  1. I'm going to predict the main event for those Pay-Per-Views: Vengeance: Randy Orton Vs. Christian Night of Champions: Randy Orton Vs. Christian Hell in a Cell: Randy Orton Vs. Christian It's the feud that just don't die! At least C.M. Punk and John Cena will move on to the different things. The speculation of Alberto Del Rio cashing in his Money in the Bank briefcase and the involvement of Triple H give "outs" so to speak.
  2. For the record, that post was money and you hit the nail on the head. But what is there to discuss at this point? It's a wait-and-see approach right now for me. I could speculate based on the past history of WWE, but that would not get us anywhere. Like I said earlier, I think Summerslam and RAW next week will be the real indicators of what is going to happen. The angle is already a lot worse off than it initially had potential to be, for sure. WWE just blow their load too damn quick. Cena when he was fired never even missed RAW. Punk when he "left with the title!" only missed one show. So much potential but it was completely squandered. Not just with the tournament that you mentioned, or the Triple H promo when Punk came back ("at the end of the day, you're just a guy who held out for more money") but because it kills more faith in WWE fans too. RAW is a show that you don't have to watch anymore. Everything you need to know about RAW will be highlighted in a 2-minute video package before the PPV starts. They lack compelling television. When the highlight of your show is a performer making fun of your show/company, that should be a pretty damn big sign.
  3. This was hilarious to me:
  4. I'm puzzled why someone would "autograph" the end of each of their posts, but what the fuck do I know? Anyway, I think we'll see how things pan out in the next couple of weeks. This Summerslam on Sunday will be the first big indicator. Then the RAW the next night to see what Punk will be doing. It could go a lot of ways. If Punk eats a Pedigree and loses the title, it doesn't necessarily mean the end of the world.
  5. Triple H really made me laugh tonight during his opening promo. Something to the extent of he's the only man bigger than both world champions and the entire roster and that everyone is in his shadow or something. It was pretty surreal.
  6. To me she looks like she's both on meth and anorexic. If she has some sort of "workout addiction" she still wouldn't be that skinny unless she wasn't eating at all.
  7. "According to a shocking report" which is a report that can't be verified, right? Same "reports" indicate that the main event might not happen, but it probably will happen. How is this even noteworthy whatsoever? "Yeah, this could happen..." That's not news. Wild speculation where you can't use exact quotes or name sources is not credible or even worth reading. It is why wrestling "journalism" is a joke. "According to my SECRET SOURCES something might happen. Maybe!" That's basically what the entire thing said.
  8. I finally got around to watching some SMASH wrestling and Hajime Ohara impressed the hell out of me. I think he has a great look. Their matches are really short though.
  9. Even if John Cena doesn't pin C.M. Punk clean at Summerslam, they'll just turn C.M. Punk back into a babyface and then he'll be tag teaming on RAW with John Cena against fuckin' Miz/Del Rio or some shit. I have no faith in WWE whatsoever.
  10. That...might be the best place on Earth. Holy shit!
  11. To be completely honest, I never once cared about if any of it was real or not. It was entertaining, and that is something I have been wanting from WWE. It doesn't really matter to me how they get there, compelling TV is compelling TV. It create some buzz on-line, and although that might not mean anything to the 12-year-old Cena marks and their parents, it at least means it caught the attention of someone. That has to be a good thing, right? Frankly, I just want WWE to put on good shows. I'm interested in tuning in tonight because the PPV last night was good. I was interested in ordering the PPV last night because the main event build-up was good. It's that simple.
  12. The Pay-Per-View tonight has me really excited. More so than even Wrestlemania, and I am a big Triple H mark. I think a lot of people are anticipating the show this evening. There seems to be a "buzz" that I have not heard in years surrounding this show, all because of C.M. Punk. I think something big is going to happen tonight. Wrestling has been pretty boring and stagnant lately. People are looking for wrestling elsewhere, and a lot of people just go to old footage because the majority of current stuff, even in Japan and Mexico, is pretty sloppy right now. But the PPV tonight has people, myself included, genuinely excited. I actually want to give WWE money for this PPV because of how well the C.M. Punk parts of the build have been. I think Mark Henry has been great lately too. Plus, there's the ladder activities. It really should be a great show and it would take a miracle to mess it up.
  13. John Cena when he was just letting C.M. Punk talk, saying "Stop. Stop now." and hitting C.M. Punk in the face after the Yankees line is the perfect John Cena. John Cena doing the promo about turning Vince's face into a door mat that he can wipe his poopy shoes on and let his dog pee on is exactly what is wrong with John Cena. Even if you want kids to like him, that is bad material. Kids liked Hulk Hogan and he wasn't trying to be funny with bad toilet humor. Watching RAW last night, it really just made me realize that no matter what WWE does, the majority of the show is not going to be for everyone. They really do have stuff all over the place, trying to appease as many different people as possible. I dislike the majority of stuff in WWE, but I can overlook it lately because C.M. Punk, Mark Henry, R-Truth and even Vince McMahon have been so good. But even with them being good, you still have Kelly Kelly and the Bella Twins, you still have Alex Riley being super pushed despite being greener than goose shit, you still have worthless Michael Cole and the terrible RAW G.M. interrupting computer and everything else. It's hard to put up with, as a fan. I know people like to look back on past eras a lot with rose-colored glasses, but I think the majority of people here remember all the bad from the Attitude Era, without just focusing on the Austin/Rock, Austin/McMahon stuff. But even then, things were different because wrestling was so much more popular, and so much less prevalent on-line than it is today, that you could put up with a Val Venis dick-chopping segment, or Beaver Cleavage or any of the other shit. Nowadays, it's just like, why is Alex Riley in his position when people like Drew McIntyre, Chris Masters and Zack Ryder aren't doing shit, despite busting their asses? And there's not any really good reasons I have read that make a lot of sense. I will definitely be watching Money in the Bank on Sunday. I feel like the C.M. Punk stuff has been so good that I should. But I'm curious what it is all going to lead to.
  14. The TNA PPV Destination-X last night actually wasn't bad. A few finishes I wasn't a big fan of (never really liked roll-up finishes) and a bad Abyss/Immortal segment, but all-in-all, worth watching. The contract match was a lot of fun.
  15. They have a system like this in chess. I think it's 8, not 16 and I think it starts at 1600, not 1500, but I don't really remember. Magic: The Gathering uses a similar system for their tournaments too. It's how they decide who gets invites into big tournaments, or gets byes in said tournaments, things of that nature. There's different "K" levels for different events too. The bigger the event, the more points the games are worth. If it's a local thing, it's 8k, so if you lose, the most you can lose in one game is 8 points, and that's if the person is rated a lot lower than you. If it's a bigger event, the K level can go up all the way to 32 (in multiples of 8). In those lower level events, the people that you're "supposed" to beat (aka, you're rated a lot higher than) you don't even get the full 8 points. You get, I think, 4. So that would help in the jobber squashes and things of that nature. Plus it would help if someone beat a Hulk Hogan because it would be worth more, especially if on a PPV (higher K level).
  16. I have never been a big fan of TNA wrestling. For the most part, throughout their entire history, they have been pretty shitty. Despite having some pretty talented guys over the years. Right now, it looks like the worst thing about TNA is the "Immortal" faction. I'm not sure if anyone follows TNA or not, but basically, it's all the old guys. I plan on watching the PPV tonight though. I have read some praise about TNA lately, which is rare in and of itself. Looking at the roster, they have brought back some people that I am actually interested in seeing, like Jerry Lynn, Christopher Daniels, Low Ki, Jack Evans, Austin Aries and a few others. Plus the new "Joker" Sting looks fun. The "gimmick" of Destination-X, apparently, is the return of the six-sided ring. Plus an Ultimate X match. Am I crazy?
  17. Because they all stopped watching or switched to MMA.
  18. You can play a drinking game and take a drink every time he throws out a shitty "jungle kick"!!
  19. Yeah, and I think one of the "perks" that a lot of wrestlers like about TNA is the whole "not having to travel" part, since TNA is basically always in the same place.
  20. I'm not sure where people like Beer Money could go other than TNA, but if people working in TNA are applying for food stamps, I doubt the pay on the Indies would be that significantly less. What does Ring of Honor pay? Is it enough to pay your bills with regularity?
  21. Meh, I would like to see Mick Foley return to WWE in a non-wrestling role anyway. As nit-picky about WWE as I can be, they are still infinitely better than TNA. Even being on national television, and having big name stars on the roster, TNA comes off more bush league and "indy" than any promotion I can think of. TNA is bad in every aspect: The story-telling, the wrestling, the commentary, the camera shots, the ring announcing, the refereeing, the entrances and theme music. They just completely suck. So I say kudos to Mick for getting the fuck out of there. Even the guys that I like, such as Beer Money, all I can think is "Man, they're not bad, why are they still in TNA?" That being said, Foley does have a tendency to come off as somewhat of a whiner. I can understand wanting to vent, but when you're a celebrity, you have to realize that things are going to be blown out of proportion and you should keep things to yourself more often.
  22. Personally speaking, in my experience, people that brag about drinking (or smoking weed) are infinite worse than those that brag about not doing so. "Hoo boy, I'm gonna get TORE UP this weekend!" Yeah, that's great.
  23. Strangler Corleone looks like a fan of Alice Cooper!
  24. There's a difference between taking drugs socially, recreationally or because they're prescribed. I seem to recall a Punk Smackdown promo pretty much talking specifically about that in regard to Jeff Hardy. Punk had prescribed medication, from a legal doctor or something. I think he even held up the bottle? I also don't think taking novacaine at the dentist somehow makes you a "pussy" but whatever, the internet is hyperbolic.
  25. Being able to suspend my disbelief and be drawn in to whatever is being presented on the television. To expand, as an example, botched spots or stammering on the microphone can take me completely out of the moment. Also when you can just not buy into a character whatsoever (an example for me being The Miz). It has to be believable to a degree. Do I think The Undertaker is really a zombie? No, of course not. Do I think a 6'10", 300+ pound tatted up old biker could kick the shit out of some people? Hell yeah. I'm not real high on a lot of Lucha/Cruiserweight wrestling that I have seen, but it's mainly for the above reason. It takes me out of the moment. Some of the moves are really cool but to me, it's not really about the moves anyway, it's about the story and emotion. That's why WWE seems so dull, there's no emotion anymore. The stories themselves, even when in their most basic form, can be compelling enough to draw you in. Even as lowest common denominator writing (which shouldn't be hard), a slow building good vs. evil or guy gets the girl story can be fun to watch. People remember Savage and Elizabeth reuniting at Wrestlemania 7. Oh and probably the most important thing (and seemingly a lost art) is continuity. If a babyface turns heel, he should not magically just become friends with all the other heels, especially if they just feuded recently. I also love when wrestlers do throwbacks to old matches they have had together and "learn" from them. Christian/Orton have done this well.
