CHARLOTTE TV 06/08 - 06/14 CHARLOTTE. MUST. POSE
NintendoLogic replied to KawadaSmile's topic in WWE
They did this exact angle 14 years ago with Shawn Michaels and Vince McMahon. They even reused the "better to be pissed off than pissed on" line. The writing staff must be really burned out if they have to recycle scatological humor. -
RIP Johnny Walker, aka Mr Wrestling II

That stood out to me in a negative way as well, like if he had only dedicated one paragraph to the death of Nancy Argentino in his Snuka bio. And Walker either was convicted of or pleaded guilty to a lesser offense and had to register as a sex offender, so it was more than just an accusation. -
Too bad Mauro wasn't on commentary to help fans appreciate the match's brilliance.

Prichard has been fired by Vince multiple times in the past, so there's no reason to think it won't happen again when things go south. And as has been noted, the reward for keeping his job is constantly being at the beck and call of a micromanaging workaholic. When it comes to working for Vince, the only winning move is not to play. -
I thought the Summerslam match was a huge disappointment with a largely dead crowd. Certainly not as good as the match the two had in 2010 at Night of Champions. And then Brie and Maryse got involved and things went completely off the rails.

The 2018 feud that killed Bryan's heat to the point where they had to turn him heel to salvage him.

Is Charlotte Flair the most overpushed WWE wrestler of the century?
NintendoLogic replied to KawadaSmile's topic in WWE
The problem with this logic is that she wasn't just losing meaningless "regular season" matches. Like, it's one thing to get pinned in a tag match and then win at the PPV. But she was losing actual title matches on Raw a good amount of the time. -
Miz.

It's the latest season of the show formerly known as Real World/Road Rules Challenge (the show where Miz first made his name).

Removing Heyman from creative and replacing him with Prichard has to be the ultimate monkey's paw deal. -
He also had a really dope match with Giant Bernard in 2006.

Tanahashi absolutely has to be in the conversation unless you're completely allergic to modern New Japan. Strongly disagree with WWE being a poor environment for Bryan. In fact, I think he's been far better in WWE than he was in ROH. Most of his indy work leaves me rather cold, truth be told.

I would be shocked if Cena was a Republican or a Trump supporter. Nothing he's said or done would lead me to believe that he was. -

Isn't it just as likely that promoters knew and simply didn't care? The business back then was incredibly tolerant of all sorts of deviancy. -

Taylor was one of the guys at the center of the WCW racial discrimination lawsuit. He was also named in Konnan's racial discrimination lawsuit against TNA. -

Hayes would be my guess. Besides the obvious reasons, I think only someone with serious seniority would feel comfortable getting into it with Shawn. -

In real combat sports, the records that matter are title reign length and number of successful defenses. Of course, the old NWA champions probably had several hundred defenses during their reigns. Speaking of fake records, remember when Charlotte being undefeated on PPV was a thing? It was especially ludicrous because she lost title matches on Raw all the time. -
Never mind Kross, we need to talk about this dumb shit. That looks frighteningly close to the bump that ended Rick Rude's career. Why would anyone agree to do that? Especially Priest, who isn't exactly a spring chicken.

Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 4

Looking back, it's pretty striking how many of Baba's major booking decisions were forced on him by outside events. He broke up Jumbo and Tenryu after Choshu returned to New Japan. He strapped the rocket to Misawa after Tenryu jumped to SWS. He broke up Misawa and Kawada after hepatitis ended Jumbo's career. If Baba could be faulted for anything as a booker, it was his tendency to play a pat hand for too long in the absence of external pressure. Come to think of it, the formation of SWS had to be the ultimate blessing in disguise. Not only did it provide the impetus for Misawa's main event push, it allowed Kawada and Kobashi to move up the ranks much faster than they would have with the likes of Yoshiaki Yatsu and The Great Kabuki clogging up the midcard. -

In principle, maybe. In practice, most thigh slaps have the opposite effect by making the moves sound less impactful. 22:57 is an example of thigh slapping done right. Marufuji made it sound like he was swinging a baseball bat. -

I guess Jerry Lawler was a shitty puncher then. In other news, The Greatest Wrestling Match Ever is officially in the can. Dave said on WOR he was told the match was "really, really good" and that it was "two very smart workers working very hard to have the smartest match they possibly could under the circumstances." Make of that what you will. -

Bryan also said that Charlotte being shoehorned into the Mania main event was no big deal because we'd be getting a Becky/Ronda singles match at the next PPV for sure. The blind spot Dave and Bryan have for Charlotte is pretty infuriating. -

It'd be nice if some of the talent would speak out instead of stewing privately if it bothers them that much. Standing up for equality and human rights is great and all, but it's an empty gesture if you only do it when there's no cost to you personally. I mean, dragging Gunner is the very definition of punching down.
