  1. It was time for Sammy to take that next step, dude's the future of this company and it was time for him to get that big singles win.
  2. MJF bragging about having Brucie on speed dial made me laugh.
  3. I can100% believe that the Enforcer Arn Anderson was sickened to his stomach at the idea of Cody leaving his boots in the ring after getting beat. That being the catalyst to realize Andersons and Rhodes working together is a violation of nature makes sense.
  4. GET HIS ASS ARN
  5. The Kaz-Cutler match that was taped for Dark at the show I went to was one of the best comedy wrestler performances I've ever seen from Cutler.
  6. Only Bryan could get a "Kenny No-Balls" chant going like that lol
  7. Yes, the people who will threaten your life for not thinking Alexa Bliss is the greatest story arc of all time are equally as nuts as someone who likes the Young Bucks. The "I don't care for this, so everyone who does like it must be just pretending so they can fit in" is an interesting take as well. It is possible people might like things that you don't.
  8. Doesn't have to be an ex WWE guy, maybe a New Japan guy could show up.
  9. Bray is still under a non compete apparently so we all can rest easy for now.
  10. Yeah at the time she was released it didn't seem like a big loss, but once she started in AEW and *immediately* got better people were like "wow the PC is completely shit at this, isn't it?'" Ironically, had she still been there she probably would have been a big star on NXT TWO POINT OH.
  11. I think both the Bucks and Usos have great matches, but the Bucks have meant more in terms of business than the Usos probably ever will. Not that it's the Uso's fault because they are in a company that doesn't see any value in tag teams, but it's telling that the only way they get to be relevant in WWE is because of Roman. If it wasn't for him, they'd be on every PPV pre show facing like the Viking Raiders or some shit.
  12. Well it was only after Tay left WWE that she started getting good. It's less of "how did they let her slip away" than it is an indictment of how shit their training process is. I have a feeling they have something special planned for this show, since Brodie was obviously so important to everyone. Having this be the week Page returns to mend the Dark Order internal feud would be a pretty great moment.
  13. Some classic Dave deadpan humor on last night's show: Bryan: (recapping Goldberg's promo on Raw) he said "if I'm lucky, I'll kill you!" Dave: Well they're going to be Saudi Arabia, so that's the place to do it. fucking DIED at that
  14. None that I'm aware of, the prevailing mindset in the business (and society at large) at the time would have made that difficult.
  15. So is Xia Li injured or is she in the doghouse for kicking Mercedes Martinez so hard she flew out of NXT?
  16. Oh god, they are doubling down on the Joe Gacy gimmick..... someone tell Vince the only people who use triggered unironically are boomers and right wingers.
  17. You can easily come to this conclusion from the commercials, which it should be noted, are the parts they chose to include to paint the show in the best possible light.
  18. Counterpoint: The presentation of Omega and the Bucks is what dorks think cool is like.
  19. Elektra must be pretty good already since the last time we saw B-Fab in a match she looked really "not ready for prime time".
  20. I think you nailed it Bubba. Cody just comes off as unlikable, as opposed to Miz and Maryse, or the Bellas on their shows. I never watched any of the WWE shows, but I heard a lot of folks saying how someone like Nattie came off as a sweetheart on Total Divas and it helped draw more of an audience to the main programming since people wanted to see these characters they liked. Based on all the ads I've seen Cody comes off as a douchebag and I can't imagine anyone wanting to check out AEW because of it. I saw someone on Twitter sum it up best by retweeting a pic the AEWonTNT account posted of Cody and Brandi advertising the show and pointing out that to non fans it probably looks like a show about a former Proud Boy turning his life around.
  21. Was just thinking how Super Brutality sounds like either a Mortal Kombat finishing move or a tag team from Japan in the 90s but instead it's being used for a team where one person is rolling her eyes at how the other one is constantly acting like a goof.
  22. In a wrestling context, they did. The last thing people looking for an escape from WWE is something like Total Divas being advertised on their show.
  23. Honestly, as more people become comfortable with the idea that AEW is something worth investing your time in (as in won't keep making you feel like an idiot for getting invested like WWE programming tends to do) you'll see even higher growth. Wrestling fans at this point tend to be like abused animals where they just expect the promotion to kick them in the ribs so it was always going to take some time for AEW to earn the trust of the fans that they aren't going to get fucked over for becoming invested. They went from a million viewers as a potential high level benchmark to something that is expected every week real fast. People are starting to realize everything leads to something, everything will usually make sense, and if they have a misstep when something lands with a thud, they'll usually course correct and get it fixed quickly. IMO, that's when the fans turned on Cody. His jingoistic feud with Ogogo didn't go over well and when he just kept fucking that chicken it left a bad taste in the mouths of their audience who very much saw that as a WWE style "you're gonna like it no matter what" move.
  24. Yeah I liked it but it seems every WWE cage match I'm thinking how much better it would be without the escape bullshit.
  25. Wow, they actually remembered that Drew Mac can challenge for the title again now that Lashley is no longer champ.
