I really enjoyed match #2 (Sasha Vs. Carmella). Sasha Banks worked an excellent match and Carmella was pretty much able to keep up.

Fine match to start. Weird to think the first match is for the world title?
-
That was a LONG video package

This is my first crowd-less show, weird experience. Wasn't expecting Goldberg either. Thought he was done a while ago.

This is my first live WWE show in several years. I'm excited, for now at least!

I wanted to share this excellent quote from the June 15, 1998 Observer

Great post Marc. It never amazes me the knowledge and insight of the posters on this site.

Adding more episodes of WCW Saturday Night on Monday (3/16). https://www.wwenetworknews.com/2020/03/13/exclusive-wwe-network-set-to-add-more-classic-early-to-mid-90s-wcw-as-march-2020s-classic-content-drop/

Looks like 'The Wrestling Collector' is gone again.

AEW has a way to go but this is the start of a REALLY good wrestling promotion, in my opinion. I would prefer slightly less wrestling time and slightly more promo/angle time but each show has been entertaining. I would love to hear a Tony and Excalibur announced show but adding JR doesn't kill the product. Other than that I don't have anything negative to say about this promotion. Darby Allin is getting over in matches he doesn't win! The Tag Team Division is presented as important and consistently delivers good matches. Wins and losses are not simply ignored they actually mean something making each match worth seeing.

Really good match, great way to open the PPV.

Is it just JR and Excalibur? No Tony? I want my money back!

Is it no longer possible to see all of the Hidden Gems by year? The Hidden Gems section has several categories with 12-15 videos each but all of the Hidden Gems don't seem to be represented.

I am really enjoying AEW so far. Solid wrestling, solid stories and solid announcing. Not much to complain about so far. If it were me I would throw a squash match or two in to each show and add a short promo (or two.) I worry about burning out every possible fued/match combination, they don't have a big roster. Also, I forgot how good Tony Schiavone is at getting both guys in a match over. Not sure every announcer realizes their job is to get both wrestlers, the match and any applicable storylines over. Tony does.

This is the AEW version of Hulk Hogan get's the bonus money when people buy other wrestlers merchandise.

I agree with both of these points. I like JR but I enjoy Tony's delivery quite a bit more. Tony is the best at making something feel important.

Awesome stuff Bix! For comparison sake what was the size of the PPV universe during the attitude era?
-
Bryan voters, what are the 3,5, 10 matches I should check out? Assume I haven't seen anything of his.

Is this free?

I was able to find the Pro Wrestling USA in the recently added area but I couldn't find the Hidden Gems section anywhere. Anyone able to locate it?

How long until AEW starts their own streaming service? Is there any remaining footage for them to purchase to add hours?

How much wrestling was on TV when *you* were a kid?
Steve T replied to sek69's topic in Pro Wrestling
As a kid almost all of my wrestling viewing was of video tapes from Blockbuster, mostly WWF but some WCW/NWA. I grew up in suburban Detroit in the late 80's, early 90s, and I really don't remember everything that was on TV at the time. Definitely, WWF Superstar, SNME, and syndication; also, WCW on TBS. Other than that I would be interested in knowing what we had access to. -
My Fytre Fest feed cut out several times. I didn't have that issue at all with this show.

Nothing earth shattering on this show but everything other than Brandi-Allie was at least watchable. The six man tag was a spot fest but the did a good job planting some seeds for future rivalries between the six. It seems like they are getting Darby Allin over despite being over shadowed by the Spears attack of Rhodes. Luchasauras and Jungle Boy are an intriguing act, hopefully they figure prominently in to the tag title tournament. The last four matches were all solid to very good. Using competitive matches against Omega and Page as a way to establish CIMA and Sabian worked well in my opinion. Up and down the card they have done a good job of planting seeds to future rivalries and angles. They have piqued my interest for the TV show. The main event was good but flat due to the length of the match and the show in general. In my opinion, five hours is too long for a pro wrestling show. Anything between two and four hours is acceptable with three hours being the sweet spot. Also, the length of the match seemed unnecessary. Everything up to and including the arm work segment was great but the match seemed to come unhinged after the 'hot' tag. The post match stuff came off very WCW to me. First, whatever the Young Bucks were trying to get across was cut off then Omega was on the mic rambling apparently thinking they were off the air. Jericho's promo was easily the low point for me. He said something to the effect of 'If I win at All Out that would be just another win for me". Yikes! That isn't how you want your first ever title match to be promoted. Overall, an entertaining show and I really like the direction this company is heading in. I would put it slightly ahead of Fytre Fest.
