Until I googled them just now I had no clue who either Maria Menounos or Mary Hart were.....
-
I'd put her above everyone from all 3 of those clases except Aja, Toyota, Kyoko & Yoshida. Bison & Yamada i'd put on close to the same lvl if not the same. Takako behind but not by much. That was a team effort. Everyone stunk it up in that match and I don't think there's anyone who likes Kudo arguing that as a point in her favor. If we're only counting her 90's run, she only even had like 10 AJW matches period in a 4 year span and most of those weren't against top shelf opponents. Judging her career on that completely misses the boat and "she only looked good on FMW shows because everyone else sucked" is a complete rubbish argument on multiple lvls.

Please please PLEASE tell me that's POKERFACE of Velocity fame.

Don't think they were on the same lvl as Kudo vs Aja but the 2 6 mans, Bull & LCO vs Cuty, Plum & Fukuoka and W-Inoue & Hotta vs Eagle, Rumi & Harley were both very good. ...... http://flik.theditch.biz/wrestlingindeed2.htm not that I update anymore (for various reasons) and there's Youtube My buddy Doublemiz has hundreds of joshi matches up that get several thousand views http://www.youtube.com/user/DoubleMiz/videos and there's a bunch of other channels that are similar Stuff like that is what I mean when talking about how lots of ppl still watch joshi it's just that very few talk about it.

Heh, never even heard of this match before but i'll def check it out. Shit, not entirely sure if i've ever seen or heard of Cochise at all. It's funny how lucha is still one of the more underpimped styles of wrestling out thear. After all these years I still have no clue what the answer would be to such questions as "who's considered the greatest luchador of all time?" or "what are the consensus picks for best matches".
-
Just finished Panther/Casas Hair match, thought it could have used another 3 or 4 mins at the end as they were just starting to really pick things up but otherwise great stuff. I'd have it maybe #4 on my list now

Oh, that was simple, half of Sabian's gimmick is that he's a giant pervert. Since that's not the gimmick the rest of the CZW roster had they didn't work their matches with her that way. Heh, completely disagree with this. There's been tons of great female talent from Mexico, the US & Europe. Modern indy wrestling is full of talented girls, the Moreno sisters smoke most men, i've watched a lot of old school 1980's stuff and women like Lelani Kai, Judy Martin, Velvet McIntyre, Wendi Richter were damn good, etc...

Sucks the archives got lost for all the discussion leading up to the SC poll. Similar to the year book section on this board, all 400 something ppl that recieved votes had their own pimping threads and it lasted for several months before the actual vote took place. Which Kudo matches were disappointing? I loved her WWWA title match challenging Kong. I'm not doubting you, I'm just curious which ones. The first Kudo/Combat vs Toyota/Yamada match they shit the bed, The 1st & 3rd Kandori matches didn't reach the lvl they could have but I enjoyed them. Besides that I can't think of many other interpromotional matches she had that were disapointing. Not that they were all blow away great or anything but those that weren't were matches I wouldn't think most would have gone in with high hopes for anyways and a lot of the time she'd be in matches that exceded exspectations like the really underated Kudo & Yukie Nabeno vs Yamada & Ito tag. When across from a top name that looked good on paper it usually lived up to exspectations. The Aja match, the tag vs Hokuto & Bull, vs Chigusa, the feud vs OZ, the 2nd Kandori match, etc...

A thread in which Dylan compares various wrestlers to HHH
FLIK replied to JerryvonKramer's topic in The Microscope
Wouldn't surprise me, he's a glorified stunt man who doesn't know how to work anyways. -
Eh, that's sort of only half true. It's a weird deal whear lots of ppl still watch (if they can get it for free online), just not that many among the msg board posting sub culture.

The Jim Ross Is A Grouchy Hateful Vile Human Being thread

DDP said a few weeks back on his F4W interview that they taped a couple episodes in one sitting. Mentioned that the previous one was about more historical content so he didn't say much since he wasn't around back then but he was more at home talking about the celeb stuff for sure. -
Heh, now i'm curious for you to exspand on this. What do the youth of today think of the likes of Daniel Bryan and The Rock and Punk and Cody Rhodes and uhhh Primo and whoever else is around? Kids these days like that Michael Cole fella?

Haven't seen enough to do a good 10 but I feel pretty confident in these as my top 5 3/4/2012 Kazuchika Okada vs Tetsuya Naito 1/15/2012 Blue Panther, Atlantis & Solar vs Ultimo Guerrero, Felino & Negro Navarro 2/25/2012 Hijo del Santo & Villano IV vs Angel Blanco Jr. & Hijo del Solitario 1/8/2012 Nanae Takahashi, Meiko Satomura & Emi Sakura vs Ayumi Kurihara, Yoshiko & Tsukasa Fujimoto 2/23/2012 Fit Finlay vs Mal Sanders Waiting for the pro shot Panther/Casas hair match to pop up to watch it, the Jan match & the 2 IWRG Chico Che matches are on my to watch list as well.

Meh, there's other ppl who'd be good carrying the ball but the building was sold out and he was over as hell with the crowd so can't say the choice to run with him has backfired so far.
-
Just finished the match and i'm with Meltzer on this one, incredibly great match. Had a big match atmosphere with a packed sold out building treating both guys like superstars and going nuts for all the action. Went around 30 mins, never draged, kept me enthralled the entire time and if anything maybe felt a little short as they didn't overdo the big move near falls. Loved the build with them going back and forth with Naito trying to break Okada's leg and Okada going for a bunch of whacky lucha submissions. Even managed to make me think Naito might win for a few secs even though I knew the result going in. Limb work heavy matches are hard to pull off since guys have a tendancy to brush things off when it's time to get their shit in but I thought Okada did a good job of balancing things, selling things just enough to let you know he was hurting bad but not going so overboard that you couldn't buy him being able to use his leg at all. So yeah, this match is the real deal as far as i'm concerned, kudos to both.

Santo in general sounds like a real jerk/ego maniac from all the stories going around. Suing his nephue to prevent him using the family name, holding up promoters for money, etc...
-
Is that really any different than the Yakuza being involved with Japanese wrestling for years. I'm sure there have been mob ties with wrestling in the U.S. before as well. Yeah, stuff like that isn't that unusal. Listning to the interview now and the far bigger story to me is that Santo tried to legit trademark the fucking camel clutch so that he could take legal action against other wrestlers using it. WTF???????????
-
Don't think he meant it as a literal direct comparison, I just read it as "hey this could be the start of great feud for years to come" and then he named a bunch of other great long term feuds to illustrate his point trying to say "like imagine watching the first _ vs _"
-
Don't watch a ton of current New Japan myself but i'm gonna try and get to this later today. Naito's a guy they've been grooming for a top spot for a while in the middle of getting his first big break. Okada's a guy they haven't been grooming for a top spot but saw something in so they hot shoted the belt on him before he was ready to try and create a new star and now he's having to try really hard to step up and not blow his chance.

Actually Fuyuki smokes HHH based on his FMW run alone. HHH never had as great of a performance Fuyuki had going with Hayabusa for one hour. Bah, I still think that Fuyuki/Hayabusa 60 min match stunk, The HHH/Rock 60 min match smoked it. Course, Fuyuki & Hayabusa had other matches that were better then Rock/HHH but yeah nuts to their Iron Man. Do ppl still really hate Nakanishi? I'm a fan of his myself and have seen him in a lot of quality matches. I watched the 2008 G1 not long ago and he had a real strong showing thear for example. His matches vs Kojima & Ohtani stood out as being really good and he had one of the best matches of the tournament vs Tanahashi. -
I'm afraid we must insist now
-
Agreed. Has a pregnancy storyline ever actually resulted in a baby? Post FMW WEW did one involving Shinjuku Shark but then it got revealed the chick he was with got help from Kodo Fuyuki to kidnap a baby to fool him into thinking it was his. In AAA Fabi Apache & Billy Boy turned their real life marriage into an angle and used their baby as part of it.
-
I'm one of the few guys (around these parts atleast) that still likes him but yeah that's pretty ridiculous. Haven't paid the closest attention to ROH, have they actually been feuding enough to warrent a gimmick match?
-
Yeah Wrestling seems to get less and less fun as time goes on and the more you learn about. Candice Michelle and Jillian Hall suffered miscarriages within the last year or so which is disconcerting. Luna Vachon in her shoot interview spoke about the damage bumping does to your uterus as well. Can you imagine your significant other or the woman nearest to you ever doing some of the stuff wrestlers do? Not looking to scapegoat wrestling here and miscarriage is very, very under reported as it is such a profoundly private pain but it is something to think about regardless. Yeah don't think you blame wrestling on this one. There's been hundreds of women's wrestlers who've gone on to have kids. Either way, sucks for Kharma & her family. She's done a lot of work in the past helping ppl in diffrent programs so not surprised she'd want to open up a foundation for this kind of thing. I remember hearing a story the same thing happened to Tajiri's wife a while back and that being one of the reasons he decided to move back to Japan.
