  1. It's interesting, for a guy who was around for quite a while and had a fairly succesful career (3x IWGP Jr champ, All Asia tag champ, 91 super jr winner) he really isn't talked about that much. Looking though my own collection i've only got a tiny handfull of his matches including another sinles vs Liger in 96 which I kinda want to give a watch now.
  2. (All Pacific Title) Kyoko Inoue © vs Akira Hokuto They had a pretty good match in Jan which saw Kyoko get the win although it was a little screwy with Hokuto kicking out last second. There was the really great 6/27 tag with them forming a 1 time partnership to try and take the tag belts off Yamada & Toyota which failed when they couldn't get along. Don't think they ever exploited this as much as they should but there's also always been the underlying fact that Hokuto took Kyoko's spot as Bull's #1 tag partner after Kyoko broke away & Kyoko went on to become buddy buddy with Bull's #1 rival Aja instead. Lots of other run ins together in 92 as well so yeah, this is the culmination of a nice little sub feud that's been building all year. Early on they're quite respectful towards each other, handshake to start and clean breaks in the corner. Kyoko then slaps Hokuto who then drops Kyoko, hard, on her head with a back drop suplex in retaliation putting an end to all that nice nice shit. Soon as she regains conciousness Kyoko gets in a 33 rotation giant swing. The rest of this match really plays up the familiarity aspect between these 2. Lots of counter based spots and one upmanship. Kyoko runs though her usual array of wear down holds and stretches, Hokuto counters that and does the same but there's a lot of struggling to get stuff locked in. Lots of, "I know what's coming so i'm going to block it" moments. You know, it's a small miracle Hokuto never killed anyone with those jumping piledrivers she used to do, always cringe worthy and she gets a couple in here. Cool little stretch whear Hokuto wipes out Kyoko with a series of dives and Kyoko does an awesome job selling the impact and milking the 20 count on the floor to get back in only to be met with another attack every time she's close. Them knowing each other so well again playing a big factor during the final near fall section as almost every big move comes off of one or the other countering or avoinging another big move from the other. Kyoko regains controll, rolling though a cross body atempt. Kyoko's spring board back elbow is met with a drop kick to the spine. Hokuto's superfly splash meets knee. Kyoko's step up back elbow again fails for the finish as this time Hokuto just lifts her legs and punts Kyoko right in the bottom of the neck on the way down which did not look fun at all. Kyoko just barely kicks out but the NLB to follow up gets Hokuto the win and the title. Whole thing had a really awesome big match feel to it and they really steped things up here. They've done good things together before but this was easily their best and the 1st time any of their matches against each other delievered a true great home run. But wait, there's more, after a nice little show of respect between the 2 and a short celebration from Hokuto, more chaos erputs. Hokuto grabs the mic and starts talking shit on Shinobu Kandori (rocking the most amazing Cosby sweater ever) & the rest of LLPW who were sitting in the crowd. Kandori, Rumi Kazama & Harely Saito rush the ring. Cool Shiro Abe cameo as he's running gopher for them and fetches another mic. Kandori says nothing but Harley talks some shit back so they're setting the stage for the big Jan 6 man tag and LLPW's involvement in the interpromotional war.
  3. PUNQ told me once the exact amount that aired but i've since forgotten. Do remember atleast that it wasn't very much, like maybe 6-7 mins for the tag and less for Bull/Kyoko.
  4. Hehe, I have the excuse of the nom threads being hidden away in a locked forum that I didn't bother to ask for the password to until 6 days before the 92 set was released but MJH you should have steped up, for shame ;-) Anyways, back to the match. I don't think this is a bad inclusion at all, like don't let the fact that there were some other better matces that didn't make it on detract from the fact that this is still quite good. Fun fact, Bull being pined by Yamada in the 1st fall was only the 4th time she'd taken any sort of direct loss in 3 years.
  5. Really wish I knew whear I put it so I could re-watch this. Initial thoughts when I first saw it a couple years ago was that this was the best lucha match i'd ever seen, if I did star ratings an easy 5
  6. Always loved that moment when Piper revealed he was wearing a vest to protect himself from the electrocution
  7. Aja Kong & Kyoko Inoue vs Bull Nakano & Akira Hokuto Early portion saw Bull schooling Kyoko as her & Hokuto beat up on her for the first few mins. Nice reminder that she's still the lowest ranked one in this match. Kyoko comes back eventually and breaks out the never ending giant swing on Hokuto which is always a cool move then it's Hokuto's turn to play whiping girl for a bit. Aja & Bull don't have too much interaction in this but when they do they have a nice little battle of the big girls moment. The near fall stretch was really good and things finally end around 18 mins in with Hokuto eating a sort of Doomsday Device afer Kyoko elbows her off Aja's shoulders. Post match Aja gets on the mic to talk shit on Bull. Not a lot to say about this, kind of a really good house show match if that makes sense. They didn't half ass things or work lazy in any way but you could tell they weren't going all out either. Served as a nice preview for Dream Rush. Of all the joshi on the 92 set, this would be my pick for the weakest match of hear. A lot i'd have rather seen make the cut over this (and the other 11/2 tag actually)
  8. (Tag Leauge The Best 92) Manami Toyota & Toshiyo Yamada vs Sakie Hasegawa & Debbie Malenko Debbie the wise to Sakie pre match promo "I have no idea what you said but i'm sure I agree with it". 1st half or so of this match they go back and forth trading off who's in controll. Everyone in the match takes a turn getting beat up for an exstended period of time which i've started to really dig as a way to keep things interesting & fresh when you're going long. They work things at a pretty even pace and stay on the same page too with even Toyota reigning herself in a little bit and resisting the urge to just massively spaz out as she's want to do. They kick it up a notch around the 20 min mark with Toyota & Yamada breaking out a long stretch of double teams and big moves as Toyota finally gets to go nuts and release all her built up energy. Every time they look to finish Debbie though Sakie's able to rush in to make the save. For really the only time in the match they kind of give away that this is ending in a draw as like 25 mins in Sakie starts working a camel clutch spot, slowing down the momentum but that doesn't last too long and they go right back working the near falls. Fun moment as the crowd, which has been kind of quiet tonight starts really getting into things and hoping for an upset win so they start booing the heck out of Yamada & Toyota for breaking up all of Sakie & Debs pinfall or submission attempts. Sakie goes all exploder crazy on Yamada and almost gets the win but alas time exspires, and fuck, they even had me screaming "come on, you can do it :)" near the end hoping they'd pull out the victory. Debbie the wise post match promo "definatly a rush, a team with no belts going against a team with 2 belts and going to a time limit draw, thats something to say, I think next time we might get em" Really good match that managed to avoid suffering from a lot of the issues that often crop up when going the time limit
  9. Sometimes (a lot of the time), in draws it becomes really blatantly obvious that they're trying to stretch things out and kill time, not wrestling like they would normally but any time these 2 worked each other they always went long so it felt more natural that things progressed the way they did which I always liked about their feud.
  10. (Bull Nakano 10th Anniversary match - 2/3 Falls) Bull Nakano, Aja Kong & Kyoko Inoue vs Toshiyo Yamada, Yumiko Hotta & Mariko Yoshida Zany hijinx to start this off. Everyone chases Kyoko until they she hides behind Bull and no one wants a parth of that. Hotta steps up and gets doinked by Miss Nakano, Yoshida fairs even worse and gets dinked. Aja & Bull do then bust out the freakin leap frog onto your opponent hanging off the ropes spot and uhhhh...yeah, bad times for Yoshida. Goku Jack beat up Yoshida a while longer until she's able to break out the monkey flip on Bull to escape her torture. Yamada has a go of it and continues the fine tradition of getting her team getting their butt kicked. Hotta finally gets to come in and play wreckin ball but that doesn't last long. Yoshida & Yamada back to playing the game of who can get crushed the bestest. All 3 try and triple drop kick on Bull and she just shrugs it off, double suplex attempt not so much as Yamada breaks out the surpise roll up win over Bull to take the 1st fall. Short 2nd fall as Aja comes in and smashes all in her path. They grab Yoshida for some triple team action and Kyoko ends it with the flying back elbow. 3rd fall sees everyone bouning all over as they go fighting around the arena. Aja goes bowling for camera men using Yoshida as the ball. She gets a full strike and everything. Back inside long stretch of near falls, awesome mini segment between Yoshida & Kyoko. ending comes when Aja hits a big splash on Hotta followed by Bull droping the leg. Yamada saves...barely, only prolonging the agony. One more leg drop from Bull and it's over. Happy ending for the special girl on her special night. Hokuto comes out at the end to give her more flowers as they gear up to kick some FMW butt soon. Really good match as everyone was on for this one.
  11. Well, things for sure picked up in the 2nd half but there was a fair amount of good to great stuff in the 1st (though not all of it made the set) so I wouldn't call it faint praise. I'm almost done w 92 AJW (up to early Nov) and i'd still have this in or atleast not too far out of the 10.
  12. Heh, i'd def argue the 11/90 cage match but yeah, Aja vs Bull feud was made by the tag matches mostly.
  13. Tak/Hokuto was kinda fun for a squash and it started the LCO angle but yeah, pretty much a 1 match card. Mostly agree but wouldn't go quite that far. More like near disaster The early stuff was abysmal but they saved the match nicely by the end once they gave up on trying to play luchadoras and went back to working what they were good at. Funny as Yoshida actually got pretty good at incorporating lucha style later on in the year. Moreno tag easy, the above match is great but I thought 4/91 was legit one of the best matches i've ever seen.
  14. - (IWA Title - Hair vs Hair) Manami Toyota © vs Toshiyo Yamada One of the most famous matches in wrestling history so doesn't need much detailed play by play from me on this one I suspect most people reading this have allready seen it and if you haven't then WTF? GO WATCH IT NOW. It's by far deserving all of the praise it's gotten over the years. Aside from a small slower paced section in the middle of the match this is 20+ mins of non stop, all out high end action with a super hot crowd going nuts throughout cheering on both though you can actually tell they'd rather see Toyota win even if they do love Yamada too. In the end it comes down to a battle of the Japanese Ocean Cyclone Suplex vs The Gori Special Bomb with both attempting to hit their big moves and playing off their previous match, this time it's Toyota who has Yamada's figured out as she manages to escape and hit the JOCS to win. You know, following this whole story from the start, Toyota really comes across like an ass in this whole thing. It all started because Toyota couldn't handle losing so she snaped and challenged one of her best friends in the world and tag team partner not only for her title but for her hair, really out of nothing more then jealousy and ego. Knowing this, it kind of explains the post match as Toyota snaps again with the gravity of what she's done finally hitting her. There was no need for it to have come to this. Toyota breaks down, attempts to cut her own hair instead and desperatly tries to prevent the barber from shaving Yamada only to be held down by 6 or 7 other girls as it happens. One of the more emotional sceens you'll ever see in a wrestling ring. Course, knowing that Chigusa was her idol, you know deep down Yamada was probably loving every second of this too.
  15. - (Fuji TV Tag Tournament FINAL) Bull Nakano & Aja Kong vs Toshiyo Yamada & Akira Hokuto A match they've been building up to heavily over the past few shows. It's enemies now friends Aja & Bull vs friends or atleast people who were on friendly enough terms now enemies Hokuto & Yamada. They waste no time selling you on this story in case you didn't know going in as Hokuto & Yamada get in a fight before the match even starts during pre match interviews. Meanwhile Aja & Bull are on the same page and act all stoic and scary in the back or atleast try to. In a funny moment you can actually see Aja half crack a smile while trying to mean mug the camera. Aja & Bull get straight to it as the match starts, they both bust out with Aja's sig palm strikes and follow it up with a bunch more double teams. Yamada gets mauled for a while only managing to lightly fight back. She gets in a small cradle which Aja counters by biting her in the stomach, yup, not going to be a good night for her tonight. Hokuto comes in and fares little better against the 2 monsters so she decides to grab a weapon to even things up a bit because really, when you're fighting Aja Kong & Bull Nakano at the same time it's only fair that you should be allowed to use a kendo stick or 2 or a gun, either or. Goody goody Yamada objects to this plan and gets in an argument with her partner, telling her to knock it off. Yamada hops back in and is like "I got this" and wails away with some quite stiff leg kicks on Bull, actually managing to get her down and follow it up with a few submission attempts. Hokuto again comes in and again Bull & Aja kick her butt so again she goes for the Kendo stick with Yamada trying to stop her, this time leading to a brawl between the tag partners. Aja & Bull take advantage and crush the pair with dives as things break down into a chaotic arena brawl. Hokuto eats a piledriver through the announcers table in a highlight. Back inside more fighting between Hokuto & Yamada leads to Aja cracking them both with trash can shots. Little later Yamada's had enough of this shit and short arms Hokuto on the tag, refusing to get in making Hokuto fight it alone for a bit. She actually manages to drop Bull with the NLB but it's not enough to win. Yamada finally comes back in only with no tag as aparently the ref decideds "fuck it, go ahead anyways kid" and doesn't make her leave the ring. She cleans house and Hokuto actually helps her out and it looks like they may finally be working things out but that doesn't last long, Yamada to accidently hit her with the diving enzugiri. Bull & Aja then toss Yamada aside and follow up on Hokuto, Bull hits her guiloteen leg drop and then tells Aja to go up top and HOLY SHIT, she hits a flying leg drop of her own and yeah, no one is getting up from that. Gigantic celebration post match with hugs and smiles all around as the crowd goes ape shit. Once she regains conciousness Hokuto goes after Yamada one more time and they brawl to the back at which poing Aja gets on the mic and says I believe "hey you 2, stop fucking up our victory party" and then the celebration continues. Aja & Bull congragulate each other for a job well, declare they will dominate over the entire tag division now and agree to be bffs for life. Course, Aja also reminds Bull she's coming for her 3WA title too but Bull just smiles and is like "Nawwwwwwww, don't think so". Amazing match, great wrestling, great story. AJW really was one of the best booked promotions in the world at this time.
  16. (JGP 92 Semi Final) Manami Toyota vs Mariko Yoshida Picture's worth 1000 words and the pouty look on Kyoko's face as she sits on the sidelines doing commentary for this says it all about what she's thinking. Basic speed/flash vs technical battle to start this off which sees Yoshida come out on the winning side as she steals Kyoko's strategy from earlier and works over Toyota's back & legs for a while. As she's want to do on many an ocasion, Toyota says screw that mess and once given the chance turns things into her "style" of match. This would be a really annoying trait to have except that 99% of the time her style of match usually kicks ass so she can get away with it and this was no exception. Yoshida, can more then keep up with her in that department and infact ends up outshining Toyota here and regains controll of the match. Match then becomes a super long stretch of near falls as they bust out every suplex, dive and cradle you can imagine. Big highlight for me was watching them bust out the Malenko/Guerrero roll up spot years before Malenko & Guerrero were doing it. Fans not particularly cheering on either one in this match but they're popping huge for all the big moves making for a great atmosphere. Toyota plays dream crusher tonight and puts away Yoshida to win with a hamerlock german suplex. Post match Yoshida does get a huge amount of cheers from the crowd for her effort while Toyota waste no time on celebrating as she rushes to the back knowing she's going to have to come out again next. Another really good match.
  17. (No Time Limit) Manami Toyota vs Toshiyo Yamada 12/9/89 30 minute draw, 9/7/91 30 minute draw, 1/4/92 40 minute draw and so it comes to this, no time limit, main event, there must be a winner. Funny moment on commentary as Fumi remarks "So the male fans will be more for Toyota OF COURSE, while the wrestling fans will be more for Yamada" and Debbie craps all over his theory in a polite manner saying how great Toyota is in the ring so the "wrestling" fans will be split too. Match starts at a really fast pace as Toyota immediatly gets the rolling cradle but then things slow down for a while, they go back and forth with no one having the advantage for too long. Yamada attacks the leg but it doesn't go anywhear and after Toyota catches her foot mid kick she locks in a leg bar and turns the time. Yamada gets the ropes but she won't break, they roll outside to the floor with the hold still on and Toyota still won't break for a while. Once she does Toyota hurls her through the 1st 4 rows of chairs. Back in the ring, Toyota tries to turn it into more her style of match, hitting a billion drop kicks from all angles but Yamada shuts that shit down with a couple kicks to the head and starts stretching her on the mat. Anouncers make mention of something I noticed in their last match, that Yamada doesn't really have a lot of big moves in her arsenal though they do play up that what Yamada does do, while simpler is really effective. She'll just kick your head in essentially. Debbie also name drops Lex Luger and compares one for the moves Yamada does to the torture rack, so so wish they'd have put her in the booth more often. Toyota gets sick of playing human kick bag and hauls off and punches Yamada upside the head. Match goes outside and Toyota goes splat on a missed dive attempt, taking out a young girl working ring duty. Yamada hits a leaping spin kick off the apron to follow up. Back inside match turns back into a sprint, lot of superplexes and other big moves getting tossed out now. Yamada's working this a lot more aggressive then she did back in January, staying on Toyota with a lot more fury. No stalling for time, hesitation or confusion her part this time. Yamada with the dragon suplex can't get it, Toyota with 3 germans can't get it. Back outside again Toyota with the fucking insane spring board moonsault off the middle of the top rope nearly landing face first on the apron on the way down but she survives. Anouncers bringing up that a lot of Toyota's flashy shit doesn't always register as well with the fans because she does it so effortlessly and fast in an interesting point. Debbie's also pushing heavily how well these 2 know each other being tag partners so they can predict what the other's about to do and that's what becomes the story for the final part of the match. Lots more counter spots, back and forth, Toyota goes for another moonsault but eats knee. Yamada with a series of diving brain kicks for 2. Toyota hitting crazy ass suplexes i've never even seen before but just getting 2. She finally decideds to pull out the JOCS but Yamada has that shit scouted, she escapes and counters with a similar move of her own and FINALLY gets the win over her eternal rival & friend. Awesome match, easily their best yet up to this point. Fans who for the most part hadn't been cheering on either one over the other erupt in a giant Yamada chant to celebrate her victory. Manami Toyota doesn't let her long time tag partner and BFF have her moment in the sun for long though, there's no hug, there's no handshake, Toyota is not a gracious loser. 4 matches, 126+ minutes, spread out over almost 3 years to get a winner in a singles match between these 2 and Toyota can not stand that it's not her so she snaps. She gets on the mic in near tears and challenges Yamada for 1 more match and tells her not only will she put up her IWA title this time time, she'll also put her hair on the line as well. Yamada excepts and we've got hair vs hair.
  18. Bull Nakano & Akira Hokuto vs Takako Inoue & Kyoko Inoue Best I can tell this is the first time W-Inoue teamed up together not counting a 6 woman tag in 89. Soooooo remember 3 months ago when Hokuto crushed Takako like a bug in a few short minutes? "Takako's going to be a handicap" says Debbie the Wise. Story of the match is pretty much a repeat of that. Bull & Hokuto beat the dog crap out of Takako, though the english commentary we learn that Bull's talking crap to her while doing it to boot. Egging her on to put up more of a fight and not be such a loser. Kyoko on the other hand beat Hokuto the last time they met in singles and while she's never beaten Bull she has always held her own against her. Here though things don't go so well, Kyoko gets some good shots in but there's no way she can't fight off both of them alone and it proves too much as she largely gets her ass kicked here as well. "You can tell this isn't a tough match for Bull, her hairs not even messed up yet" says Fumi Saito(?), the bi lingual commentator who's always on these shows and is translating for Debbie. Takako is able to break up a few near pin falls but that's about all she's good for during the home stretch. Hokuto drops Kyoko with the NLB and she breaks that up so Hokuto gives Takako one of her own while Bull drops the leg on Kyoko and we get a double pin to complete the humiliation and destruction of W-Inoue on this fine night. They really put this over as Kyoko failing because she had such a weak partner though. So the coolest ass whoping glorified squash ever. Loved this quite a lot.
  19. (JGP 92) Aja Kong vs Bison Kimura Added bonus, Debbie Malenko is in the booth doing commentary in english for the rest of the show. Soooooo remember in last years JGP these two met, beat the shit out of each other and then Bison riped apart Aja's bad ankle that she came into the match with and made her submit? Aja does and revenge is a bitch. This year they upped the violence, a few minutes in Bison has a bloody mouth and is bleeding hard way from getting head butted. Bison gives as good as she gets though, atleast when given the chance and this is one of the stiffer matches i've ever seen in joshi. Everything from kicks to chops to chair swinging, metal tossing crowd brawls is done with extra intensity. No one's safe either as ring atendants, the ref and who ever else gets in their way takes a beating during this. Aja dominates more often then not though and ocasionally would take a minute to lock in a hold or 2 or bust out a flying shoulder block or dropkick in between the beating whear as Bison's the more crazy of the pair and will just beat you down and then beat you down some more. By the end of this Bison's lost a front tooth, I think from a punt to the jaw mid match. She survives a couple of urakens near the end so Aja choke slams her nearly to hell then locks in a cross arm breaker for the insta tap, Aja flashes back to 91 and holds on a few extra seconds before being drug off. "God made the devil just for fun, but when he wanted the real thing he made Aja Kong" - Book of Shishido Chapter 1970 verse 925. It's all in the family though, Aja tends to her fallen team mate post match, helps her up and they hug. Aja screams at her to make it to the finals so they can meet again. Big Kimura chant from the fans. Great match if you're into the hard hitting, smash mouth (no pun intended) style. One of the best of the year.
  20. - (3WA Tag Titles 2 out of 3 Falls) Toshiyo Yamada & Manami Toyota © vs Akira Hokuto & Kyoko Inoue So after the events of the last show Hokuto & Inoue don't appear to be exactly thrilled to be teaming up but promise to make the most of it while the champs seem to be on the same page. 1st fall's all about puttin over how strong & tough Hokuto & Inoue are. Toyota & Yamada have better team work and are faster but they still get their butts kicked and heads smashed in and a good many times just plain outsmarted. The champs make a lot of mistakes early and it cost them as Hokuto & Inoue counter all their stuff and things end with a double pin after they miss a double team diving head butt and HokInoue hit their finishers at the same time on both. Hokuto & Inoue also have some cool moments whear they ape each other's sig spots, Hokuto bust out the mongolian chops and giant swing, Kyoko uses the spin kicks. Both do them really badly but it was neat to see them try, unity and all that. 2nd fall looks to be the same but Yamada shuts that shit down and in the span of like a minute she kicks Hokuto in the head, gives her 7 back drop suplexes, another kick to the head and then pins her with the same move she used to beat Toyota last show, the Gory Special Bomb. 3rd Fall is more Toyota & Yamada's style, as the up the pace. They take Hokuto out then bring Kyoko in and go to work over her for a while. Hokuto comes back a little but is still a little out of it from all she took earlier so isn't a ton of help leaving Kyoko to do all the work again. They finally rally but their team work falls apart and all the big stuff Hokuto & Inoue try back fires such as when Kyoko ends up smashing her parter on a dive gone horribly wrong. Meanwhile all the double teams Toyota & Yamada do hit and that becomes the final story. The champs divide & concor, they trap Hokuto in the ropes so she can't escape and after a few more big moves Kyoko falls to the JOCS. Aside from a few sloppy moments involving Toyota, the was a really great match, especially the final fall as it had that extra something to go along with the great action to put it over the top.
  21. Kyoko Inoue & Mariko Yoshida vs Manami Toyota & Sakie Hasegawa Sakie in to start, still bandaged up from last month but Kyoko tells her to buzz off and calls out Toyota. They do some cool mirror spots & fast paced counters before tagging out to Sakie & Yoshida. Those 2 slow it down a little as Sakie goes after Yoshida's bandaged up arm for a while. Toyota tags in and is like nah to all that, prefering to spaz out on Yoshida with a million drop kicks. Things slow down again with Sakie back in and Yoshida tagging out to Kyoko. Inoue goes to work on her leg and Yoshida tags back in smelling blood and ties Sakie up in a million diffrent knots and then they switch to working over her back. Toyota taged in and once again says "fuck all this shit" more or less forcing the match to become a sprint again. For exactly 1 second was getting a little pissed at her for refusing to work anything but her style here but then the match gets AWESOME and all is forgiven because as far as crazy sprints go this was some top level shit. Just everyone clicking 100%, hitting everything cleanly. Toyota actually ended up being outshone by the other 3 in this match too. Kyoko was her usual great self of course but the real stars of this were Sakie & Yoshida. Both against each other and against Toyota or Inoue who actually didn't even interract that much in this match. Sakie was on point with all her spin kicks (a rarity), nearly taking Yoshida's head off a couple of times and her & Toyota were hitting some cool double team stuff. Yoshida was busting out all kinds of crazy dives and high spots and was mega insane over with the K-hall crowd. Lots of nutty near falls like you'd exspect for the finish and it ends with Yoshida hitting a monkey flip off the top rope on Sakie who then gets pinned after the Niagra Driver from Inoue. Huge Kyoko & Yoshida chants post match and they both get on the mic to talk shit afterwards on Toyota who looks quite pissed. Don't know if i'd put this ahead of Aja vs Bull but at worst this is the 2nd best match of the year up to this point.
  22. (3WA Title Match) Bull Nakano © vs Aja Kong Their underlings may be getting along but these 2 certainly still aren't as Aja's in a surly mood before the match even starts. She gets on the mic and essentially tells Bull "bitch, you die tonight". Battle of the monsters to start, lariet, no sell, running smash, no sell, Aja with the bad ass standing drop kicks to get the advantage. 1 min into this and Bull is allready bleeding. Aja takes the fight into the crowd and starts hurlying rows of chairs at her head then leaves her for dead thear, heading back to the ring. Bull slowly returns, dripping blood and holding her eye. Aja works over the cut some more, punching, biting and headbutting away. Bull has a lot harder time fighting back then usual tonight. This isn't the first time she's been beaten down but usually all it takes is 1 lariet and she can turn things in her favor, here she has to put a lot more effort into it. Perhaps a sign she's begining to weaken, perhaps a sign Aja's growing stronger, perhaps neither or both. When she does finally pull it off she goes for revenge, taking things back out into the crowd and busting Aja open with chair shots of her own. Aja starts swinging wildly but Bull quickly shuts that down and continues her beat down until Aja grabs her can. Ref won't count so Aja starts spamming urakens and taking a page out of Yamada's book and punting the snot out of Bull every time she goes down from one. Each time Bull gets up a little bit slower but won't stay down. Bull hits another lariat followed by a suplex and then the big leg drop but Aja kicks out. Megadeath flipping leg drop misses and Aja hits a top rope plancha to the outside. Back in Aja's back drop smash off the top gets 2 and Bull comes back with a suicide dive to the outside. Bull again hits the Megadeath but this time Aja kicks out, the 1st time that's ever happened I believe and Bull just has this awesome "oh shit what do I do now" look on her face. She digs deep and bust out the moonsault to finally survive this match and come out the victor. Aja is carried out to the back post match and Bull can't leave under her own power either. In the back Watanabe has to hold her up during the post match promo whear she's in near tears. Certainly bot the best match these 2 have had, a little slower then i'd have liked at times but yeah, this was still awesome.
  23. (IWA World Women’s Title Match) Kyoko Inoue © vs Manami Toyota Whenever a lot of people talk about this feud it gets brought up how similar their styles are. I thought the story of this match was a good example of how diffrent they can be as well. Toyota when on offense just went a million miles an hour most of the time, hurling whatever attack she can think of off the top of her head at Kyoko. Inoue on the other hand seemed to put a lot more thought into what she was doing, she'd match Toyota speed for speed but often it was done more to outsmart her or to take advantage of one of Toyota's mistakes. Toyota would go for a dive, miss & Kyoko would hit one of her own or Toyota would go for something else and Kyoko would quickly counter or move out of the way, stuff like that. And when she wasn't doing that, Kyoko put a lot more effort into other attacks like using various holds to wear down Toyota. Toyota for her part does a good job of selling it all too and putting over the fatigue as the match goes on and when on offense she hits all her big moves perfectly on this night. Final stretch sees all the usual near falls you'd exspect plus a few you wouldn't with Kyoko using a lot of stuff she normally doesn't like choke slams to try and get the win. In the end though it's Toyota who outsmarts her and hits her with the JOCS out of nowhear to pick up the win and the title. Really great match, one of the better ones in the feud.
  24. (3WA vs UWA Tag Titles - 2 out of 3 Falls) Aja Kong & Bison Kimura (3WA) vs Manami Toyota & Toshiyo Yamada (UWA) Funny moment as Aja makes fun of Toyota & Yamada's pink UWA belts in the pre match promo. 1st Fall follows your basic tag pattern, Yamada & Toyota in controll to start but get cut off by JJ. Long beat down on Yamada then hot tag Toyota who comes in and does a mini controll segment on Bison before kicking things up and finally pinning her with the JOCS. Nothing major stands out, just good solid work. 2nd Fall is awesome stuff as it's all mega pissed off Aja & Bison going for revenge and mega pissed off Aja & Bison is always fun. They turn it into a wild chair swinging, table throwing brawl and continue to dominate the whole way through. Toyota kicks out of a few things and manages to tag in Yamada but she fares no better and gets smashed as well for her efforts. Super Bomb off the top from Aja finishes her off. 3rd Fall is a longer, much better version of the 1st with JJ being more brutal in their continued beat down and Toyota (who now has a bandaged arm) & Yamada trying even more desperatly to fight back. Great near fall stretch as they isolate Aja and throw every suplex, dive, kick and double team they can think of at her but she keeps kicking out or being saved by Bison. They toss in the kitchen sink too and still can't win so they dig deep and result to attempted murder to finish her off. They put Aja up on the top rope and give her a double team back suplex, only instead of guiding her to land on her back they over rotate so she flips entirely over and lands vertically on top of her head like she was taking a pile driver....off the top rope and fuck, if that can't get the win nothing would have but Yamada covers and we've got new tag champs. Mega celebration time, crowd goes insane, Yamada looks like this is the happiest day of her life. Aja wakes up from her coma a few minutes later and goes batshit on all of them, she screams on the mic, grabs the 1 of the tag belts, attempts to smash it apart on the ring anouncers table then goes into the crowd, rips a piece off and tosses it down. Continues going on a rampage through out the building, tossing chairs and sending fans fleeing while Bison just kind of calmly follows suit all depressed over the loss. Aja gets back in and tries to take out Yamada & Toyota with a chair 1 last time but she's finally drug away by like 7 or 8 people still kicking & screaming. Great match.
