -
Yeah as trash as NFTs are, at worst that puts the score to like ten million to one against HBK. Also I'd wager Bret probably has no idea what NFTs actually are and someone sold him on this as a neat way to monetize his art.

Kurt Angle was always going to get in no matter what just on the fact that other wrestlers are going to vote for someone with his credentials. Dave pretty much said as much when saying older wrestlers especially liked Kurt because having a gold medalist in made wrestling seem more legit.

They exploded NXT, sent HHH into exile, and cut anyone associated with the old style because they got thoroughly beaten by AEW. "They're not actually worried about AEW" is just something diehard WWE fans cling to despite the decades of evidence of Vince having a freakout every time another wrestling company gets anywhere near his in terms of popularity. I do think they aren't as concerned about people leaving as they were, as evidenced by the continual cuts, but they very much are concerned about another company catching up with them (and occasionally beating them) in the demos that pay the bills. -
There's enough of a backlog of candidates that it could probably survive a few years (maybe not 5 but a couple at least) with no new candidates added on.

Honestly Graves got a bad rap in his indy run by being dismissed as a discount CM Punk just because he had a similar look. I always felt he had the promo/charisma ability where had he been able to work with some better names and get the reps he could have become a big name. Not like GOAT worker level, but there was something to work with. -
I mean, it was going against the largest college football game of the year but even with that it's still amazing they are in the ballpark most weeks.

"Aspire to be Bret Hart" is probably the best advice anyone could give to someone in life.

I remember that now, I believe she said she basically faceplanted on one of those toss-and-catch cheerleader moves.
-
IIRC she had to take time off to get surgery on her nose (as in to get something corrected, not cosmetic) and that's why she was gone.
-
If anything i'm surprised they did the angle where Lily got torn up since it's such a great seller,
-
Oh I didn't expect them to veer away from it, if it makes money that's the only concern.

You would hope WWE would look at that chart and think there is something amiss with it being dominated with folks from 20+ years ago. To me that screams failure that of the current names on that list, Alexa's numbers are powered by creepy weirdo stans and the Usos are probably powered by getting a cut of the Bloodline shirts. So the only stars they've managed to create are Roman and Alexa's weird little girl enthusiasts.

I thought she was going to lay out Aubrey when she came out to break things up, and I realized that would have made Deeb the #1 heel by a large margin had that happpen.
-
Wasn't what I was expecting but they have so much time between PPVs its fine to have a few guys for Page to defend against between major programs.

Man the crowd REALLY wanted Wardlow to splatter MJF there, that was an awesome tease.
-
lol at Cody getting triggered by the dude setting himself on fire on the Go Big Show
-
BAH GAWD BRITT BAKER HAS JOINED THE UNDISPUTED ERA
-
MJF gets Wardlow disqualified to play off MJF "losing" to Shawn Dean the same way thanks to Punk? I think somehow he's gonna mess it up for Wardlow and that's going to fuel the split.

WWE gets criticism because instead of having the soon to be champ lose to a few key people, they tend to job them to everyone so the new champ looks like a geek right out of the box. Then once they are champs, they beat them constantly in non title matches and then seem surprised when no one gives a shit about titles. (obviously this doesn't apply to made guys like Roman)

Corey was an indy wrestler of some repute around here in his pre NXT days, he never really got to show much once he got there though. -
I'm fairly certain the next thing for Wardlow when he turns (after murdering Spears with a million powerbombs) is beating MJF. Just seems like the best way to cement Wardlow as an important guy and give MJF a challenger if/when he gets a run.

Something I realized is that one thing that hurts this version of NXT is because of how sudden the switchover came, everything seems so forced. I know you guys all love ol' Tony Baggadonuts but he has no business beating Pete Dunne. Just seemed like a fait accompli he was winning because Pete's a holdover from the old guard and didn't sell me on Tony being the better guy. -

Rey would probably be shorter than the average height where I grew up, but he looks like a child on WWE TV. -

TBH I think Trick will end up being the bigger star in WWE. He still needs more time in the oven for sure but he checks all the boxes WWE goes for (ie: he's taller) and is charismatic as hell. Carmelo seems like a guy who WWE will not see the upside in, and he ends up being the fucking STAR he can be somewhere else.
