I'm going to WrestleMania but that still have no desire to actually watch the weekly TV build to the show. Just past the point of being able to stick through a whole show and watch it. So WrestleMania comes down to having good matches for me to watch live in person. I'm disappointed with Rock/Cena and Lesnar/HHH as those are two matches I really don't want to watch again. Just seems like the losers from previous matches will get their wins back. I'm guessing there will be some big tag team match to get guys on the card. I'm just hoping the mid card delivers some quality matches. Punk/Undertaker will make for an interesting live experience but I don't see Punk winning at all.

[1991-01-30-WCW-Clash of the Champions XIV] Ric Flair vs Scott Steiner
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in January 1991
Flair gets an atomic drop in successfully. Steiner clotheslines Flair over the top rope in front of the referee but no disqualification. This makes the tag match finish from earlier continue to look worse and worse. The Steiners really look like idiots at times. Here Scott stands in the ring while Flair is outside on the floor which a minute left in the time limit. Show some urgency Scott. He then taunts to the crowd as the time is being counted down. What a moron. Not ready to be a top singles guy.- 14 replies

So much for that. Paul takes a peak at Missy’s chest and gets beat right away. It can happen. Dusty wants Paul to know he has let all the men down.

[1991-01-30-WCW-Clash of the Champions XIV] Interview: Stan Hansen
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in January 1991
WCW has match signed between Vader and Stan Hansen. I like them using footage from their NJPW Dome match to put things over. But then Stan looks silly with the chew hanging out of his mouth. Stan puts over the legitimacy of wrestling in Japan.- 7 replies

Apter is on the WCW payroll giving all these PWI awards to their wrestlers. How can Sting win Wrestler of the Year missing 3-4 months? Dusty puts over the troops in the Middle East also. Don’t be talking bad about the President. Dusty is back where he belongs.

[1991-01-30-WCW-Clash of the Champions XIV] Sting & Lex Luger vs Doom
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in January 1991
Check out who is announcing. That was a quick return back to WCW for Dusty. That was a cheap DQ finish as Sting really jumped over the top rope himself. Reed was ducking a flying attack. Slow motion replay makes it look worse.- 11 replies

I love that the fans boo when the guy says he can see. Brother Love is a true faith healer. I can feel the love. Then the guy is able to get up to his feet but just walks away backstage. He didn’t seem too enthusiastic.

[1991-01-28-WWF-Primetime Wrestling] Fans wishes to the Gulf War Troops
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in January 1991
Fans wish the troops the best and thank them. Not much else to add. -
We start off with Taue and Kawada which is the right thing. Their hate has been a real welcome addition to these six man tags. Kawada knocks Jumbo into the railing at one point and you know he will get his later. Jumbo is pissed off when he finally gets in there with Kawada. I thought it was a foregone conclusion that Kikuchi would take the pinfall but Taue gets the win over Kawada to continue their feud on. Kawada was the man of the match here for me.

[1991-01-26-WCW-Saturday Night] Arn Anderson & Barry Windham vignette
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in January 1991
Black and white video with a real nice feel to it. Arn thinks the Horsemen may have got too civilized towards the end of the 80’s. Barry and Arn will be telling the truth form now on. Both men carrying sledgehammers. They will do things as violent as the law allows. Arn was great in this.- 9 replies

[1991-01-26-WCW-Saturday Night] Paul E. Dangerously and Missy Hyatt
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in January 1991
“Why don’t you wear that?” is a good line by Missy after slapping Dangerously in the face. Missy’s workout video was very brief. What a tease. She seemed more serious about her workout compared to Paul though.- 6 replies

Scott Steiner points his finger the whole time during his promo. Nobody has ever got up from the Frankensteiner. Flair does his own finger pointing. He praises Ted Turner and Jane Fonda’s marriage. Okay. Ted must have fed him that line.

[1991-01-26-USWA-Memphis TV] Jerry Lawler, Bill Dundee & Fabulous Ones
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in January 1991
Lawler seems to be going at it alone. He survives a tennis racket shot from Cornette and Kiern. Dundee finally comes to Lawler’s aid. Beatdown by the heels with Dundee getting caught in the ropes by the neck. Dundee thinks the Fabulous Ones are puppets with Cornette pulling the strings. He doesn’t like The Fabs listening to someone like Cornette. Cornette and the Fabulous Ones are not in studio so as to avoid the overweight female fans. They keep bringing up Funk which reminds me his is still champion. There wasn’t much of a bounty on Dundee though. Now they get Lawler and Jarrett in a tag match with the chance to get the full bounty. Lawler talks about some of the big names who have come to Memphis who he beat. He’s after the World Tag titles as that’s what will hurt the Fabulous Ones the most. -
[1991-01-26-USWA-Memphis TV] Jerry Lawler vs Terrence Garvin
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in January 1991
Garvin gives the ladies some hair advice such as actually washing and conditioning it. Bruno wearing a tuxedo. He’s the new Sid. Must be getting ready for those eventual Finkel matches. Scott Bowden referring the match in his business casual clothes. Bruno has moved uptown. Long TV studio match but a lot of stalling in it. Bruno gets involved a couple times. Lawler has some scissors and tries to cut Garvin’s hair which causes him to run off and get counted out. -
[1991-01-26-AJPW-New Year Giant Series] Mitsuharu Misawa vs Akira Taue
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in January 1991
Cool to see the debut of Tiger Driver 91! I would too like to see match in full to see if the use of this move was necessary since it seemed to be more a big match desperation move by Misawa.- 13 replies

[1991-01-25-USWA Texas] Eric Embry vs Gary Young

Announcer wasn’t believing that pin fall attempt going into commercial break. Embry really needs the beard look. A bit slow with the bearhug spots. Young wins with the loaded fist.- 8 replies

[1991-01-25-USWA Texas] Bill Dundee vs John Tatum
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in January 1991
I thought Dundee got himself another valet before realizing it was Tessa. Tatum is still hung up about her. The crowd is noticeable smaller. Tessa tricks Tatum with a hug to get Dundee the win. These feud does feel played out.- 7 replies

[1991-01-20-WCW-Main Event] Danger Zone: Ric Flair & Scott Steiner
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in January 1991
We get clips of Flair doing an interview after winning the title. I would think they would be celebrating more. He gets face to face with the Steiners. I did like the Wallstreet moment of just leaving and getting in a high five.- 6 replies

Sting and Flair square off early in match. The focus becomes Flair/Scott Steiner as they mention upcoming match at the Clash. Scott cleaning house. Never felt like we would get a clean type finish as with the amount of guys in the match they were breaking up pinfall/submission attempts really easy. Agreed about the match feeling crowded. Smaller ring makes it harder for the big tag matches.

[1991-01-19-WCW-Saturday Night] Interview: Ric Flair / Interview: Sting
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in January 1991
Sting looks like he doesn’t seem to care much after losing his title. He shook things up by losing the belt I guess. Flair mentions Sid so I guess he’s still in the Horsemen. He membership in the group has been fuzzy from the yearbook viewing.- 8 replies

[1991-01-19-WCW-Saturday Night] Interview: Paul E. Dangerously
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in January 1991
Paul brings the man hate against the broads. Heyman gets music to his promo but doesn’t do any actual working out. He doesn’t like women invading the work place. WCW used Robocop last year so they should have used Al Bundy and No Ma’am this time around. I await Missy’s workout.- 7 replies

So Savage never entered Rumble. Hogan and Tugboat go at it and Hogan eliminates Tugboat from behind. So that would be three Rumbles in a row where he eliminated a friend from behind. Makes his 1992 tantrum continue to look worse. Did Hogan really need to survive the Earthquake Splash when he was already in a 2-1 handicap situation? Hogan was the obvious choice to win anyways. I'll have to go back and watch this Rumble in full. I think I preferred it more the the 90 version.

Dusty misses a charge gets rolled up by DiBiase. Dusty kind of just bails to check on Dustin. Seemed a flat finish to the Dusty/DiBiase feud. Crowd chanting Virgil right away. DiBiase does some berating of Virgil to get his Million Dollar Belt. Crowd totally wants Virgil to clock DiBiase. And he delivers the belt shot to huge pop. Really cool moment. Having them together so long and then teasing the friction over the past year really worked in the end.

[1991-01-19-WWF-Royal Rumble] Sgt. Slaughter vs Ultimate Warrior
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in January 1991
Earl Hebner with awful ring positioning until finally getting Slaughter to break the Camel clutch. Here’s Sherri to interfere Warrior drops her on her head and then launches her outside to Savage below. Poor Sherri. Savage takes out Warrior with scepter. Crowd not liking that finish. Seemed silly that both Piper and Monsoon were shocked at Fink announcing Slaughter as the winner when they clearly saw him get pinned in the ring. Best part of match was left out when Savage completely blind sided Warrior near the entrance earlier in the match.
