  1. I wouldn't be surprised if Ibushi was on WWE's radar, but I strongly doubt they would prioritize him over White. In addition to being a decade older and not fluent in English, he hasn't wrestled in over a year due to injuries and other issues.
  2. I could see Omega wanting to go to WWE to make a point. His stint in WWE developmental nearly killed his passion for the business, so going back as a star would show that it's possible to beat the system. Or maybe he just wants to stick it to Bill DeMott.
  3. Meltzer tweeted yesterday about "contracts due" being a "key issue" for AEW. And he reported back in December that Omega's contract was set to expire at the end of January. Moreover, the current Observer says that people in WWE who would know about Mania season acquisitions don't know anything about Jay White coming in and said that a much bigger free agent who was in play was the priority. Reading the tea leaves, it could be that AEW is keeping Omega out of the main event picture until his contract situation is resolved because they don't want to have to awkwardly write him off like they did Regal if he does leave.
  4. Is anyone really surprised? I mean, look at the advertised lineup. The biggest thing announced was MJF cutting an "[insert town] sucks" promo. Credit where credit is due, though, this is some quality cheap heat.
  5. Even in her prime, she was only good by Diva standards. She got over initially because she seemed more attainable to the college-age guys who went to the Full Sail tapings than the bikini models WWE was so fond of at the time.
  6. Never mind the question of who Roman should face. The real big Mania news is that we're getting new movie parody trailers.
  7. I thought it was well-known that Jarrett and Lawler switched off on booking duties every six months. You can clearly see it if you pay attention to the booking in Memphis. You'd get six months of classic style Southern rasslin' followed by six months of Lawler feuding with Ta-Gar, Lord of the Volcano.
  8. I could see them doing something like the Eurocontinental title match at WM2000 and have Roman lose both belts without being pinned for either. That way, you send the fans home happy (or at least happier than they would be if Roman retains) and save the Roman/Cody singles match for Summerslam (which actually needs a big main event since it probably can't sell out a stadium on name value alone).
  9. Isn't Yellowstone like the most popular show on TV right now?
  10. If you need another example of why pro wrestling continues to draw such low ad rates, some fans apparently legitimately called the police to report MJF after his promo on Dynamite.
  11. I am all about this. Dickhead Okada is the best Okada.
  12. Remember Alex Riley? He's back, in Top Dolla form! My brother in Christ, Billy Corgan's NWA is not worth dying for. By the way, in case you thought this company couldn't get any worse, we're getting both a full-fledged CYN invasion now that EC3 has officially signed and a Tyrus/Bully Ray world title feud.
  13. Rey obviously should be treated as a legend who only loses sparingly and when it means something, but he's never been presented that way at any point in his WWE career. Doing it now would be like trying to put toothpaste back in the tube.
  14. Luger had a passion for making money, and pro wrestling was easy money for someone with his size and physique. He was disciplined in his training and diet since his body was his meal ticket, but he never had any real respect for the craft of wrestling. Just about everyone who worked with him has said that he considered the business beneath him.
  15. Step 1: fuck around Step 2: find out
  16. The only Alexa matches I thought were passable were the ones against Ronda. The best use of her in the ring is as a glorified manager who gains a momentary advantage through stalling or cheating before being thoroughly destroyed. Presenting her as a dominant heel who knocked people out with a single punch might have been even more intelligence-insulting than the Bray Wyatt shit. Good for her for overcoming anorexia, but if it stunted her growth to the point where she can't take bumps, then pro wrestling might not be the ideal career choice.
  17. Counterpoint: Lex Luger.
  18. He broke his finger at a house show in December.
  19. She made her account private. What did the tweet say? Not that it really matters since nothing a WWE wrestler says about the sheetz being wrong can be taken at face value.
  20. Reports are it was a stroke. His condition is improving, but the situation is still very serious.
  21. It stands for "poof," which is UK/Commonwealth slang for a gay man. I don't quite know how it compares in offensiveness to the f-word in the US, but it's not exactly a term of endearment.
  22. Censoring "wanker" but not "dickhead" might be the most Australian thing I've ever seen.
  23. What piles of money are they turning down? If we're looking at non-guaranteed revenue, Sami in the main event of Mania won't result in a single additional ticket sold. And Cody is the one whose merch is flying off the shelves. Speaking of merch movers, it has come to light that Bray worked the Mountain Dew match with a broken finger he had sustained at a house show in December, which is probably why it was as short as it was. Truth be told, that was probably a blessing in disguise since it almost certainly would have been even worse had it gone longer. In completely unrelated news: This guy's best friends with everybody, isn't he?
  24. Not sure what it says about the PC that WWE feels the need to outsource the in-ring aspect of developmental. That, or there are select indies they want to acquire/shut down and they plan on sending NXT talent as a Trojan horse.
  25. On the other hand, Dave Mirra was diagnosed with CTE. I'ts highly unlikely that he'll be the only extreme sports star with that diagnosis.
