"The name on the contract does say Khan. However..." In all seriousness, there's basically zero chance of this actually happening, which is a good thing because monopolies suck regardless of who owns them.
-
I mean, telling Takeshita to speak American was pretty much JBL-tier.
-
I'm actually a pretty big fan of MJF in the ring, but the cheap heat edgelord act is tired and cringe. So naturally his current gimmick is that he never wrestles and cuts interminable "the local sports team SUCKS" promos every week.

Wait...so Saraya's partner was Toni Storm???

Something else to consider is that negotiations for new TV deals are set to begin soon. Big corporations for the most part have no problem doing business with the Saudis, but their involvement in sports and entertainment so far has been a one-way street where they pay big bucks to host events and buy teams. Taking Saudi money is one thing, but companies seem to draw the line at paying them for content, which is why LIV Golf has to buy air time.
-
Yeah, I was about to say Takeshita/Kingston was no picnic either.
-
The only ones lending credence to the idea that a Saudi sale was imminent were no-name clout chasers. Still, the language used in the official denials is quite revealing. No deal in place at this precise moment. It's untrue that they're near a deal. That would seem to indicate it's less a matter of if than when.

He'd be a lot better if he wrestled more like early 90s Jumbo. Then again, the same is true of literally every wrestler who ever lived. You know what, I think Max Caster's rap is what I'm looking forward to most tonight.
-
It's entirely possible that Vince cut a deal on the sly while he was out, but that would mean the Saudis cut a check without conducting any kind of due diligence. Then again, they don't seem to care if their sportswashing enterprises actually run a profit. One thing's for sure: there's no way in hell Dwayne appears at Mania at this rate.

AEW TV 1/4 and 1/6 - The One Where Danielson Wrestles Nese

He should have come out to My World and hit Ospreay with a guitar. -
Hell yeah.

One of the great things about wrestling is that it has the ability to make even the lamest songs seem cool. Take Bad Medicine by Bon Jovi, for instance. Terrible song, but it somehow becomes awesome when Dr. Wagner comes out to it. And the WM17 Rock/Austin promo video wouldn't be the same without My Way. -

Jarrett really has been a breath of fresh air in AEW. And he's a draw. Ain't he great? -

Luckily, Brazil's Congress was in recess so all they managed to do was storm an empty building. Looks like Brazil's fascists are even dumber than their American counterparts. In other news, I'm sure everyone here will be jumping at the chance to be the first kid on their block to rock the official replica mask of THE OMNIPOTENT UNCLE HOWDY. https://shop.wwe.com/en/uncle-howdy-replica-mask/p-16797954172205+z-9270-3221080341?_ref=p-HP:m-NA:pi-CAROUSEL_1:i-r0c0:po-0 The college football national championship is tonight and the Bucs/Cowboys playoff game is next Monday night, so don't expect much in the way of major happenings on Raw these next two weeks. -

If we're being honest, the main purpose of the YouTube shows is to pad the W-L records of wrestlers who aren't involved in any major programs at the moment. And every now and then you get happy accidents like Athena getting herself over by killing jobbers. What I don't understand is getting worked up over Dark and Elevation existing. Even if you think they're pointless, it's not as if they're actively detrimental to the product. -
The Jags will almost certainly have the lion's share of TK's attention if they go deep into the playoffs, which means the booking leading up to Revolution will likely be even more scatterbrained than usual.

Saying grunge was on the way out in January of 1995 is a bit of a stretch considering Vitalogy was the number one album in the county at the end of December 1994. Regardless, pro wrestling isn't exactly known for capitalizing on pop culture trends in a timely manner. There was less of a gap between the death of Kurt Cobain and the debut of Raven than the death of Brandon Lee and the debut of Crow Sting. Speaking of which, Raven was initially described in the Observer as "Johnny Polo doing a take-off on 'The Crow.'" -
I continue to maintain that an appreciable segment of the fanbase believed wrestling was at least partially real. I don't know how else you explain all the instances of fans trying to shoot or stab heels. Newspapers reporting wrestling as a work doesn't mean anything. A small but non-trivial percentage of the population continues to deny the link between cigarettes and lung cancer (6% according the most recent Gallup poll on the subject) even though cigarette packages themselves tell you that smoking will kill you.
-
Did it, though? The best thing going right now (the Bloodline/Sami storyline) began under Vince. The rest of the shows are mainly just boring with most of the excitement coming from surprise returns. I suppose that's an improvement over being completely nonsensical, but I don't know if it's a vast one.

Kind of odd to cite WWE as precedent when there are far more instances of wrestlers changing established names after joining that company (like, say, Steven Regal). The Steves who kept their names had distinctive nicknames that served as Homeric epithets (Dr. Death, The Lethal Weapon). It would behoove one or both Mercedes to do likewise. I'm sorry, but "The CEO" ain't it. Also, TAFKA Sasha needs to go back to the drawing board if she wants a new finisher because that Gory special DDT thing she did to Kairi looked like shit.

WWE TV 1/2 - 1/8 Mountain Dew Pitch Black Match

I don't know what sounds more unappealing: drinking Mountain Dew or watching Bray Wyatt wrestle. -
What makes it even more incredible is that Barrios and Wilson are part of Vince's counter-coup when he's the one who fired them in the first place. It's like a 1999 episode of Raw.

Ratings have historically lagged behind attendance as a barometer of how hot or cold a company's product is. AEW's Seattle debut just drew more paid than WWE's debut in the same building. And their PPV business continues to be incredibly strong. -
The biggest ramification of this announcement: It's what's best for business.

Jeff Jarrett isn't leaving me anything in his will, so I don't give a shit about how much money he's making for himself. With that said, I've enjoyed him in AEW so far and I'm fine with him being featured on TV as long as he remains at the level he's currently positioned and doesn't carny his way to another world title run. By the way, I strongly suspect that licensing old TNA themes to AEW is Impact's largest (only?) source of revenue at the moment.
