  1. Very true, but it just made me wonder if Vince knew about Kerry's foot then and had it as an ace up his sleeve while he was sabotaging the card from taking place. It seems like a lot of people knew/suspected about it for a while, but after the DeBeers incident there was blood in the water that Vince jumped on. The fact that they tried to rely on an archaic law about barring people with artificial limbs from legit contests to keep him from competing in a worked event shows they were just trying to fuck over the show.
  2. Wasn't one of the reasons WWE moved to in-house production was to use non union employees? I also remember one of those shoot interviews with someone who used to work in production for WWE who stated that they stopped showing credits so employees couldn't claim credit for creating anything.
  3. From the sounds of it, rovert makes it look like Snowden trolled him on a message board (he's been known to do that) and he's mad about it. Unless by personal situation you mean he stole your lunch money or something.
  4. Dave really goes off the rails when he tries to talk about practically anything in sports other than wrestling or MMA (usually). His comparing the NFL to the CFL or XFL is ridiculous to the point of either trolling or sheer cluelessness, just like comparing MLB to Japanese baseball. One league is far more established than the other and has a significant financial edge on the other. It's like trying to say the winner of the Premier League soccer championship is somehow lesser if they don't play the winner of the MLS cup in America. It's not to say lesser leagues don't have talent or have entertaining contests, but trying to build your case by stating sportswriters don't get upset if teams of lesser leagues aren't included just makes you look like you have no clue of anything that goes on outside your own self created bubble.
  5. Sad to see such horseshit booking. You were expecting Lawler to win the title?
  6. Interesting seeing Lawler take the biggest bumps I've seen him do in years (possibly ever?) just a few weeks after having surgery to clear infection out of his knee.
  7. So was Tamina honoring Mae Young by wearing one of her ring outfits from 1939?
  8. Pointing out King Kofi Kingston wouldn't have great initials was pretty humorous.
  9. I was disappointed in the payoff, the bride and groom should have come out to Pomp and Circumstance with the groom wearing a lime green suit with tassels and a matching cowboy hat. Then he could have picked her up and sat her on his shoulder while he walked around the ballroom twirling one finger.
  10. I remember reading wrestling magazines when Lawler (or the magazine writers) was claiming he was the true champion because he beat Savage, Hogan, and Flair. Even as a 10 year old not quite hip to the business I was still thinking "uhhhh" at that one. I was willing to believe he beat Savage and maybe Flair, but I guess I was savvy enough at that age to realize there's no way Hogan would lose to this guy unless it was some bullshit DQ finish.
  11. I can't decide which is the greatest part, the best man coming out to "The Best (Around)" or the asian couple coming out to the Orient Express theme.
  12. Also ice skating is probably the worst offender (right after pro wrestling) of top stars staying around too long until it starts to get sad seeing someone who was a world champion 10 years ago try to compete.
  13. This is just awesome on so many levels: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xE24gFVY4PU
  14. I've been following the Monday Night Wars series on WWE On Demand, and they're in April of 1998 now. It really became obvious when Russo got control when they had an entire episode of Raw where every match either had no finish or didn't happen as advertised. It came off like Russo was a little kid testing his parent's boundaries to see what he could get away with. It also seemed that since Austin was printing money at that point no one seemed to care about the rest of the card as long as everyone got Stunners at the end of the show.
  15. Curt was one of the wrestlers other wrestlers tended to mark for. I think that's why he got the DVD treatment other possibly more deserving guys didn't. I recall it being mentioned that when they did Old School Raw, all the old timers were excited to meet all the second generation wrestlers they remembered as kids running around backstage. Joe Hennig was named as being especially popular among the legends since everyone was a fan of his dad.
  16. I'm surprised people think Owen's absence from this DVD is some sign of WWE quaking in their boots at the threat of a lawsuit. The painful truth is that Owen was largely a lower/mid-card guy for pretty much his whole career. Hell, even on the night he died he was set to face the Godfather for the IC title in what was sure to be the next ***** classic. Somehow his death has caused history to be revised to the point that future generations will think it was as if Hogan died in 1986.
  17. It's not exactly shocking news that Pac is a huge PPV draw, he kind has been one for a while now. The problem with boxing is no one but him and Floyd seem to be able to draw for shit anymore. That's probably half the reason the fight between them seems like it won't ever happen Once it does, there's literally no more match-ups worth buying a PPV for.
  18. Especially considering the entire goddamn point of pro wrestling is to manipulate the emotions of fans.
  19. I still want to know what Vince's deal is with pronouns. You can tell who's headset he's yelling into when they start saying things like "John Cena was just slammed onto John Cena's back" and it always sounds awkward as hell.
  20. I think a little of both. Rey was clearly set to win the title once they were doing the "win it for Eddie" angle with him. Orton was also in full "shitting in Divas' bags" mode around that time and I think that's when he trashed a hotel room too.
  21. What's odd is in video games, it's almost always referred to as "the backstage area". Then again, WWE games seem to operate under their own rules (for example: the video Bix posted of Edge and Christian reuniting in Smackdown vs Raw from this year playing their kazoos to Benoit's old theme).
  22. I get why the don't want to turn Cena, I don't agree but I get it. What I don't get is why they are dragging out Cole's turn so much. He's clearly acting like a heel nearly all the time, the crowd reacts to him like a heel, just pull the trigger already before it becomes yet another thing that wears out its welcome because they wouldn't commit one way or another. It's sometimes hard to believe this is the same company who at different times would turn their top guy without a second thought and now they seem to anguish over every detail.
  23. Yes it did seem the point was to further Cole's heel turn, but Lawler seemed to be calling his own shots just a little.
  24. Lawler telling Cole to have a glass of shut the hell up on what was supposed to be a PG show sure seemed like an unscripted moment. He's wanted JR back pretty much since he was taken off TV and didn't want any part of Cole's schtick messing up their reunion. Actually I thought JR's no-selling of Cole's attempts to derail him made the whole thing way better.
  25. I would imagine that if Delirious has a day job that would be compromised by the knowledge he's a wrestler, it must not pay well if he also has to be the head of ROH's school on top of his own bookings. Also I don't think too many employers would care about someone working indy shows unless they did some Matt Striker shit and used sick days for it.
