  1. When they honored Owen, it was like the whole show was "Owen would have wanted us to continue the PPV". This was more of an actual tribute to the man. The only similarities I saw was Benoit's display of emotion reminding me of Jeff Jarrett and Debra talking about Owen.
  2. Piper looked like a 12 year old in Portland compared to his NWA and WWF stints.
  3. A lot of people think that only the obvious jacked up guys take enhancement drugs, but you have to realize that not everyone on roids or HGH looks like Scott Steiner. My favorite example is that Roddy Piper probably owed one of his hip replacements to steroid use and he was never a guy you would even consider on the juice.
  4. I tried to focus on the matches, and in doing so I realized that it took a tragedy to have Flair, Michaels, Mysterio, Regal, Benjamin, and Angle all on one show. That, and Shawn mentioning he never got to have a match with Eddie made me realize how much WWE wasted with all the stupidness.
  5. Even if it was pretty much a carbon copy of Bubba's tribute to Hawk, Cena laying the WWE title on an Eddie t-shirt and leaving the ring was a very nice way to end the show. Especially since they pimped Cena and Orton as the future of WWE, it was a nice visual way of the future paying respect to the past/present.
  6. Man, it was hard watching Benoit. You'd have to be an emotionless bastard for that not to effect you.
  7. I think at this point, Jake is the Keith Richards of wrestling. There's no logical reason for him to still be alive considering the sheer amount of abuse he's put himself through.
  8. I never heard stories about RVD other than the weed stuff, and Rob's said that was exaggerated by Heyman to get his 4:20 gimmick over.
  9. If HHH isn't suffering from some moderate to severe HGH related issues within the next 10 years, I'll eat my hat.
  10. I think wrestling deaths have slowed down for now since most guys don't party like the did in the 80s with nonstop drugs and booze. I do get the feeling a lot of guys now think HGH is a safe alternative to steroids and than in 10-15 years we'll see a lot of guys sick with side effects.
  11. Not to mention it makes you remember all the times he said it after Owen too.
  12. Did anyone see the press conference when the reporter asked Vince if Eddie's family would get any sort of pension? It look like he almost shit his pants, and all he could do was stammer something about them getting royalties forever. I'm sure Vicki will be able to send all 3 daughters to college based on DVD sales.
  13. I'll probably get dogpiled by the Bret Fan Club again, but this kinda showed how self-centered Bret is. He may not have been close with Eddie but you'd think he of all people would know what it's like to lose a relative at a young age. It just seemed like he was all "Yeah, that sucks about Eddie, and boy that Shawn was a jerk to me in 1997". What's funny is people tell HHH to get over things from 8 years ago...
  14. I could see them offering Benoit another lowball deal thinking he'll be too upset to fight them over a contract.
  15. Raw show: Smackdown: I have to say it sounds like WWE handled this as best as they possibly could.
  16. I guess that pretty much confirms that HHH and Rock never really liked each other.
  17. PJ Polaco, aka Justin Credible.
  18. From TNAwrestling.com: In a business as scummy as wrestling can be at times, it's nice to see sometimes it can take a backseat to saying farewell to a true great.
  19. Meltz updated his posting:
  20. Just wanted to add this photo, that I'm sure everyone's remembering now: At least he, and the fans, got to have this moment.
  21. Although it's certainly not the most important aspect, but this screws over Smackdown pretty good too. Not only does it mess up the Survivor Series main event, it messes up the title picture since you have to think Eddie was going to get the belt if Batista missed time with his injury. A great way to fix the SS main, and for WWE to show a rare sign of class, would be to have Chavo drop the stupid Kerwin White nonsense and take Eddie's place on the team for the family. Or give one of Eddie's brothers a one night deal to take his place. No one on the current roster deserves to fill his boots.
  22. Actually, most wrestler deaths (that aren't the results of accidents) are usually ones you see coming. You usually knew the guy was living a lifestyle that would lead to an early death. When a guy turns things around and still die young are the ones that get me.
  23. Fuck. This sucks for many reasons, the most being his kids losing their dad so young. I wonder if this is like what happened to Hawk, even after kicking his habit his heart was just worn out from all the years of abuse. Who would have thought that Eddie, being so much younger than his siblings, would be the first to go.
  24. I think WWE still goes by the policy since Smackdown is still on a Viacom network and they do so much inter-brand stuff.
