Draft discussion, analysis and trash talk

I'm back is it my turn to pick? -
I think they are, since what Dory is doing in the ring is creating art. But, it's more about how you are framing the original question. You're applying an interpretation to the question of art, one that is based on the idea of societal collective thought. I'm doing the same with Dory. is this an apple? That's a question with a clear answer. Is this money? Well that's a little trickier. It might be money for these people at this time but in other times it has no function as currency. Clearly there's no "in my opinion" about it because either it's money or it isn't. Is this worker great? More of a clear opinion question. A value judgement. The art question is more like the money question.

I don't think "is this art?" and"is Dory a great worker?" are the same type of question.
-
Then why do you spend so much time pushing Dory as a good wrestler? You think he's good, no one else does, so he isn't. Ill-advised example
-
"But I think it's art, I do!" Yeah so what? No one else does, so it isn't. All concepts work on this principle. Gold has value because everyone else accepts it does. If they don't, it has no value. No way around it. Narcissistic to believe otherwise.

The designation of something as art has to be socially determined to actually connote. I drink a can of coke. I put it on my mantlepiece. I declare it art. It isn't fucking art, it's an empty can of coke. That same can in the Tate behind some Perspex in a white room, accepted as part of an exhibit, is art. It is art because society says it is art. There's no way around this. Art's status as art has to be socially not individually determined. Otherwise nothing means anything. This is Marxism speaking but I also happen to believe that.
-
Sounds like a spectacularly unhelpful concept to me. But then I do work in something called the Faculty of Arts and humanities, so it must mean something.

Thank you El Borica.

Okay, change the 9/6 Hansen booking to Abby.
-
I'd like to edit together a video package montage of Strike Force high-fiving and being the gayest blowjob babyfaces ever to various Duran Duran tracks. Girls on Film The Reflex etc.
-
I think Hansen might be away with All-Japan, might want to double check that.

First six are keyed in but August 20th clashes with a WWA booking.

I've been screwed by the random generation. I don't believe anyone has had more 30+ gaps than I have. -
Also, I think Flair was sore about how he'd been jobbed out in the 94 feud, and how Hogan always seemed to win against him. He wanted to redress the balance and go over Hogan multiple times.
-
Right, but this was explained because it went out as the opener, non-title and Hogan got his heat back during the Savage vs. Giant clusterfuck and killed everyone with a chair.
-
Essentially Flair had a real bee in his bonnet about Hogan never jobbing and wanted to beat him himself. He'd been nagging Sullivan about it for months and Hulk was starting to get unpopular with the boys for never putting anyone over. Sullivan felt he was stuck between a rock and a hard place and went to Barnett who suggested that he should put Arn over Hogan. Sullivan was like "are you nuts?" but Barnett knew that Hogan would go for it as a fuck you to Flair. And he did. Twice. Apparently the second week, Flair had been in Arn's ear all week saying how aHogan was probably going to win in twenty seconds this time, how he'd never job again etc., and so when thy did the DQ finish it swept the legs from under Flair's argument while also ensuring Hogan didn't have to job for Flair. Totally fucked up situation with egos everywhere. But that's how Arn got his two wins. The stuff about Hogan and savage is interesting too: that Hogan knew that Savage knew that he was fucking him while pretending to he wasn't. But savage knew that hogan knew that. The layers of politics and bullshit are off the charts in early 1996 WCW.

Surprised a Canadian promotion didn't take him earlier. In terms of guys we've seen on Titans, he's right down there with Strongbow and Bulldog Brower as being straight up dog shit. -
Yeah, obviously Terry worked it too, they were tagging.
-
Kris, I think you missed some Dory dates. I checked before.

After seeing him in 81, there was no way I was ever taking him. -
Been listening to Kevin Sullivan's Helluva Deal show. He's just hit the Hogan vs. Arn matches and the politics behind why Hogan put Arn over are fascinating. And also hilariously fucked up. Jim Barnett involved too. But he's mentioned two other things that I wanted to try to verify: 1. He claims The Loch Ness Monster (aka Giant Haystacks) was a big TV draw for WCW when he first came in and drew.a 3.7 on Saturday Night. Is that true? 2. That Abdullah the Butcher sued WCW for $350k over a Beekcaje using the Butcher name. Any record of this?

I knew some smart ass was going to point that out. Well done for pointing it out.
