  2. Maybe I'll have him do a goofy gangster gimmick...
  3. Maybe, I just thought it was a catchy nickname? Didn't realise it had relevance. Have I just altered the universe and create an alternative universe inadvertently?
  4. It's January so it would only feel right we have a Royal to determine the number one contender, glad it was Duggan, booking Mid South it would be easy to just have JYD at the top of your card always. Fantastics vs Adonis/Murdoch is something I could watch all day long, even if no team is on the Fabs level. Blanchard is not only a premium player but a snake too, so was glad to see him not only cheat but then get his comeuppance moments later. I'd like to see match times if I was to give any format feedback for your TV, even if just a round number.

  8. Southeastern Non Fuller- Turner news.... - Former Southeastern Tag Team Champions The Assassins finishes up their dates with Southeastern and head North for the next few months. They are expected back in the spring/summer time. - Jody Hamilton (The Flame) is expected back in action in the coming weeks, he took a few weeks off to heal some nagging injuries, its believed The Flame is looking to slow down and maybe work in a smaller territory with some younger talent while he heels up, expect him to be doing dates with Southeastern's sister company Southern States. - Another wrestler looking to return full time is Phil Hickerson, Hickerson who was big heel in the 1970's in the Southeastern area, has been working behind the scenes with Ron Fuller, helping run the company. He made his return on the B crew shows this week up against Mike Jackson who has also returned to the area. With Hickerson age expect him to mostly be used as a tag wrestlers. - It's believed a shake up is in the pipe line at the top of the card, which will really set the place on fire, something very unexpected. - Its believed the Heavenly Bodies dropped the tag straps to Ken Lucas and Roy Lee Welch this past weekend mainly due to the impending feud with the Fabulous Ones, which Fuller and his office staff believe doesn't need the title to draw. The Fabs will be finishing up with the Hollywood Blondes before too long, then its believed the button will be pushed on the money feud of the Bodies and Fabs. I have to commend Ron Fuller for holding off on going with the feud straight away, rather using the Fabs to help get the Blondes over before switching to the Bodies. - Nickla Roberts will be pushed as a major player, getting involved with all the top talent in the area, its believed she will head up a stable of wrestlers. - Big Bubba Lynch isnt progressing as much as Southeastern have hoped for, Lynch was planned to be on the A crew by this point, but his development isn't moving as fast as Fuller and crew were expecting. Look for Lynch to be given his marching order's if he doesnt improve in the ring, he has a perfect mouth piece in Jim Cornette, has the size and look to be a monster, but just needs to improve.

The winning team will go on to face the Tag Team Champions next Monday night. The participating are as follows; The Lightning Express (Brad Armstrong & Tim Horner) The Nightmares (Danny Davis & Ken Wayne) The Armstrong Brothers (Scott & Steve) The Heavenly Bodies (Bobby Eaton & Tom Pritchard) The first team to come to the ring is the rookie team of Scott and Steve, The Armstrong Brothers, and their opponents are………….The Lightning Express, Brad Armstrong and Tim Horner. This means brothers will go against brothers, and Steve and Scott face off with Brad. The match starts of very sport man like until Steve accidently catches Brad with a stiff kick, and then it’s on, the action picks up and the more experienced team of the two get the victory after 10 minutes when Tim Horner hits a Running Drop Kick on Scott and covers him for the 3 count. As the bell rings all 4 man shake one another’s hands until The Nightmares storm the ring and attack The Lightning Express from behind to start the next match. The Nightmares have the advantage following the way the match started and due to the Express already being involved in a match. These two teams have been lock into a fierce rivalry as off late and neither team has managed to get the upper hand. For a lot of the match The Nightmares isolate Tim Horner with a lot of double team moves, eventually Horner is able to make the hot tag to Brad Armstrong who cleans house, dropkicks and shoulder blocks all round. The end comes when Brad Armstrong reverses a DDT from Ken Wayne into a Russian Leg Sweep which he hits and hooks the leg for the 3 count at 13 minutes. Following the bell, The Nightmares jump The Lightning Express and continue a beat down until The Express’s next opponents former Tag Team Champions The Heavenly Bodies with Jim Cornette make their way to the ring. The Nightmares leave The Lightning Expressed laid out on the mat, this’ll be easy pickings for the Bodies now. Referee Ronnie West waits for The Lightning Express to get back to their feet before ringing the bell. The match starts with the sound of the bell and we’re on. The former champs take full control of the match from the off after the Nightmares attack, Jim Cornette celebrating every successful double team on the hurt Lightning Express as if the Bodies have regained their titles they lost two days ago. Just when the Bodies think they have the whole contest tied up, out of nowhere Brad Armstrong catches Tom Pritchard off guard and rolls him up in a small package to get the 3 count and the win for the Lightning Express at 12 minutes of action. The Bodies only have themselves to blame, they could of wrapped up the match several times but choose to not too, instead deciding to continue to punish the hurt team of Brad Armstrong and Tim Horner. Horner and Armstrong will now go on to face Tag Team Champions Ken Lucas and Roy Lee Welch next Monday night. The total time of the match from start to finish was 42 minutes. - 2. The Beat The Champ Television Champion Jimmy Golden with Ron Fuller defeats Southeastern Heavyweight Champion "Bullet" Bob Armstrong in a Non-Title Match in 14 minutes of action, the results means Jimmy Golden will receive a Southeastern Heavyweight Title Match next Monday in Birmingham. There was no love lost between the two competitors, this was a heated brawl where both men gave it their all. The finish came when Ron Fuller distracted referee Dave Hebner and Jimmy Golden loaded his boot and connected with the “Bullet” and covers him for the 3 count for the win. Following the bell, “Bullet” Bob looked very frustrated with himself and slammed the mat with his hand as he got up and left the ring. - 3. The match goes all round the arena, with all four men bleeding heavily, especially Eric Embry. The match finally gets to the ring around the 10 minute mark after brawling solidly. The Fabulous Ones get the victory at around the 30 minute mark following Steve Keirn sling shoting Ken Timbs into a Karate Kick from Stan Lane to knock him out followed by Lane covering Timbs for the 3 count and the win. The Fabs retain the rights to their name as they leave the ring with Embry and Timbs in a pool of their blood. 14. Do we have a new writer?
  15. Could be a flex spot? Use either or?
  16. I know Kevin, didn't take it that way...
  17. That's of the matches we have on record, I'll retire him before too long.
  18. Southeastern ~ The biggest feud in currently in Southeastern seems to be behind the scenes with Ron Fuller and Ted Turner. After Saturday's TV taping, Fuller was called for a meeting with Ted Turner at CNN towers, Ted who doesn't normally work Saturdays, made an exception. As reported previously Turner has been upset with Fuller not going all out with the expanded Southeastern, especially when it comes to the Georgia side of the territory. The meeting was around the following... - Southeastern taking the name World Championship Wrestling for their television program, which Fuller is opposed too, Fuller saying it's not the name people watch for its the action. - Bringing in outside talent, Fullers refusal to use touring talent such as Brody, Butcher and Andre is baffling to Ted. - How Fuller is benefitting from Southeastern working under the AWA banner, it's believed Turner heavily pushing for Fuller to rejoin the NWA, even more so with Ric Flair as their champion. Turner trusted Fuller when he joined the AWA and was very happy with Superclash, but looking at the AWA champions schedule none are booked for any TV dates. It's believed with the two world title changes that happened in the past few weeks, Ted is more for Flair as world champion than Stan Hansen. That being said, Fuller and Verne are very happy with their relationship, especially with Southeastern supplementing Verne with talent over the next 6 weeks. - And as reported last week, Fuller is really hanging Georgia out to dry with talent running its towns, this weeks loop is headlined by Ken Lucas & Roy Lee Welch against The Assassins, who look to be departing in the coming weeks. Other than those 4 you have an undercard full of rookie talent. It's said Georgia business is down and Alabama business is up on 2 months ago. - Finally Turner isn't happy with the office staff of Lucas, Welch and Hickerson and wants to put in some of his own men, one believed to be a gentleman by the name of Jim Herd, don't worry we haven't heard of him either, excuse the pun. ~ What does this all mean for Fuller, Southeastern and WTBS? Well the 6 month rolling contract is coming up for renewal and as we speak I can't see Turner renewing. If he doesn't I fully expect Fuller to reopen the East Tennessee side of the territory and running Kingsport, Chattanooga and Knoxville which he has had discussions with Jarrett about running. If that's the case, I fully expect Turner to turn to Jim Crockett or Jerry Jarrett.
  19. Is there a way to filter out people who retired in 1984 on cagematch? The only reason I ask is because looking at Ken Lucas I know he retires at some point this year so I need to write him out.
  20. Realised we haven't really covered retirements. Is there a list of retirements for 1984?
  21. PROUD MEMBER OF THE AMERICAN WRESTLING ASSOCIATION SOUTHEASTERN CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING TV Saturday 14th January 1984 Taped in front of a live studio audience at the WTBS Television Studio in Atlanta, GA Hosted by Charlie Platt and Gordon Solie Gordon Solie and Charlie Platt welcome us to another exciting week of Southeastern Championship Wrestling, this week we will see National Heavyweight Champion “Wildfire” Tommy Rich in action, Jimmy Golden will be here for his Beat The Champ Television Championship Challenge, Roy Lee Welch and Ken Lucas will be in action and much, much more. At this time we welcome Jimmy Golden, who joins us for his Beat The Champ Television Championship Challenge, last week Golden beat youngster Marty Jannetty to go 1/5. Jimmy Golden tells Solie and Platt that this exercise is pointless as he will steam roll all challenges on route to getting a title shot, which for everyone’s knowledge will be against “Bullet” Bob Armstrong for the Southeastern Heavyweight Championship, especially after pinning him this past Monday. Gordon and Charlie pull the bag out with this week’s names, Charlie holds the bag open for Gordon to choose, Solie puts his hand in and pulls out a piece of paper and reads the name, this weeks challenge is Larry Hamilton. Larry Hamilton comes to the ring and as he slides into the ring, and Golden lays in the boot, referee Dave Hebner pushes Golden back to allow him to get to his feet, Hebner calls for the bell. The match starts and Golden goes straight for Hamilton, Hamilton holds his own in there but Golden is just too much and gets the win following a Piledriver and the cover for the win at 6 minutes. Jimmy Golden is now 2/5 in his quest for a title match against either the National or Southeastern Heavyweight Champions. === Advert === The returning team of Ken Lucas and Roy Lee Welch join Gordon Solie and Charlie Platt at the announcer’s desk. Lucas and Welch tell Solie and Platt that they had the Bodies defeated this past Monday and Eaton was just about to pass out in the sleeper hold only for Jim Cornette to get involved costing them the victory. But not too worry they have gone to Stanley Blackburn with the footage and they have been granted a rematch for the Southeastern Tag Team Championship. This news brings out the champs, The Heavenly Bodies with manager Jim Cornette and Big Bubba Lynch. Jim Cornette is outraged and tells Gordon Solie and Charlie Platt that Stanley Blackburn has lost his mind if he thinks The Heavenly Bodies will defending their titles against these has bean’s again, especially as they beat them already. Gordon Solie informs Cornette that there is more, not only is there a rematch, but it’s going to happen in the main event later in the show, at this point Cornette and the Bodies are going wild. Gordon informs them that there’s one more stipulation he needs to tell them and that is both Cornette and Lynch will be barred from ringside, and if they do get involved the Heavenly Bodies will be stripped off their titles and suspended from Southeastern Championship Wrestling. The studio audience goes wild and today’s main event is set for later on in the show. === Run down of this week’s action coming to Alabama and Georgia === We return from the break with Mike Davis in the ring waiting for his opponent National Heavyweight Champion “Wildfire” Tommy Rich makes his way to the ring for their match. The match goes for about 6 minutes when Tommy Rich gets the win following a Thesz Press and the pin for the win. Following the match Tommy Rich makes his way to the announcers table. Rich tell Solie and Platt he’s loving life as National Champion and can’t wait for his next challenger once he’s done with Robert Fuller, as he knows Fuller has somehow managed to get a “Last Chance” Title match, but not to worry, if he doesn’t win this Monday he won’t be entitled to another title match for 6 months. Then all of a sudden the mystery blonde women who has twice made an appearance at live events to celebrate with Tommy Rich comes to the announcers table. She offers her hand to Rich and says she would just like 2 minutes of his time, she introduces herself as Nickla Roberts and she’s would like to offer her services as a valet to Tommy Rich. Rich says it’s a lovely offer, but he’s done okay on his own up until this point in his career and will decline. Nickla Roberts tell Rich he should reconsider, as she could be an asset in more ways than one. Again Rich declines, and walks off.
