The merits of Swole's work aside, it's pretty messed up for the boss to tweet like he's still shitposting on DVDVR. It costs nothing to just either say nothing or if you have to say something just keep it to "it just didn't work out" platitudes.
-
Wow, TK really responded to Swole saying she left AEW partially because of their lack of diversity by drunk rage tweeting that he didn't renew her contract because her wrestling wasn't any good. Which.....is not really the way you should respond to an ex employee saying they thought your diversity was lacking.

Yeah even if there was a plan to do that, there's no reason to have any confidence it would have made it to Mania.

TNT/TBS obviously loves Cody, not only is he on that Go Big Show, they also did that reality show as well. Dave hasn't said anything about there being any pressure on TK to keep Cody a face, but you'd think that keeping his TV partner happy has to be in his mind on some level.

I would wager the legal team (and maybe Big Dad Shad) nixed mentioning Urban, since he was fired for cause and there will almost certainty be a legal case about him trying to claw some of that money back (if he wasn't fired for cause Urb could collect the rest of the years on his deal).

I'm not one to push for more titles, but goddamn if any promotion ever was begging for six man titles, it's this one. They could have the most balls out trios division in history with this roster + guys visiting from AAA.
-
Dave mentioning the plan seems to be for the big feud to be the Bucks/Kenny vs Legally Distinct Undisputed Era once Omega is back (said to be in February).

Fightful dropping news that Miro was taking time off to rest a hamstring injury and that's why the only matches he's done since dropping the TNT titles were the ones he was filling in for Mox. I suppose that's why he dropped the belt and that explains why Sammy's reign seemed like it had no direction.

Toni was left weeping in the corner like she was Seth Rollins seeing the Fiend, making it clear she was the biggest geek in the (WWE) universe.

Funny thing is I doubt any of these NIL signings will ever actually set foot in the PC, at least not the ones they are hyping. Like there's no fucking way the Cavinder Twins are going to put up with WWE and Vince's bullshit when they have that kind of social media following. Most college athletes are signing tons of these NIL deals too so if WWE thinks they are anything more than a side hustle for these kids they are going to be in for a rude awakening. Plus judging by what we're seeing in NXT 2.0 it's going to be a long while before any of the women there are anywhere close to ready. They got lucky with Bianca being a freak athlete who seems to be a natural at everything she tries, because they've been shit at making any women stars since the Horsewomen era. Making their own product certainly makes sense in a cost-benefit scenario, but it hardly makes good business sense when you've managed to let an upstart company get closer than anyone has in decades by telling logical stories and having great matches and your idea to counter that is green rookies and booking that gets thrown in the trash every Monday afternoon.

Word now is she worked her match, bought herself a ticket home and peace'd out without really saying anything to anyone. I love it, after all the stories of Stockholm syndrome-brained WWE people who stick with a company that is obviously not a good place for them, she just straight up pulls an Office Space and decides she's not going to go to work at a shit job anymore.

Maybe I have low expectations, but after two decades of having a monopoly a fun but average show doesn't sound too bad to me. Like if this is what passes for bad then sign me up/

I love how Kyle's official AEW shirt has the black and yellow color scheme.

If Cody ends up turning Dan Lambert babyface after all this I will laugh so hard

You had to have a Judas sing a long on the last TNT show

Kingston not having any time for any introduction nonsense because asses need to be kicked got a pop from me.
-
Tony pointing out that the heel team has two of the best tag team wrestlers ever in Tully and Matt Hardy on their side is such a small but great thing for an announcer to mention.
-
whoops wrong show thread
-
I just figure if/when they ever change networks they'll just name them after whatever ones they jump to (hey the "USA Title" would fit nicely, lol)

Charlotte's in a category all her own at this point. Roman at least elevated others and had good matches with everyone. This isn't even like reign of death Hunter, at least he seemed to honestly think his 45 minute NWA title homage matches were good and no one ever got hurt. Charlotte is out here big footing everyone and stiffing half of them while doing it.
-
There's something charming in the "poor guy who gets money and dresses like a proto-rap star because thats how he pictures rich people dressing" look Dusty would sport. Yes it was just as ostentatious in its own way but he looked like a little kid playing dressup while having the time of his life doing it, so you couldn't help but crack a smile when you saw it. Cody just looks like the asshole in every teen movie that you just want to punch.
-
At this point I'm pretty much picturing Vince telling her that next week Charlotte would be dumping dog food on her and Toni just like "fuck this, I'm out".
-
Dave confirming Tony quit, and Fightful updated their story to say folks in WWE were blindsided by her asking to leave, but also that WWE isn't in a position to deny anyone requesting a release since they've been using "budget cuts" as an excuse for all their firings.

As someone who's video game nerddom exceeds my pro wrestling nerddom (which this thread is a perfect encapsulation of), this exchange makes my heart grow three sizes this holiday season. (Also @KawadaSmile , yes if you like BOTW, Soulsbourne games are like that except Link is having an emo phase and you never really see Ganon but just get a lot of NPCs telling you how fucked up he is)
-
They really weren't at first but really ramped it up in the last month or so. Also you have to keep in mind every time WWE changed networks it was to competing ones so they really had to hammer home the switch because the network they are leaving wouldn't. With AEW they are just going to a sister station of the one they are on so TNT itself did ads telling people to watch on TBS starting on Jan 5. AEW hasn't had to do the hard sell as much because the TV partner is doing a bit of the heavy lifting for them.
