To be fair, HBK did give a pretty big rub to Steve Austin at Wrestlemania XIV. Austin was pretty popular at the time already but it certainly helped.

You should just be more blunt, Loss. With this quote right here, you should've just told the fucker your point was that he was a hypocrite.
-
Good to hear. How soon is soon? Maybe we should hold off on the whole columns thing until the move?

Personally, I don't know why y'all paid for the site to begin with. I didn't think Alvarez was all that e-popular. Most people just care what Meltz says nowadays. If this forum had more activity, like, more posters like what we have, I could see this site charging a fee. I think it'd be worth it. Hell, it'd be worth it just to upgrade to a "real" forum so we can use the search feature and shit.

Yeah, it never really made sense to me either. It's not like the matches get a lot of time. The matches that do get time are usually in the main event slot anyway. So, just throw a couple new people into a backstage skit or vignette one week and then different people the next week. For example, whatever happened to Trevor Murdoch?

..but he's a SIXTEEN TIME WORLDS HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION and his DAUGHTER IS IN THE FRONT ROW~! Yeah, it didn't make a whole helluva lot of sense to me. Why would Flair want to do a TLC match? Why would Edge, when he just won the belt? It was just lazy booking. Edge will be lucky to walk out of next Sunday's PPV with the title.

I've read that line like a dozen times and I still have no idea what he means. Anyone? No really Bryan, tell me why it's different. I don't see the difference. Well, I can sort of see where he's coming from. The Rock & Hollywood Hogan had a lot of build-up. The nWo came back. It was Hogan's first match in WWE in a long time. Hogan and the Rock are two of the biggest stars in the history of the business. Angle and Michaels aren't. Angle and Michaels had a match on free TV with only a week build. Hogan/Rock had a match on the biggest wrestling show of the year, with at least a month build-up and the anticipation of Hogan's return and all that. So, I can see why he'd say that. It was different heat. The Toronto crowd gave the "oh shit, it's Hogan" "this is a dream match" type of nostalgia heat. The Raw match was the "who's going to win/this should be a good match" heat. When you look at it like that, the content of the match doesn't really matter. I guess that's what he's trying to say? Shit, I don't know. EDIT: I like what Rudo is saying. It's true. A lot of people seem to have a "free pass" as it pertains to match quality. It's like, just because HBK, Angle, Benoit, etc. have had good matches in the past, that doesn't mean that every match they have is going to be good. Just because Kane, A-Train & The Undertaker have had bad matches in the past, that doesn't mean that every match they have is going to be bad. People look at a line-up and some matches are automatically good before they ever happen. People look at a line-up and some matches are automatically bad before they ever happen. It's not really fair. Hell, people are already saying this years Wrestlemania "will be one of the worst ever." What the hell is that even based on?

Wrestling thoughts that probably don't deserve

Yeah, I really like that entrance too. She just seems like she's really good at getting heat. She plays a good bitch. I also really liked the finish to the Henry/Mysterio match. Obviously I would've rather had Rey win the match but I did like the finishing sequence. -

I've always been a pretty big fan of Yoko. The man was underrated. I really want to see that Hart match that got pimped. Bret was notorious for working in his opponents big three moves and Yoko's belly-to-belly suplex, leg drop and Bonzai Drop all looked like death when he connected with them. As far as HBK and cameramen go, let's say that I've at least noticed it. If it were something small or just a lil' work, I don't think I would've noticed it. It was the demeanor in which is happened, at least the WM11 one. I also was curious about the Sweet Chin Music on the timekeeper in the Ironman match with Bret Hart. It looked like he kicked that dudes head off. Did he really connect or was it just the best SCM ever? -
Oh, honestly, I have no idea. I'm pretty ignorant to Billy Graham and a lot of the other wrestlers of his era. Jim Ross just seemed really out of place to me on that list and I remembered him being all over the other DVD's so I thought I'd question it.

How big of a role did JR even have backstage in NWA? I mean, if he just called their matches, I don't need to listen to him call the Road Warriors "two studs" for an hour. I've rather hear the opinions of the people they worked with and shit instead. It just seemed silly to me.

You know, honestly, at this point, I wish WWE would just end the damn brand split. It's like, they don't seem like two different products and they're never going to. The "dual-brand" PPV's don't really mean a whole lot and I know on at least a couple of occasions I've not watched a couple of PPV's because they were "Smackdown only" and my local cable provider doesn't get UPN so I wouldn't have had any idea of what was going on and why each match was happening. Of course, if the brand split were to end, Vince's dream of getting up to twenty-four PPV's a year would be out the window. That shit is ridiculous anyway. I swear, with Raw and Smackdown PPVs and now TNA, there's a PPV on like every-single-Sunday. The Royal Rumble is next week and we've already had two PPV's this month. People can talk about "new stars being made" and all that shit all they want. The fact is, we still have the "healthy" top tier guys on top. Triple H is still around. The Undertaker when he's on TV main events. Kurt Angle is right there. Shawn Michaels too. We saw Batista and Cena both get built-up. We're seeing Carlito and Masters, Kennedy and some other guys getting a chance to shine too. Couldn't WWE do that with one brand anyway though? I mean, it's not like people are clamoring for shit like The Boogeyman eating Jillian's mole and I can't help but think if the brand split were gone, we might not have to watch that or another failed Mark Henry run.
-
Just curious but why does Jim Ross' opinion matter on Billy Graham? He was all over the Bret Hart and Road Warriors DVD's too. I really don't give a shit about his opinion.
-
Hell, it's not even just the mean-spirited stuff. EVERYTHING seems to be going against WWE nowadays. Batista got hurt. Mike Goldberg turned them down. People are fighting over trademarks. Bret turned down Homecoming and Survivor Series, etc.
-
For me, it's tough to say. I wonder what I would've thought about WWF in the 80's had I been "smartened up" then. I probably would've been bitter that Hogan was on top and DiBiase wasn't, instead, I was a Hogan mark and I wanted him to beat everyone.
-
Angel has to leave mid-match to take shit breaks?
-
I say good riddance. He didn't bring anything to the table. I mean, I don't wish unemployment and hard times on anyone but as a fan, I'm happy about this release.
-
Damn, I hadn't even thought about that. I guess it'd make more sense for Christian to hold it now than Sting. Sting is going to be over regardless and has had the world title before. Christian is over but he still needs to reach that next level. I don't know if it'll work but they might as well try.
-
So, Jillian is brought into WWE with the horrible mole gimmick and now that the Boogeyman has bit it off, she's on the outs? She can't be a character without the mole?
-
I don't know how to feel about NWA World Champion Christian. Obviously it'd be a step-up from Jeff Jarrett, so I guess that's all that matters. Can't deny that Christian is over and a money promo man either I guess.

Thoughts on that? That's a completely different viewpoint from what I've heard. -
There's not a whole lot to say about the Raven interview. He was brutally honest but he also comes off as if he thinks he's some fantastic worker and he's really not. He never has been. He has good psychology. He knows how to put a match together. It's just all the stuff in-between that doesn't stand out. Raven has never did a lot of things in the ring that make you eww and ahh he just does the basics well. He talks about dragging people like Gordy and Goldberg to really good matches...but those two examples certainly don't stand out to me. His match with Bam Bam Gordy was just a garbage brawl and his match with Goldberg had a ref bump and repeated interference from Kanyon. I like Raven. He's one of my favorite wrestlers of all-time. Probably third on my all-time list behind Hayes and Nikita. I liked him more for his character and promos than his wrestling though. Same with Hayes and Nikita. It doesn't matter how good a match turns out if you don't care about wanting to see it. Raven always did shit that made you want to watch his matches. The interview was dated a little bit too. It was back before Raven did Hardcore Homecoming. I liked what he said about the X-Division because it's true. AJ Styles stands out because he has a clean look and doesn't scream "jobber" when he walks out. People like Alex Shelley and Sonjay Dutt can't say the same. I wanna see Raven work Samoa Joe in TNA. Especially after Joe squashed Riley, Raven's lackey, on iMPACT! last night. It'd give Joe a program to work that didn't involve Styles or Daniels and it'd give Raven something to do after his Zybysko trash is over with.

Yeah but she was one of the first to flaunt the huge fake tits. Sunny was around but she wasn't super-exposed like Sable was. Remember the body paint hand prints? Elizabeth and Missy Hyatt were around in the older days but they were pretty conservative. Sunny was around but covered up for the most part (at least on-screen). Sable didn't leave a whole lot to the imagination plus she had the occasional matches where he's pull out a Bomb or TKO.

I can think of two reasons....

Dawn Marie also had experience since she worked in ECW. Heyman, Buh-Buh Ray, Lance Storm, etc. were in WWE at the time, so it made sense to me.
