It's also the mindset of why the majority of wrestlers hate "smart marks." Y'all have fun.
-
Whatever, I thought it was great. I don't give a fuck about ratings and goddamn buyrates, it entertained me. As a fan, I can't ask for more than that.
-
I liked it because the PPV didn't predictably end with Cena "overcoming the odds" and retaining. It was something different and now I don't know what direction WWE is heading in towards Wrestlemania. To me, that's a good thing. I want to be surprised. I didn't want to know that it'd be Cena Vs. HHH for the title. Hell, halfway through the match I was BEGGING for Carlito to win. Anyone but Cena.
-
...and won. Edge is the champion.
-
Well, Cena won...but Edge came out and is cashing in his money in the bank contract right now.
-
Heh, I thought the best match on paper was Trish Stratus Vs. Mickie James. Also, Angle was the first man eliminated.
-
Well, I don't know how much Batista's age has to do with anything. If wrestlings past is any indication, Big Dave could be 'round for another couple decades. I've never been real high on the Van Dam horse, so I don't get a lot of the resentment there. I didn't think Van Dam had enough tools he was just insanely over. Sometimes, that's enough, sometimes it's not. I dunno. Booker though? I did think he should've won. I didn't think Jericho should've won the tournament with Angle, Rock & Austin...but he did. So, HHH shouldn't have buried him either.
-
A lot of people would add Booker T. to that list as well. HHH did put over Batista though.
-
Triple H just came back from taking a break. It doesn't matter what he does, people will always shit on him. Would that be an improvement?

The appropriate reaction certainly isn't for this to be newsworthy at thirty different sites. Jesus, I've never seen such a commotion over a pregnancy before. They've been a couple for awhile, a baby was the next logical step. People act like they were baffled to hear the news or something. Not saying that's the case here but people really blow the littlest things out of proportion.

Yes, I actually care because I'm a mark for the Elimination Chamber gimmick and I'm holding out hope that we might get a new champion. Not because I don't think Cena is a good champion, he does at least get reactions, just because I'm a greedy fan and personally I want a new champ. This is also a reminder thread because a lot of people seem to forget about PPV's these days. Also, thread title: "idiot" You'll note that Helms/Lawler doesn't have a picture. That pretty much shows what WWE thinks of that match. Of course, it was just a throw together match at the last second and there's probably zero interest in that match. It's not like the pictures are real flattering for ANYONE anyway. Jeez. A lot of people are liking the Trish/Mickie storyline including the guys from the LAW. On the last episode of LAW they actually said it was the match that they were most looking forward to on the PPV. This thread is for predictions and talk about the Pay-Per-View. Here's a quick copy/paste of the line-up for prediction purposes: Elimination Chamber HHH/Show Edge/Flair Trish/Mickie Bra & Panties Helms/Lawler I wouldn't be surprised if another match was randomly thrown onto the PPV as well. Maybe something with Shelton & his mama or possibly Trevor Murdoch.

Wrestling thoughts that probably don't deserve

When I think of "smarks" I think of "smart marks." Smart marks to me are, basically, "kayfabe free." So, I agree with MisawaGQ, that's a pretty good definition. Marks don't know what kayfabe is. They don't care that backstage UT called someone a "boy" and made him go get him some lemonade. -

It's a stereotype. If you know Hulk Hogan or Triple H's real name, for example, you're a smark. You might not be some super negative know-it-all but that doesn't mean you won't be classified with them just for having internet access and liking wrestling. -

With all the differing opinions on-line and all the people that are never happy, destined to "go against the grain" and whatnot, there's always going to be some sort of backlash. People complain that Cena doesn't get pushed. People complain that Cena doesn't lose. People complain that he's not the champion. People complain that he is the champion. People complain that WWE doesn't do long title reigns anymore. People complain that the title reigns are too long. His gimmick sucks, he needs to turn heel, no his gimmick needs to be more hardcore, he needs to stay face, he sells merchandise, he's a wigger, only women and children cheer for him, he's stale, he can't wrestle, his finisher sucks, etc. It's just a sea of ungrateful bastards. There's a reason that "smarks" are "looked down upon." Welcome to the internet. -

I remember reading about Roddy Piper having to wrestle a bear in his book. Someone put honey on his trunks or something so the bear was licking his ass. -
I'm suggesting that only a smark would point out something like that. Somehow, someway, it's a burial of Chris Benoit. That's ridiculous.
-
Now, I'm sure I'm in the minority but I've been liking what's been happening on Smackdown lately. Not the whole Mark Henry/Batista stuff or the JBL/Boogeyman stuff but the Benoit/Booker stuff. It's almost like the injury to Booker has made it better. They teased Benoit getting swept. Now he's fighting back to even score. If you've read the spoilers for Smackdown on Friday, you know that Orlando Jordan gets involved now too. Orton is 0-2 against Benoit in this situation. Once because of Sharmell and the second time because of OJ. OJ in a backstage promo even made reference to holding the US title longer than Benoit and Booker when talking about Booker not showing him any respect. I don't know, I can dig it.

My favorite part of Wrestlemania 6 is the Clothesline from the top rope that Tito Santana takes from The Barbarian and sells like it killed him.

Who could tell them? Jarrett's got Dixie's ear. It'd be Jarrett's word against whomever spoke up...and Dixie has known Jarrett for years.

I don't know how to feel about this. Obviously, it's petty. That pretty much goes without saying. Still, maybe there's more to the story? Perhaps the indy guy had already done a couple little things that irked people. Rubbed a couple of the "boys" the wrong way or something. This was just a "reason" to exile him from the locker room. I don't know. What I'm curious about is, how does PWInsider get "news" like this? Furthermore, why do they see fit to publish it? Am I supposed to believe that they have an inside source, like a wrestler, and they call/e-mail PWI saying "yeah, this dude got kicked out the locker room for moving clothes." It's just fucking stupid. Who cares!? He shouldn't have fucked with someone's shit. He shouldn't have got heat for it if he just moved it. Maybe he threw it on the floor or something?

I'm wondering what the shelf life on this thread is. Bobby Roode I'm a Roode mark.

Sting's already been on TNA more than once. Not only that but isn't Spike paying part of his salary? Why wouldn't he be on TV? I would've agreed with you about having Sting show up on PPV if this conversation was happening before the last PPV. Now it's like they're dragging it on too long. You can only see a scorpion logo on a jumbotron so many times before you lose interest. I'm thinking, Sting will make more people watch the TV show. If more people watch the show, more people will buy the PPVs. If the same number of people watch the shows, Sting showing up on PPV isn't going to matter. Maybe that thought process is flawed, I dunno. I know how I feel though. -

Well, I want to see Sting on iMPACT! before paying thirty-bucks for him to no-show again. I got the last PPV thinking Sting was going to be there. I've already got burned once. When Sting was doing the whole "Crow" thing in WCW, I bought Starrcade because I wanted to see Sting Vs. Hogan. Had all the Sting run-in's and Scorpion Death Drops not have happened, I wouldn't have cared.
