That tag match was awesome.

Underrated comment tbh. I like Velveteen Dream but he has to stop doing the cosplay stuff. It's going to hurt him come main roster time. When you gotta sink or swim, you need to be able to stand on your own, as your own unique individual. He already comes off as a dude just trying to be Rick Rude and Randy Savage. I like Ciampa, Black & Gargano each individually but I too am ready for their feud to be over. I think all three could be on the main roster already truthfully. I think Black will be a star. I think Shayna will too. Here's the full card for reference by the way: NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa vs. Aleister Black NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler vs. Bianca Belair NXT North American Champion Ricochet vs. Johnny Gargano NXT Tag Team Champions The Undisputed ERA vs. The War Raiders Matt Riddle vs. Kassius Ohno

WWE T.V 1/21 - 1/27. The last gasp to the Royal Rumble
Coffey replied to Captain Redneck's topic in WWE
I don't know who is going to win the Royal Rumble but right now my speculation is either Seth Rollins or Drew McIntyre. Maybe an outside chance for Bobby Lashley? I would love to see Elias win it but that doesn't make a whole lot of sense heading into Wrestlemania. -
The beginning of each show, they try so damn hard to get as many puns in for whatever the subject is, that it's downright mind-blowing.

He also doesn't even try to hide the fact that he's quoting the movie verbatim.

Yesterday, I watched twelve straight hours of Superstars with a friend. Starting with the first episode they uploaded (which is right after Wrestlemania 8) until right before SummerSlam '92. Tag Team Champions: Money Inc. InterContinental Champion: Bret "Hitman" Hart WWF World Heavyweight Champion: "Macho Man" Randy Savage It's a lot of fun promos/vignettes & pretty much every single match is a jobber squash. The one standout match not being a squash was Flair Vs. Slaughter which was used to get The Mountie's new cattle prod over. They also run the famous Razor Ramon "Scarface" vignettes with him in Miami. My biggest complaints: There's a lot of Repo Man, Virgil, I.R.S. & Kamala matches & those guys are fucking terrible. Painfully bad & uncharismatic. Virgil comes off as downright dangerous. I.R.S. is always in Money Inc. tags with DiBiase & his Write-Off flying Clothesline finish are at least enjoyable, so he's not so bad. But I can't say anything positive about Repo Man, Virgil or Kamala. Also, annoyingly, watching months of the programming from right after one PPV building up to the next PPV and the next PPV DOESN'T HAVE A SINGLE MATCH THAT PERTAINS TO THE BUILD-UP FROM THE DAMN SHOWS! They spent weeks building up feuds: The Undertaker Vs. The Berserker, Intercontinental Champion Bret Hart Vs. Shawn Michaels, Rick Martel Vs. Tatanka, The Legion of Doom Vs. The Beverly Brothers, The Ultimate Warrior Vs. Papa Shango, The British Bulldog Vs. The Repo Man, Macho Man Randy Savage Vs. Ric Flair in a WWF Title Wrestlemania rematch, The Nasty Boys Vs. High Energy, The Mountie Vs. Sgt. Slaughter & The Natural Disasters Vs. Money Inc. for the Tag Team Titles. What do we get at SummerSlam? The Bushwhackers & Jim Duggan Vs. The Mountie & The Nasty Boys, Papa Shango Vs. El Matador, The Legion of Doom Vs. Money Inc., Nailz Vs. Virgil, Rick Martel Vs. Shawn Michaels (both heel!), The Natural Disasters Vs. The Beverly Brothers, Crush Vs. Repo Man, The Ultimate Warrior Vs. Randy Savage, The Undertaker Vs. Kamala, Tatanka Vs. The Berserker & The British Bulldog Vs. Bret Hart. I know that they changed venues at the last moment but... what the hell happened? They didn't do a single match from any of the feuds they have been building up for weeks on television. Holding off on Nailz Vs. Big Bossman makes sense because they were doing the injury angle with Boss Man (and that match happens at Survivor Series) but man, it's like they just scrapped all of their build once they were going to Wembley. There is no way the card was changed around & fucked with that much just because they wanted to put Bulldog in the main. That would have just switched Bret & Shawn's opponents, right? That doesn't explain everything else. The Undertaker's feud with Berserker just seems to not have a payoff? SummerSlam is Kamala. Survivor Series is Kamala again. I know about Nailz choking out Vince McMahon backstage over money & 'Zerker being the door guard & both seemingly getting fired over it(?) but that wasn't until after Survivor Series, right? In December. I guess Nord was there to the beginning of '93 at least. Rick Martel Vs. Tatanka at least happens at Survivor Series because I've been enjoying that program & look forward to the match. It also looks like Razor Ramon debuts soon & WWF bring in both The Headshrinkers & Yokozuna soon. I know Yoko wins the '93 Rumble & becomes WWF Champion. So... what happened to all the other feuds?

WWE T.V 1/21 - 1/27. The last gasp to the Royal Rumble
Coffey replied to Captain Redneck's topic in WWE
Usually Royal Rumble seems to have a lot of throwaway matches because the Royal Rumble match itself is the draw. That definitely is not the case this year! These matches on paper look better than probably what we will end up getting for Wrestlemania. I'm genuinely excited for Sunday. There's only three Pay-Per-Views that I still go out of my way to make sure that I don't miss: Wrestlemania, Royal Rumble & Wrestle Kingdom. They all still feel really special. I'm loving the card for Sunday. -
Is there a way to make it so that when WWE Network (on PC) goes to the next video it stays in full-screen?
-
What source do people use when looking up matches online? I'm trying to find a Sting Vs. Wrath match (not sure if it started as a one-on-one match) and Google is failing me. Sting reverses the Meltdown into the Scorpion Death Drop. 1:46 mark of this video for a clip:

WWE TV 01/14 - 01/20 Bolsonarism is taking us to the Middle Ages
Coffey replied to KawadaSmile's topic in WWE
I think I remember reading that she made her own clothes and wanted to sell clothes she was making and WWE wanted a cut. -
"Very solid in the ring and on the mic." Wow. You and I have a very obvious difference on what solid means. My favorite was when he almost killed B.J. Whitmer with a Piledriver on the ring apron. Super solid.
-
Nope, he's the drizzling shits, regardless of which company he's in. He's also an addict, so no way if I were running a business I'd bring him in. Also Mario is 36, can't work & just had a baby. I wouldn't bring her in either. What is she going to do? Apron ass spots like in Japan? Doesn't really bring a lot of value.

WWE TV 01/14 - 01/20 Bolsonarism is taking us to the Middle Ages

Just to piggy-back onto some of the Bobby Lashley discussion earlier, his Spear on RAW was the truth. More of that, please. I hated his first run in WWE. They kept trying to book him as this big, powerhouse wrestler with superhuman strength like Goldberg. He was never going to be that dude. They kept trying to have him do big power spots & he was slipping, tripping over his own feet, dropping people, etc. He was always better served as the big, strong guy that's deceptively fast & agile. The best thing he did in his first run was when he went flying into the cage to get to Umaga. Now he's doing a big, fast, flipping spear & and it looks great. He doesn't need to try to hit a running powerslam on The Big Show. Don't try to make him Goldberg or Lesnar. He's more like a Mike Awesome or Ron Simmons. -
Cody Rhodes has been saying a lot of things that I'm a fan of hearing lately. Until it comes to fruition, of course, it's just words... but I like what I'm hearing. Tony Khan talking about health coverage is great, but again, it's just talk at this point. Make it a reality, and it'll change the industry. Cody is talking about wins/losses mattering & potentially having some sort of ranking system again along with wanting to present a more sports-like feel to the program. That's pretty much exactly what I want.

I loved Jim Ross during his WCW stint when he was working with Jesse Ventura. Probably my favorite duo commentary team ever. I was never super high on him in WWF though, especially when teamed with Jerry Lawler. Since then, he's just gotten worse. Honestly, it feels like he's lost a lot of the passion for it, which certainly makes sense at this point. I agree that Jim Ross can probably bring something to a promotion. He's been around wrestling for so long, seen & done so much & has to have a great brain to pick. But if you listen to his podcast or read a lot of his tweets (or even read the grouchy JR thread here) you can see that he might have some opinions/ideas that get some negative feedback. So, I don't know. As part of a creative team, certainly, but I don't want him as a commentator anymore or as someone with a lot of influence.
-
I had this same thought. Tony still sounds really good. JR seems like his heart isn't in it anymore. At least it wasn't when he was doing New Japan. Plus Jim has had a tough last couple of years. I would prefer someone new entirely or Tony Schiavone.
-
Any idea what the commentator situation is going to look like? It's not going to be Conrad, is it? Any inside scoop there?
-
TBS would be sweet for me, just for nostalgia sake. Especially if AEW were to try to present itself in a similar vein to how WCW used to. Tony Khan did say he was a big WCW fan. That being said, I hope they get away from the comedy stuff. Like at All-In. Just don't even bother with Joey Ryan at all...

Ibushi/Ospreay, Naito/Jericho & Tanahashi/Omega were all awesome. My favorite match was probably Jericho/Naito because I'm a mark for a good brawl, but there's no fault in liking any of those three matches the most. I still can't buy into Jay White. He just feels really bland to me. I was disappointed with that match. Great show though. Long, probably too long, but great show nevertheless.

Meh, hopefully when Loss comes back he'll just ban him & this nonsense will go away.

Total legend. In my head, when I'm thinking about or reminiscing about old wrestling stuff, the voice in my head that I'm remembering is usually either Okerlund or Solie. Okerlund was a big part of my childhood. And honestly, my teenage years too. Same with Howard Finkel. When you grow up with those voices, they become ingrained in your mind. I'll never forget Mean Gene carrying The Hulkster up the stairs. R.I.P.

I LOVED the Muta looks when he switched from the face paint to the masks. The pirate, the dragon shoulders he came out with in WCW... he had a lot of really cool ones. Dude was cash. The Great Kabuki was pretty cool until he took off the entrance attire too Honestly, when I was a kid, I thought the Road Warriors were the coolest looking dudes on the planet.

I don't remember if I have ever watched one of the Elite YouTube shows or not. I've definitely seen some clips from some of them but I don't really go out of my way to watch anything on YouTube. When I remember, I'll watch an MLW show or something. But I don't think it invalidates my opinion on anything wrestling related, as it pertains to AEW, The Elite or anything else. I've been watching wrestling for over thirty-years, and I've seen Cody & The Bucks in multiple promotions & seen multiple promotions come & go in the world of wrestling. I don't need to watch some YouTube clip shows to have an opinion about Cody, The Bucks or a new promotion. Besides, if anything important happens on any of those shows, it'll just become a headline anyway & you'll see it at all the normal locations, like on Twitter, Reddit, Meltzer talking about it, etc.

"Likes" are disabled on this forum, in an effort to encourage more discussion, so I just wanted to chime in & say SomethingSavage killed it on the first page with his two posts. 100% agree with what he said about both Seth Rollins & WWE's terrible, constant use of wannabe Piper's Pit segments. Just awful. I've went in on Seth before, albeit on Reddit, not here, and was "down voted" into oblivion over it. So apparently r/SquaredCircle is still high on him. Of course, I think they are also still high on Dolph Ziggler & Tye Dillinger so whatever. Not that it's a collective hive mind, but it does tend to sway one way or the other. They eat up WWE as a whole & ignore most other promotions. I can't stand the Indie generation of wrestlers like Tyler Black/Seth Rollins that went on to WWE & still continued to wrestle like they were on the Indies. Kevin Owens is really guilty of it too. Just get all of your shit in, wrestle to get the crowd to pop for spots instead of stories, kick out of everything & make all the moves mean jack shit, all the while no selling everything because you have to get to the next Package Piledriver or rolling Superplex spot. It's awful wrestling. It's the same reason why I can't get into The Young Bucks, despite how over they are on the internet. Springboard 450 Spike Tombstones don't impress me, I just think "...why?" It's never been about TEH MOVEZ~! if they don't mean anything when you do them. That's something Seth has never got. Less is more. If you keep raising the bar and raising it and raising it... where do you go? It gets to a point where the bubble bursts & you stand out more by doing less. Imagine that.

I'm of the opinion that cable television is a dated concept. That being said, you can't deny the money that FOX just threw at WWE, so of course that opened a lot of eyes on pro-wrestling. If AEW does wind-up on a station, something like TNT would be great. Anything like WGN or whatever channels iMPACT! has been on? Complete waste of time.
