Wrestling thoughts that probably don't deserve
Coffey replied to Coffey's topic in NMB Wrestling Archive
Are you saying that WWE does a bad job of "building stars for the future?" Shit, just look at this years Wrestlemania. Does anyone actually want to see Vince McMahon wrestle Shawn Michaels? Why'd Carlito and Masters get slapped together in a random tag title match? Why isn't Carlito in the Money in the Bank match that he proposed, so that he can move on to bigger and better things? That last big star that WWE was trying to make, that didn't seem to get shit on, was Brock Lesnar and he dipped. Cena doesn't seem to be working, nor Orton...yet WWE are too stubborn to abort, so maybe in a few years people will be asking "Whatever happened to that Orton dude?" -

A couple of my friends still watch wrestling, thus we still talk about it. Hell, we still get together to watch Raw on Mondays. Lately, we've been watching a lot more tapes and shit though to kind of fill the void that the current product is leaving us with. We're pretty broad in our viewing habits though, so we have a lot more options than just WWE on Monday's and the occasional PPVs. With Japan, Mexico, TNA and Indy's there's plenty of current shit to keep us occupied. If not, there's plenty of older shit to do the job. My friends that don't watch wrestling anymore, well, since they don't watch it, we don't talk about it. It would just be awkward, since they'd know nothing about it anymore...that's just not a street to go down. I don't want to have to explain things just like they don't want to have to ask things. Everyone else that ever talked to me about wrestling is the people I was generalizing though. Like in high school. Everyone knew I was a wrestling fan and they all talked to me about wrestling when wrestling was big. I had a lot of people ask me what ECW was and how they could check it out. I let people borrow tapes and magazines and shit. Once Wolfpack shirts weren't sold in J.C. Penny's anymore though, they all went on to the next fad and I haven't talked to any of them since. Maybe if I run-in to someone that I haven't seen in a few years they'll make a comment like "you still watch wrestling?" It never goes much passed that though. It doesn't break down into "I can't believe you still watch that shit. You know it's fake right?" or any of that. -

I don't know why he agreed to do the commercial but it's certainly not because he's hard up for money. Last I heard, he just bought a new mansion, which is like his fourth one. I'm guessing he just wanted people to remember that he was still around. He's been out of the spotlight for a couple of weeks. It is getting close to 'Mania time though, and since it's the Hulkster, I wouldn't put it passed him to have some motifs. The only time I've really ever had to defend my watching wrestling was back during the last boom period when it became really popular and everyone was watching it. Nowdays, since no one really watches it anymore, they don't seem to care if I do. Also, just curious, but does anyone watch TNA anymore, or at least iMPACT!? I know that Sek made the iMPACT! Spoilers thread and it didn't get any replies. Is TNA THAT far off the map? -

Well, he was in that Wendy's commercial with the "Triple H burger!" He was also in Blade 3 and was on MTV's Punk'D amongst other things. I think people that don't even watch wrestling have a pretty good idea nowadays whom Triple H is. He isn't Hulk Hogan or even Stone Cold or The Rock. He's right below them though. More known than people like Jericho, whom is all over VH1 and doing the Fozzy bullshit. -

No, I think they're in Orlando, Florida actually. -

I'm watching the World Baseball Classic. Dominican Republic against Venezula. I think I just saw Mick Foley in the crowd. Right above the Dominican dugout. -
Good, that way we won't have to watch it.

I was watching iMPACT! tonight and thought of something I'd like to see. Abyss has James Mitchell as his manager. Basically, Abyss does Mitchell's bidding. I like Abyss being with Mitchell because it goes against Abyss' character to talk and Mitchell is a great mouthpiece. However, I don't like the whole "doomsday" think. I think it'd be fun to watch if Mitchell couldn't control Abyss. I'm not talking about Abyss turning on Mitchell, rather Mitchell not being able to dictate when and where Abyss just snaps and takes out people. I think it'd be fun to see Abyss do run-ins during undercard matches and the like just to take out several people...just because he can. It's happened a lot in the past, with people like Sid and Scott Steiner. I just think it'd be more entertaining to see Abyss do it. A backstage interview with Mitchell and Abyss where the interviewer is actually afraid that something might happen to him would be more entertaining to me than a backstage interview with Abyss grunting and Mitchell making thumb gestures. Especially if it involved Jeremy Borash, Terry Taylor, Larry Zybysko, Shane Douglas, etc. randomly getting assaulted. I want to see Abyss get a world title push. I think he's my favorite wrestler right now. I know he's my favorite in TNA. Even ahead of Samoa Joe. -
Honestly, much like Tatanka and Animal, he really didn't have a reason to be around. What's he going to bring to the product? He doesn't have a future in the WWE anymore. He could've been more "enhancement talent" but WWE has already got an abundance of that.

...TNA brought in Kevin Nash. I disagree. I think the fans have a lot of do with kayfabe as well, which is why some people think Rey winning the WWE title is so unbelievable.
-
There's no reason that Steiner should have to be a midcarder in TNA. The current champ. is Christian. A couple former champs. are Styles & Jarrett. Kayfabe wise, Steiner could beat those guys.

To make a counterpoint, the WCW fans that found something better to watch after wrestling, didn't see his downfall in WWE. Also, although he might not have been a main eventer until the dying days of WCW, he was still all over the show, even if it was in the midcard feuding for the US title, and it's not like the stuff he did with his brother Rick as a tag team never happened.

That Hunter must not know how to work heel.
-
Another thing against Kendrick & London are that they're both on the "B" show. Like it or not, to be the flagship, you pretty much have to be on Raw.
-
How pitiful is it that this is the selling point:
-
"babyface"
-
What about London/Kendrick? They have the workrate when they're on and the could easily be classified as "pretty boys." Slap a female mouthpiece with them or something perhaps? MNM have Melina....
-
Orton's heel and doesn't sing crappy songs on the internet. Therefore, he's not deep.
-
Naw, not really. It's just a bunch of fatties buying up all of his shit because he's "OMG, so hot and deep." Same with his brother. Have you read his message forum?

I'm bumping this thread. Several people named Eddie Guerrero, whom has since passed away, and John Cena was name dropped. Now that Cena's had the ball for awhile, my choice of Jericho is gone and Guerrero died, now who do you guys say? Also, someone mentioned this the other day (I think it was Sek), so I figured I'd post the picture so people could save it to their harddrive or whatever: Back on topic, to name drop a few people, what do you guys think of Chris Masters, Ken Kennedy & Paul Burchill?
-
He's already lost a match (the Unbreakable 3-way) and TNA act like that shit never happened. For a week, Tenay was like "Joe's undefeated...in one on one competition." Now, with the build-up for this bullshit Ultimate X shit, it's back to the revisionist history again. Daniels nor Styles either one need to be the man to beat Joe. That's kinda what my point was. TNA are gonna fuck it up.
-
C'mon world title push! The biggest obstacle in his TNA career is getting his first loss and having it come off as being believable. You don't want to blow his first loss off on a fluke and you want it to "make" someone, so don't "waste" it on someone like Daniels, Styles or Jarrett.
-
What the fuck is this shit? Just going off outta the blue? You're a mo-mo. I'm actually surprised that Loss didn't say something to you about that post. I'm on a "wait and see" with SNME this time around. When it was on last time, I was a blind WWF mark and would've watched anything thrown my way, up to and including thinking that Zeus was a world title threat. This time, I'm a lot more pessimistic. I've been optimistic enough with WWE as can be evidenced by people calling me an apologist and whatnot in the past.

How many times did the Dicks actually make it onto TV? I remember seeing them hit their double Samoan drop type move twice, so what, three times?
-
Honestly, I'm glad that RVD didn't win. I didn't want RVD/Cena main-eventing Wrestlemania. There's a lot of reasons why but for starters, they're both babyface.
