  1. AEW released Bea Priestley, Sadie Gibbs, and Jimmy Havoc. The first two are probably COVID casualties since they were stuck overseas and couldn't get to any of the tapings and Havoc is pretty much what we figured at that time (ie: he would get released as soon as his rehab was over for his #SpeakingOut behavior).
  2. He's a good heel, but WWE already WWE'd it up by having the presumed babyface Adam Cole and his crew crash the ring and beat up lovable underdog Drake Maverick. So it's going to end up a heel vs heel program.
  3. Read a tweet pointing out Velveteen Dream returned to NXT just in time for Back to School season and I think that's enough internet for me today, lol.
  4. I mean, different strokes for different folks and all that, but Shida's been one of my favorite parts of Dynamite as of late. She's not getting to do a lot because of everything going on, but she's been doing what she can with what she's been given.
  5. Wrestling doesn't have to be difficult, just have Jake Roberts casually do promos while Archer kills jobbers in the background.
  6. Plus it makes long term logical sense, it should make Tully sick to see Arn managing a Rhodes after all they've been through. I'm guessing the new Horsemen-type stable will end up being FTR, Spears, and ?....having Spears involved screams "guy getting turned on with the quickness" though.
  7. Tully is amazing, still a great asshole after all these years.
  8. Mike Chioda in the house!
  9. JR is still really good when the match he's calling is in his wheelhouse. The Bucks vs Smash Bros in a PWG tribute match would be the opposite of that. Besides, "grumpy old man yelling at the clouds about tag rules" is basically his gimmick now.
  10. In happier news, the finally got the new TNT belt finished and it looks pretty decent. I liked the old one's silver tone for contrast as opposed to the new one being gold, but at least it doesn't look unfinished anymore.
  11. Well major sports leagues have been able to pay to get into the express lane for testing, and Tony has ties to the two biggest leagues in the world, so perhaps he slipped Jericho's test in the pile with those to get the results faster.
  12. That was apparently supposed to be Cole's babyface turn, I guess it makes sense considering babyfaces are constantly made to look like geeks in WWE.
  13. What I've seen of her work has been pretty good, she just seems to be snakebit in terms of getting injured at the worst possible time.
  14. I guarantee you someone in wrestling will make a "Kamala Harris as Kamala the wrestler" joke then immediately take offense at how negatively it's received.
  15. That tweet is amazingly on brand for Lenny Dykstra. I would have honestly been a little disappointed if he didn't think it was real.
  16. Another fine example of needlessly confusing WWE verbiage: they kept saying SummerSlam is "one week from Sunday", which is technically correct but since they never said the actual date of the show it makes it sound like it's next week when it's actually 13 days from Monday (IE: almost two weeks, on 8/23). Why would the be so intentionally obtuse about the date of a major show on the company's schedule? It would be bad enough to do for a throwaway B show, but this is goddamn SummerSlam they are playing word games with to confuse the audience. It was a clear directive too, since they seemed to be purposefully not saying the actual date of the show.
  17. Ric Flair may be old, decrepit, potentially putting his life at risk by even being here.....but damn he can still do the Ric Flair Promo like no one else. Plus we need to have Randy Orton: Mercy Killer of Legends as gimmick of the year.
  18. Love Shanya wrecking shop on Underground, complete with that blonde who looked like she just came from shopping at Target.
  19. Evergreen post if there ever was one.
  20. Dom's dad still looks like he's 12 so he'll most likely have a baby face forever.
  21. Also holy shit I will never not think of this now when I see them
  22. The funniest thing to me is that they haven't even decided who's supposed to be in Retribution yet. Whoever was in the angle on Smackdown was just there to fill a role and not emblematic of who's actually going to be in the faction.
  23. WWE put up a collection of Kamala matches from various places he worked at, and it's actually a pretty good snapshot of his career. I always did wonder who was under the Friday mask in the different places he worked. I know "Kimchee" was Steve Lombardi, but I never found out who the others were. I assume it was just some random jobber from each area under the mask, but Friday was such a part of the act I always wondered if it was the same guy going from place to place.
  24. Ospreay is still in the UK so he couldn't be on a NJPW no matter what right now. He's being advertised for Rev Pro's return show and they are partners with NJPW so I suppose he is by association. And I don't know if everyone's "okay" with Riddle being on TV, but for one thing whataboutism sucks and is the main cause of the world's problems and secondly no one honestly expected WWE to do anything about it anyway.
  25. The idea of this tournament is trying to see who they can get to fill out the women's roster while travel restrictions are still in place, so you're going to get some not-great matches. I hope that it also makes them realize there are better options than the folks they are currently pushing like Big Swole. Since they haven't shown to be stubborn or fighting their audience like you-know-how, I wonder if after the program with Dr. Britt is over she just doesn't go back to the world of Dark and/or whatever the new show ends up.
