  1. Kyle O'Reilly, another person who was staying away due to being in a high risk group, came back a few weeks ago, so I'm thinking some kind of mandate came down that if you continue to sit out you won't get paid or something like that. I mean, Roman was 100% right when he said he couldn't trust his co workers to follow precautions and not bring covid into the workplace. Nothing in regards to that has changed, and presumably Roman hasn't stopped caring about his family, so something else must have happened for him to suddenly go against what he was so adamant about before.
  2. I'm happy for brother KawadaSmile and clearly it's something WWE badly needed, but it does make Roman look like a carny fuck for saying he's staying home to protect himself from his non-mask wearing non-quarantining co workers only to turn back up when they needed him the most.

    NXT Takeover: XXX

Yeah my main takeaway was how exposed the PC got by how good Pat looked compared to folks who have been training there for years. It's almost as if doing football style drills and endless weightlifting routines designed to blow your shoulders out aren't conducive to making good wrestlers.
  4. Even considering that context "She would have been punished for having someone break into her house and try to abduct her because her kayfabe rival was in the house" is also an incredibly fucking stupid thing to say. Like the above post said, I'm sure even Bill Watts would have given her a pass for this since it's not like they were out in public together. I mean, FFS someone was planning to kidnap her and do god knows what just to keep her from having a hair match at Summerslam, at that point it doesn't fucking matter what would have happened "back in my day". Some things are way bigger than rasslin', and Jim knows that. If he's "working" he's an asshole because this isn't something to play your gimmick on. If he's being serious he's an idiot who's brain has turned to mush from years of trying to own the smarts.
  5. Whoa, wasn't expecting Cody to basically get squashed there.
  6. Whoa, Thunder Rosa is here with the NWA Women's title.
  7. Maybe Jericho thinks if he gets dunked in a vat of mimosa, it will kill any covid germs he picked up on tour.
  8. Hangman killing his gimmick out here by drinking a Bud Light.
  9. Mimosa Mayhem! Surprised I didn't see that coming considering the orange juice based attacks OC has been using.
  10. Oh shit Eddie Kingston forming his own group, I'm down.
  11. Going right to the matches with little or no introduction is giving me 6:05 vibes as well.
  12. Tully on my TV again on a Saturday night just feels right.
  13. The guy who broke in her house was planning to kidnap her so she would miss the show presumably so that wouldn't happen. Plus Sonya will likely need time away to deal with the trial let alone any time needed to mentally deal with everything that happened.
  14. I thought Jeff was pretty good tonight actually. You can argue the merits and/or smarts of pushing the guy in 2020, but it was booked to be the "coming back to overcome the odds" match he excels at.
  15. I admit, I popped for Huskus' GET THESE HOOVES shirt.
  16. I was wondering this too. I'm guessing its either a "wrestling flies under the radar and no one notices what they do" thing, or they have some type of limited trademark to use it for wrestling purposes only.
  17. "Young powerful wrestlers trembling at the sight of elderly boss" is the WWE trope that keeps on giving.
  18. I bet this week will actually get a decent rating from people tuning in to see what it looks like. Not saying it will last or anything, but I would think everyone wants to at least take a look at this thing. The amusing thing to me is they *just* started an angle with an don't-call-it-Antifa group destroying and defacing the PC, so they go ahead and move the show to a whole ass arena decked out like an electronics trade show. If we're keeping kayfabe, Retribution should destroy all those screens in the first 10 minutes of Smackdown.
  19. WWE did a test run of the THUNDERDOME today, and pics of it hit Twitter tonight. Looks like the setup the NBA has but instead of just pre-recorded video loops it appears to be live Zoom feeds of fans. It wasn't too bad, just being in an actual arena again with real fans (kinda) was an improvement over being in the PC. One thing I saw from folks who were involved is that the fans weren't reacting like a live crowd but just as if they were watching at home (which of course they are). I wonder if they'll be like WCW when they were doing the Disney tapings and get direction on how to react when things go live tomorrow.
  20. You think WWE is at all aware that while Pat McAfee has been good in his role, they're doing it at the expense of making the guy who's been NXT champ forever look like a total J-brone?
  21. Yeah I would assume the plan is to have the fans sit in the upper areas to fill in the gaps and make Daily's Place look less empty since they have to compete with the THUNDERDOME now. Plus they were inviting people to sit in the upper bowl recently, which I assume now was a test run for doing this.
  22. Yeah that ended what was a pretty decent show on a flat note. I really like the Keith Lee/Kross build but it feels like they're doing this match too soon, since neither one really should be losing now and a non finish would be lame.
  23. Pat McAfee is already the best heel in the WWE Universe after like 2 weeks.
  24. When word came out something happened, I assumed one of the ladders fell and bonked him on the head. I wasn't expecting some quality 90s All Japan head dropping action.

    RIP Xavier

Seems like his whole career was several cases of bad timing. Was part of the era of ROH right before they hit it big as the premiere super indy where far less people paid attention. Was (according to Dave at least) was on the short list of several WWE front office employees to be offered a deal, but the timing was never right and eventually the people championing for him moved on to other companies. Saw that MMA would be a big deal when it got legalized in NY and started training for it, only for it to get delayed and delayed and by the time it did finally pass he was too old to really make a go of it. Was set to be on the Future vs Present show ROH was going to do before everything got cancelled due to covid. I won't pretend I was following ROH in the very early days, but it seems like Xavier was well thought of by everyone who was there at the time. I was always surprised that he never got a shot at least in TNA at some point.
