If this Gunther/Sami isn’t motn I will be shocked

I hope Damage Control wins after Jade turns on Bianca lol

That Uso match was very lackluster and they should have better chemistry than anyone. Feel like they were told to go home early.

Between Heyman putting over Hunter at the Hall of Fame, to Cole calling this the Triple H era, to Triple H coming out first & DIY dressed as D-X, this whole weekend is feeling like a big nod to The Cerebral Assassin. So, yeah Philly & the Eagles but the stage is even funnier to me now.

There's no way that Omos elimination was on purpose, right? Especially because it happened during the commercial break. I feel like they had to change things on the fly.

I've been watching WWE: Next Gen & he's one of the judges on there. It's basically just a new Tough Enough with a different name but it has been a fun, entertaining watch. It's on the Roku Channel. Paul Heyman's Hall of Fame speech was the only one that I watched but I'm glad that I watched it. It did feel pretty carny but, I mean, that makes sense. I'm more excited that WWE Shop restocked some ECW merch, so I have an ECW hat coming again. I've not had one since high school, where I wore one damn near everyday until it fell apart. So glad to get a new one.

Here's another thing, which I'm guilty of myself: Too many people want AEW to be too many different things. AEW can't be the spiritual successor to WCW, ECW, JCP, PWG, ROH, Lucha Underground & NJPW all at the same time. Yes, the roster is incredible but I feel like too many different groups of fans from different corners of the world & online want AEW to be one thing & then another, different group want it to be something else & it leads to a lot of bickering. From the jump, just because of The Elite, I feel like AEW was always going to be most similar to PWG. It felt like Cody Rhodes wanted it to be JCP. They also had Kenny Omega at the height of his Japan stardom, so people were wanting NJPW main event style. They also brought in Jericho so people were expecting Sports Entertainment. They brought in Sting, so people wanted some WCW Nostalgia. AEW has always just been trying to wear too many hats & once the initial "oh shit, new wrestling company on national cable television!" charm wore off, it has felt a little bit directionless because they don't really know what direction they're supposed to be going in. They've never really dug out their own direction or been able to say what AEW is. All of that before even getting to the AEW Vs. WWE tribalism. They've also had really shitty luck with injuries at terrible times. C.M. Punk, MJF, Adam Cole, etc. & it has thrown wrenches into their plans multiple times, not just at the main event level but when trying to built stuff too.

By lying to try to save face when getting called out.

Funnily enough, I didn't think of the Eagles at first either, even as a huge NFL (and Green Bay Packers) fan. I thought of Triple H, his entrance, his gear, his D-X affiliation & him being the head of creative right now. Even the font looks like the START GAME font from his Titantron.

I just wanted to say that Sasha Banks becoming Mercedes Moné shows how much a gimmick name can actually matter. The Moné name is TRASH & I actively think it has helped sabotage her post-WWE career. To me, her aura is completely gone.

My wife is genuinely so excited for WrestleMania that is has made me more excited. It's a pretty surreal feeling! She loves Asuka, Jade Cargill & is completely wrapped up in the Cody/Roman story. So it should be a good weekend.

Where's all the discourse over the Ariel/Punk interview? Should probably be its own thread... and I don't know if it belongs in AEW because he was there or in WWE because he is there. But man, ton of great quotes in that thing. It's blowing up on social media. Seemingly a lot of people against Punk & pro-AEW but what else is new?
-
The Rock's new Titantron with the lightning hitting around him as he walks out is pretty bad ass, I won't lie.
-
To be fair, his whole schtick probably still works if he didn't wrestle at all. Like, a comedy manager. Like a pro-wrestling Sammy Terry.

That's pretty cool of Ospreay. He's got over 250k followers too, so that's some nice visibility for SGW.

I still think MJF has a ton of potential & I think he's really good. He's also still super young. However, when he was in MLW, I didn't think he was a far-and-away ready-to-be-made star either & seeing him in AEW, he never felt like a big fish in a small pond, or a talent that was being held back from his potential. I actually think he would be better off in WWE but I don't really see him as a top guy. More in the Miz & Kofi range, but both of those guys were world champions too. Darby feels more special. He's like a Jeff Hardy for a new generation of fans. I think the ball in AEW has been dropped the most with Brody King and, of all people, Danhausen. It's odd to me that they can find a place for Orange Cassidy but Danhausen is an afterthought. That dude could have so much merch & toys for kids & he barely makes TV. I would also probably try to build around Takeshita more. Swerve should also be a top guy.

There's an MLW PPV free on YouTube tonight starting at 10PM EST.

Despite all his rage, he's still just a rat in a cage.

I watched it this morning. I literally skipped everything in between both Chamber matches because it all just felt like filler to me. The Women's Chamber was pretty good. Tiffany Stratton looked great. She's going to be a big star. I have no idea why Raquel Rodriguez was in the match over someone like, say Jade Cargill? I'm guessing maybe just because they don't want to beat Jade yet but all of her momentum from the Royal Rumble is just dissipating by keeping her off TV imo. Naomi, to me, has looked really sloppy since returning to WWE. Kinda feel like everyone knew who was winning so there wasn't a lot of mystique to the match but it was still fun. Better than the men's Chamber, I would say. Although the men's Chamber did have a couple cool things about it. One of which I had to clip. vlc-record-2024-02-24-10h21m07s-WWE.Elimination.Chamber.2024.WEB.h264-HEEL.mp4-.mp4

If it helps, C.S., you're not on that island alone this time, brother. I thought Roma was really underrated too & liked him as a Horseman. He also looked great in a suit which is something that actually matters as a Horsemen & is part of the reason, to me, why Mongo always stuck out like a sore thumb. I wouldn't say I like Roma more than Sid, because I'm a Sid mark though. Roma himself was also a pretty bland personality but I still take him over Malenko whom just never dragged me into much. Although I do still remember two things from him a lot: Ciclope reveal and the hotel with Lita in WWF where they hit him with a lamp. I loved Power & Glory and feel they had an all-time finish. Pretty Wonderful was a lot of fun, too. I think Roma is just better as a tag guy.

NOAH or AJPW would be cool because I feel like they're a lot less familiar with the North American crowd. Most of a blank slate to build guys up instead of bringing in someone that already has a lot of expectations.
-
Dario Cuerto too, honestly.

That moment where The Rock said to Cody "now we have a problem" & then slapped the holy shit out of him was an ALL-TIME pro-wrestling moment. That was fucking magic! Good Lord.

I BET CHRISTIAN AND MAURO BOTH KNEW ABOUT VINCE McMAHON'S SEXUAL EXPLOITS AND THAT'S WHY THEY WERE FORCED OUT OF THE WWE! In all seriousness, El-P ain't wrong. I know we're all about the rasslin' but it's really hard to just gloss over & ignore what's going on in the world of WWE/TKO right now. Hell, even all the Twitter/X #WeWantCody shit with the official WWE account constantly reposting shit to bait people into arguing about Cody/Rock in the comments feels like they're purposefully trying to distract people into something else; to draw attention away from the lawsuit & allegations. Let's look outside the bubble at real life: Cody Rhodes is a fucking millionaire, he's gonna be alright regardless of if his worked match goes on last or not. Can we get some justice for the woman that was gang raped at WWE offices? Also, Trevor Dame on Twitter had a good series of posts about how this isn't just a Vince McMahon thing:

You can't book Hook like Taz because Hook looks like a 16-year-old that would get bullied in high school. It's ridiculous watching him throw around grown men. It's too far of a leap in the suspension of disbelief land. It doesn't work. That fucking nickname of "cold-hearted handsome devil" ain't doing him any goddamn favors either. Also, just call it the fucking Tazmission.
