  1. I thought it was mainly the house show crowds in places like Jacksonville that were doing the racist/sexist chants.
  2. It's hardly a stretch to say that Lawler wasn't exactly a whiz on the mat.
  3. If you're going to highlight a match that demonstrates Dave's love of workrate, Orton/Reigns strikes me as a rather curious choice.
  4. Brisco worked not-so-subtle heel against Jumbo in 1976.
  5. It was the 1995 Carnival Misawa was injured in (specifically, he broke his orbital bone). He had to pull out of the 1994 Carnival due to an injury, but that was a work. Baba didn't want Misawa winning that year, but he also didn't want him doing any jobs.

Don't forget John Cena getting fired after the 2010 one and missing exactly zero weeks.

I have to imagine that Lawler got an earful from Vince for acknowledging that Rusev is actually from Bulgaria.
  8. Using Taue as an example of doing more with less is pretty funny. He was a legit high-level athlete who competed in sumo's second-highest division. Just because someone looks physically awkward doesn't mean he's unathletic. Peyton Manning is another example.

You know the Divas are still being graded on a pity curve when consistently having matches without a horrific botch is considered praiseworthy. That's like praising Khali on the grounds that he hasn't killed anybody since arriving in WWE. Seriously, let them have a 20 minute match that the crowd doesn't completely turn on halfway through and then we'll talk.
  10. Jericho mentions in his books that Shawn was one of his main inspirations. Not to mention the fact that he worked two separate feuds with Shawn built around that idea.
  11. The only Hall Big Daddy belongs in is the Hall of Pain.
  12. I'd rate Luger/Steamboat the best US title match ever even in a world with Magnum/Tully. On the other hand, I actively hate the Final Conflict tag match.
  13. Probably Fujiwara. He may be a master of a particular style, but it's a style that I find virtually unwatchable, and guys like Volk Han were much better at making the style entertaining to me.
  14. One big difference that tripped up a lot of guys in the late 90s/early 00s was that the WWF expected heels to pop up and feed the babyface's comeback as opposed to selling like in WCW.
  15. Consistent selling within a style/promotion isn't a good thing if it consistently sucks. Does anyone think that Atlantis and Ultimo Guerrero were wrong to do prolonged selling of high impact moves instead of video game selling like everyone else in CMLL?

    Outback Jack?
  17. I thought this sentence in the most recent Observer was worth highlighting given the discussion of New Japan's booking on this board: Note that this is the beginning of a paragraph in which he does, in fact, criticize New Japan's booking-specifically, running Okada vs. Nakamura at the Seibu Dome with two days build.
  18. Of course everything doesn't have to lead to the finish. But everything should lead to something. No one goes into a James Bond movie expecting him to be finished off by the deathtrap he'll inevitably be caught in, but we still expect him to escape using his wits or some cool gadget and not just get up and walk out.
  19. I disagree completely. I'm not particularly interested in how many ways Razor Ramon has of working the leg if Shawn is just going to blow it all off. It's like raving about a fight scene in a movie that ends with both guys walking away without a scratch and has no impact whatsoever on the plot.
  20. If that match was all Jarrett, why did he never have any other matches that were anywhere near as good?
  21. Vince's track record when he goes into panic mode suggests that the opposite will be true. My understanding was that anything less than 900k would be an unmitigated disaster. I don't see how there's any way to spin this.

Actually, yes. I've heard several people criticize the All Japan crew on the grounds that wrestling is supposed to be a work and it doesn't take any skill to hit someone full force.
  23. Beefcake's work with the Dream Team should be enough to take him out of the running.
  24. In a real fight, you don't just stand there and invite your opponent to pop you. That's not a fight, it's a macho pissing contest. Beyond that, I think wrestling is a lot better when guys act like stuff that doesn't hurt does than when they act like stuff that does hurt doesn't.
  25. How about Velvet Sky? She's not some model that John Laurinaitis picked out of a catalog. She went to an actual wrestling school, worked the indies, paid her dues...and she's still just as bad as any FCW bikini contest participant.
