  1. Didn't someone (Shane?) suggest getting rid of the ring at some point in the 90s?
  2. I'm not a psychologist nor do I play one on TV, but man it sure seems like he has all the earmarks of bipolar disorder.
  3. Someone not long ago asked him how he can be a wrestler without painkillers and his response was "I'm not a pussy". Then someone else asked if he was saying every wrestler who takes painkillers is a pussy and he said yes. The best part is that WWE wants everyone to be their gimmick on social media sites, so him being an asshole to everyone fits perfectly with that.
  4. No, but then I've never used slurs at work either. I don't think something you have to do because you screwed up should necessarily be entertaining.
  5. Does Dave have something he'd like to say to the rest of the class? Yeah, it's really being slept on that while he doesn't want gay bashing in wrestling he seems to have a certain antipathy towards GLAAD itself.
  6. Speaking of arrogant, anyone listen to the latest WO radio where they recap RAW? Dave and Bryan believe the Taker/HHH/HBK segment ended with HHH and HBK having a plan on how to win the match, but when Hunter asked Shawn to reveal it, Shawn got cold feet. They mention that everyone else on the board (and everyone else I've seen talk about it) saw it as Hunter asking Shawn to tell Taker he thinks HHH will beat him, but Shawn now isn't sure he can. Dave's response? A laughing "well... they're wrong". It came off as smarmy and douchebaggy as possible, and ironic considering how often they bash companies for insulting their paying customers.
  7. The "color" comment along with him implying Rock didn't like a white boy trying to rap did seem to be kind of implying racial overtones, but if there's a guy not to play the race card against it would be Rock. If anything, it showed how awesome a heel Cena could be if they ever stop being afraid of the backlash of angry 7 year olds.
  8. It should be noted tonight's promo was the best Cena has done in this program or any other in a long, long time. It's unfortunate this is what it took for the writers to stop being lazy, but it shows it's possible to not have to rely on middle school "ur gay" type jokes.
  9. I thought Bud Light was pissed when Brock did his post fight promo where he said he was going home to fuck his wife and have a Miller light. Also I tend to agree with this partly being Cole going into business for himself. He's mentioned before he doesn't like Twitter and the "WWE suits" made him have an account. He hasn't posted an update since his apology that I've seen, he may have been trying to torpedo his own account, albeit the worst way possible.
  10. Scott Hall went downhill fast, mainly due to substances, also due to WCW afraid to cut him loose. Carlito was so demotivated they booked Ric Flair to rip him a new asshole during an episode of RAW.
  11. What was more insulting was Cole's "apology" where he stated it wasn't taken the way he meant it, but how many ways is there to construe calling someone a faggot? "I'm sorry everyone misunderstood me" is the most annoying method of saying sorry-but-not-really.
  12. The giant swing is another one of those spots that always seems to get a reaction, I remember seeing someone do one in a throwaway generic WWE diva match of all things and even there it got a "YEAH, GIANT SWING!" pop.
  13. WWE sets aside more seats than needed when they block off for staging, so there's always bound to be a few hundred available the day of the show. Plus the local radio stations get some of those too for freebies.
  14. I started to look at the late 90-early 91 Observers to check but I decided to stop and do some actual work after the first sighting of "Bore-us Zhukov" for some reason. This is apropos for nothing, but seeing this made me wonder if Chris Jericho was mining back issues of the WON for his promo material in WCW since I just watched the Nitro where he was talking about Dean's dad Bore-us Malenko.
  15. Speaking of divas, I thought I saw Melina get killed during the Superstars match taped tonight. They did a Bryan/Kim vs Kidd/Melina mixed tag, and Gail did a bodypress to the floor and Melina took the bump flat like it was in the ring instead of the usual catch-and-roll bump they do on the floor. Was one of the sickest sounding thuds I've ever heard at a wrestling show. Trish's bump to the floor looked pretty sick live as well, she almost got cartwheeled out of her pants.
  16. I thought it was interesting that the only time HHH got any kind of negative reaction was when he specifically was talking about ending the streak. He got cheered coming out, even some cheers for saying he was going to be violent towards Taker, but ending the streak got boos. It's like the streak is a third party in this feud and it's clear no one wants to see it end now. Also Cole is absolutely fantastic in his role. I was dying watching him run behind Swagger doing all his mannerisms. I don't see what the problem is with this year's Mania build. Sure there's no real hook other than the Rock but most of the buildup has been solid.
  17. I was just at Raw tonight, and being in person when Vickie does her heel schtick is unreal. She did a promo that I'm pretty sure was during a commercial break (haven't watched it on my DVR yet) and it was the most over heel work of the night by far. Like it wasn't even close, you couldn't even hear yourself think over the booing.
  18. Actually another common theme among people on these podcasts have been "it was fun at times but I'd never go back because the workload was insane". So I don't quite think people are being nice about Vince/Steph because they're angling to return one day. Even Lagana said he really didn't have an overwhelming desire to go back but if they made the right offer he'd consider it. Another tidbit that really isn't a shock to anyone who's paid attention at all to WWE, several ex writers more or less confirmed that most of the ideas that the talent come up with get vetoed by Vince because they reference pop culture and doesn't understand any of them. By far the hardest thing if you're a 20 something midcard/job guy trying to get noticed is to come up with something that will appeal to a 60 something billionaire who is insulated from pop culture to the point of being alien.
  19. Considering he lives a drug free lifestyle and seemingly has an extremely low tolerance for petty bullshit, it's nothing short of a miracle Punk's not only lasted this long in wrestling but has gone nearly all the way to the top. Also I'm fairly certain the whole New Nexus angle with Punk as leader came about because he was bitter about the SES getting torpedoed because Vince was pissed at Serena not keeping kayfabe on her free time. He seemed especially upset over Luke Gallows getting endeavored. It's kind of amazing that no one else outside of the very upper echelon could say the things he does and not at least get a one way ticket to jobbertown over it.
  20. It's currently on the front page now, that's what prompted my comment.
  21. Not too long ago one of the topics around here was bemoaning the lack of monster fat guys in WWE these days, and lo and behold Brodus Clay has become quite the effective monster even if his role as Alberto's personal asskicker is more than a little shoehorned storyline wise. I'm sure it's just a matter of time before Vince notices there's a fat guy on his TV and fires him, but it's fun while it lasts.
  22. Speaking of WO.com and girls, anyone else notice how often that pic of Christy Hemme ends up on the front page? It's almost like the default photo unless some breaking news happens. Perhaps Bryan has a secret redhead fetish?
  23. More tidbits - Apparently CM Punk hates everyone except the dude that had one eye. -Dave Kapoor (Rajin Singh) pulled a Cornette and completely destroyed his knee taking a meaningless bump.
  24. Spent some time listening to the "Formerly Creative" interviews he's done with other former members of the writing team, and a few things stood out: - Writers spend hours upon hours of their day in meetings that 90% of the time end up being pointless. - Vince will be 100% on board with the content of a show before getting on the plane, then by the time the plane lands the show needs re written because people on the plane with him convinced him otherwise. - Apparently everyone who's ever been on the creative staff has a Michael Hayes impression. A Vince one too, but that one is usually more flattering than Hayes. - Hayes likes to sell the creative staff as one big family that's one for all and all for one, then spends all his time on the private jet with Vince while the rest of the staff is riding the bus. - In the interview with the guy who has the fake eye that he popped out on Raw, he mentioned how when they were rehearsing the skit Steph brought her kids down to ringside. He ended up rolling out of the ring on the side they were on and scared Aurora to death because he had his (fake) eye in his hand. Steph was pissed but when he relayed the story to Hunter in the context of apologizing for scaring the shit out of his kid, Hunter thought it was the funniest thing ever. - They pretty much all confirm in one form or another that Hollywood acceptance is one of Vince's near-quixotic goals and almost every decision made is at least partially done with that in mind. - Vince is pretty much the best guy ever, if not demanding to a ridiculous degree, but practically everyone else in creative comes off like a self preserving douche. Even Steph seems well liked by everyone, which seems to be the opposite of the "she's a female version of Angry Vince to everyone" stereotype. - Promo sessions take hours due to most of the roster needing to do several dozen retakes. Naturally as former creative guys it was implied that was because the wrestlers were bad a promos instead of them being bad a memorizing horrible material, but Lagana did casually mention during his time at ROH it didn't take nearly as long to get guys to nail promos.
  25. TNA just posted this on their Facebook page: Looks like this is as close to admitting Jeff fucked up the PPV as they can legally admit to.
