    SUMMERSLAM 2023

L.A. Knight is two years younger than Finn Balor, so he has that going for him, I guess? Granted Finn is getting a title show & Knight is in a random Slim Jim commercial battle royal.
  2. The thing that I will give Triple H credit for - and it wasn't all just him mind you - but due to (at least in part) Evolution & feuding with HHH, WWE got both Orton & Batista as main eventers. Orton has been around for like twenty years now too. World Champions that feuded with The Undertaker & wrestled at Wrestlemania without anyone batting an eye at their believability or position, really. Hell, I would argue that they were both better main eventers than even Triple H himself was. Randy Orton winning the title (I believe from Benoit?) and then HHH & Evolution turning on him & then Batista turning babyface on HHH/Flair & putting him through a table were both big, stand out moments in post-2000 WWE.
  3. I moved to Michigan & moved away from all my friends & family, including Anvil whom I'm sure you remember. This Saturday for The SummerSlam, we're all going to watch it together & chat over Discord (Anvil & two other friends), so I'm really looking forward to that. The only constants through everything have always been pro wrestling & video games. It's how we all met & it's how we all stay in touch.
  4. Well, I mean, he's perfect for a chickenshit heel, yeah? Worked for Honky Tonk Man. X-Pac too, I guess.
  5. It's actually come full circle for me. When I first got online, back at the end of 1998 (after Kevin Nash ended the Goldberg streak coincidentally) I was searching out wrestling video game information. Stumbled upon WrestlingGames.com which started my pro wrestling message forum participation. I've been posting on forums about wrestling for like 20-25 years now... and Sek has been there for a lot of it. Sadly, my biggest "claim to fame" (if you can even call it that) was being the guy that defended Val Venis & thinking he deserved more of a push. Now seeing that he turned out into a burnout conspiracy theory nut, it's a good thing that didn't happen. Back then, we were all playing those THQ/AKI N64 wrestling games in real, modern time. Now all these years later, we're still talking about wanting a game that plays like No Mercy.
  6. This is how I feel about Seth Rollins. Dude's shitty theme song is over so people are pretending that he isn't trash & has been for years.
  7. Almost all of these Jim Cornette has shit on AEW doing in the past.
  8. I found it interesting the talent that the A.I. decided to use. Darby Allin Vs. Jungle Boy in the main event of a Bill Watts show? C'mon...
  9. It's almost SummerSlam. I just want to say that I was wrong on Cody Rhodes. I'm big enough to admit it. The crowds did not turn on him & he is mega over.
  10. Seth Rollins has go-away heat to me & I don't care if his theme song is over. I switched to old episodes of Jonny Quest on Tubi & don't regret my decision! Still holds up.
  11. Happy for Iyo & that finish was pretty innovative.
  12. I legitimately have no idea who the fuck this j-brone is.
  13. HOLY FUCK RAPIDOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
  14. WWE is infamous for not striking when the iron is hot, for whatever reason. They're always seemingly really tone deaf. Also, I know Gunther has done a lot for the Intercontinental title for this reign but hard to not see Drew McIntyre challenging for it as a demotion since he's a former world champion.
  15. I’m sorry but I can’t pretend anymore that Nakamura is not the drizzling shits. His entire WWE run has been terrible. Dude is completely washed.
  16. I'm going to wait for reviews & watch some streams before I decide to get it or not. I've fallen for the preorder shit one too many times. Also for the "spiritually successor to WWF No Mercy!" on more than one occasion, too.
  17. ZSJ is so, so good. Man.
  18. My kayfabe mind immediately shot to Kane Vs. The Undertaker & I started laughing. "THAT'S... THAT'S GOTTA BE KANE!"
  19. I'm actually off & get to watch the Forbidden Door PPV. My expectations aren't super high, so I'm just hoping for a fun show.
  20. Taya was laying some shit in tonight!
  21. That's good news! Happy for y'all.
  22. "One Bill Phil. That's because I am the one true, genuine article in a business full of counterfeit bucks." Man, that line went hard as fuck.
  23. Can y'all just watch streams? I know for awhile, I was just using the Wreddit Streams to watch shows I didn't get. It's interesting because when I used to live in Indiana, when Smackdown was on UPN, they had two touring brands in WWF: RAW & Smackdown. In Terre Haute, where UPN wasn't carried, they brought the Smackdown crew for house shows. To a city that didn't carry their show. Just seems like that should have been the job of someone to make sure that the market they were going to had the show that was coming, you know? So that shit has been around for awhile.
  24. I'm biased in the other way: I think MJF & Cole are both actively overrated, and that segment almost got me to turn the show off because of the content of the promos. Which is saying something, as the six-man tag pretty much featured four jobbers wasting time with Moxley & Claudio. Moxley whom has really allowed himself to look like shit now too, presentation wise. MJF Vs. Adam Cole is also not a match that I'm interested in seeing at all, let alone as a main event or title match. I think the biggest disconnect with AEW to me, and it's really been this way since the beginning, is it's hard to take anything seriously because half the roster doesn't take themselves or the show seriously. So like the House of Black, in example, come out & want to be like dark witchy killers but then you have Orange Cassidy doing his stuff on the same show so the HOB just come off as goofy too. The whole company is like one big insider joke with everyone constantly winking at the cameras, including the commentators. So when MJF is doing his serious promo, it's always just full of a bunch of shooty shit & behind-the-scenes one-liners to pop smart marks. I think with Cody leaving & now Kazarian's comments about leaving AEW, we're kind of seeing the divide in how people perceive AEW, or perhaps how they initially misjudged it for something that it was never intended to be. As a fan, I want a compelling show that I can suspend my disbelief & get drawn into the stories/matches & instead it feels like they're just constantly pulling back the curtain on The Wizard of Oz. Instead of feeling like I'm a part of the show & in on the joke, I just kind of feel alienated instead by a bunch of "this isn't for you" jokes & whatnot. C.M. Punk is certainly guilty of the shoot shit himself, but I like his idea of what professional wrestling seems to be more which is why his return has me excited. I feel like there's two groups of fans & if the company were drawn down the middle, you would have Omega & The Bucks on one side & Punk & FTR on the other. If I'm choosing a side, despite the Elite being there since day one, I'm choosing that Punk side. So maybe the new show will be more what I'm looking for.
  25. I'm genuinely surprised there wasn't another big post-WrestleMania talent lay off this year.
