  1. I've heard that too, there's also the reports along similar lines of Vince cutting guys off for not "keeping their women in line" such as Morrison w Melina & Drew w Tiffany. For TNA there was the Punk/Teddy Hart fight For WWE there was the JBL/Blue Meanie incident, the APA/Public Enemy incident, the multiple things Bob Holly did, etc...
  2. Judy Martin & Liz Chase vs Terri Shane & Joyce Grable - WWF sometime in early 1983 Mostly a quick squash for Grable & Terri, the finish is Terri back body droping Liz into the arms of Grable who turns it into a nasty looking powerbomb. Why has no one stolen this finish????? WTF?
  3. Lance Storm has talked about Strange Kentucky People a bunch as well and said he had a copy at one time but lost it over the years.
  4. I dunno, i'd say telling your kid/nephew/whatever "you suck so much i'm ashamed to admit we're related" is equally as big of a dick move as being the absentee womanizing dad. On that scale, I wonder whear the Lawler/Brian Christopher relationship of "I don't wanna admit i'm your dad cause it might scare off the young rats i'm trying to score with to know i'm old enough to be a grand father now" fits.
  5. Diffrent situation tho. It's one thing not to want your kid to take the family name because it would put a certain lvl of unfair exspectations & presssure on him when he's just starting out and you want him to earn his way in the business & stand on his own. It's entirely diffrent to tell your kid you can't have the name because you're a fuck up who's not good enough & will tarnish the legacy. For as crappy as David was for a while (he got decent enough by the end) he didn't hurt Ric's reputation one bit.
  6. I'm assuming this is the one you're talking about right? http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?showtopic=14421 You and well, everyone should really see the 93 Ultimo/Jericho vs Casas/Dandy tag if you haven't. I'd easily call that one one of the best matches i've ever seen. Youtube links
  7. So clearing out random stuff i've had sitting around on my hard drive I started watching Lockdown 2009 and on the PRE SHOW Eric Young wrestled Danny Bonaduche, WTF?????? Had no memory of this. It actually was pretty good too for a 3 min celebrity match, Danny got in a drop kick & a swanton bomb and the entire rest of it was him taking nutty bumps like getting press slamed & suplexed into the cage & stiff forearms & junk. Post match he attacks Eric with some nun chucks so Rhino comes out to gore him. Weird.....
  8. It would be fine if it was just an ocasional thing but it's been a pretty consistent pattern for a while now whear they haven't been presented as the most important thing on the show. Including Mania, the RAW world title Punk has will have been defended in the main event of a PPV exactly 1 time in a 6 month span. I can't recall the last time the Smackdown title got the main event but it's been much longer then 6 months. Meanwhile, without having either title, John Cena will have still been in the main event of 3 PPVs within that same time frame and of the PPVs he wasn't the main event of, 1 he didn't wrestle on at all and the other was the Rumble.
  9. Who's in the middle?
  10. So after watching the little bit that's available on youtube, i'd put the 2 Cutie Suzuki vs The Scorpion matches under the must have catagory. The 8/30 double title match is really good. Mostly focused on mat work but they mix in some cool flashy stuff as well and I dug how they built to the finish. The 10/10 rematch is even better, it's Hair vs Mask + the titles so they work a more agressive big match style. Both would prob be good recomendations for the joshi for ppl that don't like joshi thread and the folk that mistakenly think all it is is Toyota style spints. Angry Cutie is always fun as she'll just forearm folk right in the jaw. Scorpion is someone I really want to see more of as i've only seen 3 or 4 matches with her but they've all been really impressive and she looks like the lost great worker of JWP from that early generation. The kind who'd be more well remembered if she hadn't retired right before the 90's boom period kicked in, sort of like Mika Takahashi in AJW. Looking over tape list, there's a 3rd Cutie/Scorpion match from 8/11 as well which if it's like the 2 that followed would be worth tracking down. Devil Masami vs Itsuki Yamazaki from 8/30 looked great but it's a little hard to get a sense for how great as there appears to be a good 4-5 min chunk missing from the middle. Can't tell if that's how it originally aired or if the youtube uploader just did a bad job editing things. Part 1 ended with Devil in controll working over Yamazaki's arm and part 2 picks up with Yamazaki in controll working over Devil's leg so the jump cut threw me off. Both segments were real good though, especially the latter as Devil sells it like a champ. If a more complete version exist i'd def recomend it for the set and as is i'd still say it wouldn't be a bad inclussion. Dynamite Kansai & Madusa vs Harley Saito & Rumi Kazama from 8/30 was good in that out of controll, chaotic brawl sort of way. Little bit on the sloppy side but really fun. Not at all what I exspected going in with rows of chairs getting hurled at ppls heads and Harley gushing blood all over the place. Don't know if this was cliped or not, if so they did a good job editing it. About 8 mins aired but it's hard to imagine a JWP main event going less then 20 let alone less then 10. Mild recomendation for this. Harley & Kansai seemed to be feuding a lot in the 2nd half of the year as there's about 6 or 7 Harley & Partner vs Kansai & Partner tags that made tape + a big singles match on 10/10 so I think atleast some representation of it should go on the set. Maybe the Halery/Yamazaki vs Kansai/Scorpion match along with their singles would be the best bet. The other 2 91 JWP matches I was able to find, Kandori vs Yamazaki from 10/10 and Cutie vs Plum from 11/2 I liked as well. Wouldn't give either a strong recomendation for the set but they're worth looking up on youtube. Especially Kandori vs Yamazaki as it's a pretty sprited little match with them going all shoot vs pro style battle war.
  11. ...........Diego Corleone should be on every card
  12. Don't know who Elizondo is but Konnan & Konnan big have been on the same show a bunch of times and have wrestled against each other in 2 or 3 matches. Also, I don't buy that ppl are stupid enough that if you have someone wrestling as The Grandson of Santo whether he was good or bad that fans would get that confused with/accept as a replacement for/think it lessens or have any negative effect on The Son of Santo in any way.
  13. Watched this yesterday & thought it was a pretty good match. Ironically my one complaint would be that it didn't feel lucha enough for me (so probably is a good nom for a thread like this) as I thought the mat work was closer to old school US style then anything else.
  14. Listened this mourning, didn't get that vibe off of Ki at all. He never threatened to shoot on green kids. Bryan asked him in regards to matwork how he would handle dealing with someone who wasn't as good at it and he more or less just said he wasn't worried about it, that he'd hold up his end and hope that the other guy could keep up. Most of the other stuff he talked about in refrence to how he was going to go against other guys he sounded like he was responding in atleast half "work" mode anyways which he does a lot. His other points I largely agree with too. It is really easy to become a wrestler these days compared to the past, most of the home grown FCW guys do suck ass and in an ideal world, your world champions should be the #1 guys in the company so it is a bit harder to take them serious when they're at best going to be working the #3 & 4 slots on your major show of the year. Now, I do think Low Ki is batshit insane on a lot of things don't get me wrong but for this interview he came off fine to me.
  15. Can't find Eagle vs Lady X but i'm gonna guess that's not worth tracking down anyways, all the rest appears to be online however. I'll give it a watch later today or tomorow sometime
  16. Heh, def gonna have to listen to that one first tomorow on my way to work speaking of podcast, don't see this one talked about much so wanted to give a recomendation for ppl to check out the 3 way with Fire & Ice show with indy wrestlers Angel Orsini & Amber O'Neal at http://3w.pw247radio.com It's kind of like a female version of Cabana's podcast. They've had some good interviews the past few weeks with Tracy Smothers (starts slow but picks up once he gets going) & Lance Hoyt among others and their latest one with they just put up with Joyce Grable is one of the best podcast i've heard in a long time as she has a lot of great/funny stories about her time in the business.
  17. For whatever it's worth PUNQ & Quebrada both have some star ratings up but mostly for things in the 3 - 3 & 1/2 * range. Halery Saito & Itsuki Yamazaki vs Dynamite Kansai & The Scorpion from 8/8/91 got ***3/4 from PUNQ and that's the highest rated match I can find.
  18. Naw, can't be much help thear as I haven't seen anything from 90 or 91 JWP and checking the usual sources I can't find much about 91 JWP besides tape listings and a few matches poping up on youtube.
  19. Looking back at the original Observer report it does seem a bit fishy thinking about it. Like besides informing them they would no longer be producing TV for their station, why would WWE give so much other info to Bright House about closing the promotion and whear they were moving too and stuff, especially before informing the actual staff & wrestlers of FCW.
  20. Welp, this solves the overcrowding problem From the observer site
  21. Looking over the FCW roster page, they really need to either call some folk up or cut some guys. Having a 50 person roster just seems like overkill for a company that only runs 1 or 2 live shows a week and has a 1 hour? tv slot.

  25. Heh, so ran across this one a while back and thought it'd be fitting to post here Georgia Championship Wrestling 1980 Joyce Grable & Judy Martin vs Steve O & Jerry Roberts (a young Jacques Rougeau) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XnjZHS___vE
