Wrestling thoughts that probably don't deserve
sek69 replied to Coffey's topic in NMB Wrestling Archive
You're the only person taking that silly argument at all seriously. Coming here to bitch makes you seem quite pathetic.I'm usually pretty good at detecting sarcasm on the Internet, and it sure seemed to me that folks there seriously think ROH is a world title because AmDrag is awesome and the belt's been defended overseas. And because Gabe said it's a world title. I honestly don't care one way or another, it's just the logic used in some of the posts over there is really an extra level of idiotic. I commented here because this is the thread of thoughts that don't deserve their own thread, and I don't want to get involved in big fight over there since the admins are randomly banning people in their wrestling folder in an attempt to cut down on the dumbassery. Hence my "I'm probably going to get banned" comment. I'll try not to shed any tears over your proclaimation of my patheticness. -
I don't get why they let this shit go unchecked. Taker, who is pretty much the only guy who can say what he wants and not get punished, seems to have let the whole "someone with a blood-borne disease bled all over me" thing blow over with nary a fuss. I guess that sets the bar pretty high when someone gets asked to do something tasteless.
-
Is is some sort of law that Taker has to have the shittiest opponent possible for WM? I mean, I admit Mark Henry's been solid since he's been back, but he's not worthy of a WM match against Taker. Between Giant Gonzales, Sid, washed-up Jimmy Snuka, let-me-job-so-I-can-go-to-WCW Jake Robers, way-past-his-prime Ric Flair....it seems the only quality opponent he's ever face at WM is Triple H.

Yeah, and hearing them say how much Eddie would still want to be part of the show as if that somehow justifies what they're doing is almost more disrespectful than them doing it in the first place.
-
I like it, TNA deserves a prime time spot and it's not fair to put them head to head against WWE right now. It's also smart since wrestling fans are used to tuning in on Thursday nights.

What's funny is Doane and Orton had a mini-feud in OVW because Doane was using the RKO and Orton came to OVW all "NUH-UH, NO YOU DIDN'T". Doane smoked Orton in the ring in the matches they had and that's probably why he got punished by being put in the "are they trying to embarrass these poor guys" Spirit Squad more than any ego problems.

I have a feeling this will blow up in their faces. The fans seem to really get behind Rey and if he doesn't end up in a Mania title match it's going to pull the rug out from under one of their largest growing audiences (Hispanics).
-
This is Booker-HHH all over again. You can justify anything a heel says if he gets his comeuppance in the end. Since we know Orton's penciled in for Mania, it makes what he says all the more tasteless.
-
A second hour in their current timeslot would mean the show wouldn't end till 1 AM, and I don't think you're going to get many folks to stay up that late other than the diehards.
-
Spike is considering giving TNA a better timeslot, 10 PM Thursdays, since they've met and surpassed pretty much all expectations so far.
-
I'm still betting Angle completely falls apart before Mania, so Rey might end up in a big match yet.

From WO: TNA set its record on Saturday night doing a 1.1 rating for the debut of Sting and his farewell speech.

I'm probably going to get banned at DVDVR now since some of the posters there seem to think the ROH title is a world title, and their argument why can be summed up as "ROH IZ TEH R00XORZ". I saw a post saying that just because a company doesn't have TV or PPV, that's no reason that their belt can't be a world title. ROHbotz, god love em. -
Best Street Clothes: Not the best, but I liked how they would constantly mention how Andre had his clothes custom made but he was always in those 70s tweed suits that looked like the seat covers from a Chevy Nova. Best Slide in the Ring Run in: I love how Jake Roberts would slide in the ring like a snake and sit in the corner. Best at taking/giving the Irish Whip: Trish, since she's the only woman who seems to understand the phyiscs behind the move. Interacts Best with other talent: The Rock, he could be talking to Vince or to the Hurricane and you always felt whoever was on the same level as he was. Favorite Illegal objects: Terry Funk's plastic bag. Nothing says heel like attempted murder. Merchandise you wouldnt be ashamed to wear: Probably a Japanese shirt, since no one would know what it meant unless they were a fan themselves.

Clothesline finishers are good when it's done like Hansen or JBL (or Nikita) where they really lay into them. When Barry Windham did that flying lariat, it looked pretty weak, just like flying forearm finishers like Tito and Terry Taylor used.

Coach talking to Joey Styles like he's a newb is really annoying, to the point where it's distracting from the match at hand. -

I was watching WM 13 today, and I really dug the HHH vs Goldust match. Goldust's one of my favorites and he made HHH look like a million bucks in his first competitive WM appearance after getting squashed by Warrior the year before. Chyna whipping Terri like a rag doll ruled too, and it made me remember how awesome Chyna was before she got her jaw shaved off and showed everyone her she-penis. Then Goldust showed up on RAW tonight and made me mark out. Someone book Goldust vs Shelton's Momma for the next PPV. The promos alone would be worth the $35. -
I believe he did use it as a finisher for a time. Lets not forget Sgt. Slaughter's Death Noogie he used during his Iraqi sympathizer run. Yes noogies hurt, but it's weak seeing a guy in pro wrestling using a move that you did to your little brother when you were kids.

Bob Backlund's Atomic Drop of Doom was pretty lame even by 70s standards.
-
The Vertebreaker, hands down.
-
I can't believe Kevin Von Erich's son wants to get into the business. I guess they must not talk about his uncles very much. Isn't it ironic that DiBiase has heat for being too 80s, yet they wanted to team up Dean Visk with the WARLORD? Who's more 80s than him?
-
Good thing WCW's still not around or Benoit-Rey would be an Eddie-on-a-pole match.
-
All Randy has to do is point out that the fans aren't really cheering for Rey, they're cheering for Eddie. There's potential there, but Randy doesn't have the charisma to pull off the needed promos.

Edge's title run is offically the most pointless ever. Did someone just have a panic attack when they decided to have Cena drop the belt or what? All they've established is that Edge can't win straight up against Cena and the fans still don't want to see him as champ.
-
Ok, so JBL, a guy that totally revamped his character into a highly entertaining heel who held the WWE title for a year....gets squashed by the circus freak. Really, I'd LOVE to hear the apologists' defense there. And apparently the Rumble match is now, so I guess the winner will use his title shot tonight. Which apologists? People who like JBL? Or the Boogeyman? I don't get who you're mad at there.
