[1991-03-02-WWF-Superstars] Brother Love: Ultimate Warrior
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in March 1991
Brother Love calls Warrior a has been. Warrior has ditched his patriotic look. Warrior is ready to end Savage’s career at WrestleMania but wants to end other careers too. He trashes the Brother Love show stage and then beats up Love in the ring. Goodbye Brother Love but you had this one coming. -
[1991-03-02-WWF-Superstars] Update: Sgt. Slaughter/Hulk Hogan update
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in March 1991
Yeah, Gene was overboard there on a poster being lit on fire. We get to see some of the Slaughter rules as he beats up a ringside medic who was trying to assist a jobber who was beat up by Sarge. -
The Texas/Tennessee feud does not extend to USWA-TX. Yanemoto is wearing a Augusta Masters jacket. Embry makes sure he has no fans rooting for him. Jarrett/Embry go back and forth dodging each other punches. Dundee was almost invisible until the last couple minutes. Young and Embry go at it after with Embry beating up Young with help of Austin. They teased Embry turning on Young so it was executed well in the end.

[1991-03-15-USWA Texas] Jeff Jarrett vs Tom Prichard
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in March 1991
The play by play guy really likes Jeff Jarrett. Good match that started a bit slow but picked up. Jarrett looking strong. Liked the finish with Prichard loading up his shoe for the enziguiri.- 11 replies

Smooth mat work too start. Didn’t think there was enough damage done to Santo to get pinned so quickly though. Something you have to deal with on these two out of three falls matches. G. Gordon Liddy is asking some kid questions backstage between falls. The crowd is right up against the ring in certain areas which isn’t good for any dive attempts. Well they do find a spot for Santo to dive on to Casas. Not a whole lot of room. Good match.

Not horrible or anything but nothing special about it. At least it wasn’t too long. Combat has tough task trying to be similar to Bull and Aja.

They actually break a Japanese table. Good on the folks spotting it beforehand. As mentioned in other comments this more straight wrestling than maybe what you would expect. But it’s nice change. Couldn’t tell if they botched the finish or not. But Onita hits another powerbomb to make sure.

I want more stories about Andre drinking and less about him crapping on people and trying to 69. Less talking about Larry’s book too. Anyways, there will never be another Andre to me due to his size and aura. Agreed on how good his facials were. Re-watched WrestleMania 3 recently and they do a backstage interview with Heenan and Andre where Bobby does all the talking and The Giant just stands there. Andre has the look on his face that he is going to murder Hogan that night. Only watched the NJPW 80’s set recently and Andre was fantastic. He was still able to go at that point. I heard the talk about the Hansen match so was worried it wouldn’t live up to the hype but it was great and so was the Khan bout. I will have to track down the Kobayashi match. While there may not be a whole lot of video footage of his prime, I think he came around at the right time as far as his career. Being a special attraction he was able to go to so many different territories which kept him fresh. He wasn’t on national television each week which allowed for the idea to the average fan that he was undefeated in his career. Stuff like the excessive drinking added to his legend. If he came around in this era, he’d be sent to rehab by WWE to try clean up. I know you guys talked over 90 minutes but I was hoping to hear more about Andre post WWF in the early 90s. Leaving WWF, Cameos in UWF and WCW and still wrestling in All Japan.

I'm in the same camp of Loss on this one. I needed more Misawa/Kawada kicking some ass. Alright match but I was waiting for it to get going more especially with the time it was given. Clothesline finish wasn't good enough with the slow pin fall count from Joe. They do a big sell job of Misawa having to be carried out at the end.

[1991-02-25-WWF-Primetime Wrestling] Pick The Brain
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in February 1991
What is up with Vince’s outfit? Bobby is so quick with his responses. Good stuff. -
[1991-02-25-WWF-Primetime Wrestling] Vince McMahon and Bobby Heenan
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in February 1991
Lava Cam? Vince and Heenan chatting in the men’s room. Breaking down the fourth wall. -
So Arn is sitting this one out? I guess do to an injury but sucks to not have him in there. Windham is already bloodied up. Horsemen win the coin toss. No J.J. Dillion here but I think some NFL team should have got him just for the coin tosses. Nice audible by Sid/Rick Steiner. All the figure fours on is a really cool spot. Pillman was great throughout match. The ceiling is scary low. Viscous powerbomb by Sid to say the least. Powerbomb 91? Gigante comes to the aid to stop the match? Bit of a crap finish to that. Below 92 version but still a real good match.

[1991-02-24-WCW-Wrestle War '91] Fabulous Freebirds vs Doom
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in February 1991
Quality entrance by Fabulous Freebirds/DDP and the Diamond Dolls. DDP introduces another member of the group. I couldn't figure out that was Humperink until reading the comments. Doom don’t look like they are on the same page. Homey don’t play that. Shout out to In Living Color. Reed hits Simmons in error causing the title change. Freebirds don’t seem like the right team at this point to put tag titles on. Official break up of Doom. Ross interviews a fan about his favorite tag team in War Games which is Doom. Oops.- 9 replies

[1991-02-24-WCW-Wrestle War '91] Lex Luger and Nikita Koloff
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in February 1991
Nikita refers to Luger as the Lexster. He is proud to hit Luger in the face with the U.S. Title. He must have stolen Teddy Long’s do rag. Koloff feels the need to strip down during his promo. Grizzly Smith did dwarf the other guys when he was standing there beside them.- 10 replies

[1991-02-24-WCW-Wrestle War '91] Lex Luger vs Dan Spivey
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in February 1991
Spivey gets the Tombstone piledriver. Spivey gets a lot of offense in and seems an even match for Luger which kind of surprised me. Good match with Luger winning off a reversal too. Spivey was a serious challenger here.- 13 replies

[1991-02-24-WCW-Wrestle War '91] Big Van Vader vs Stan Hansen
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in February 1991
Hansen gets hit with a corner splash which knocks out his chew. The ref lets them get away with the outside the ring brawling which bothered Ross. These guys just aren’t going to give us a clean finish. Not as good as their Japan matches as more the shorter abbreviation of their brawls from there.- 12 replies

[1991-02-24-WCW-Wrestle War '91] Missy Hyatt and Stan Hansen
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in February 1991
Missy is making history by going into the men’s locker room for an interview. Stan Hansen spanks her with his hat. Missy is going to call someone. Tony thinks this is all one big fun job. He enjoys women getting theirs.- 10 replies

[1991-02-24-WCW-Main Event] Missy Hyatt and El Gigante

Missy is begging El Gigante for an interview. Gigante wants a dance first. I think this is the equivalent of Joe Namath kissing Suzy Kolber.- 7 replies

Don’t know if it’s the crowd being piped in but Slaughter is getting alot of crowd heat. More Slaughter rules talk. Right, one’s memory thinks that Slaughter burned the U.S flag instead of a Hogan poster. Heenan has never seen Hogan that hot before.

[1991-02-23-USWA-Memphis TV] Jeff Jarrett and J.C. Ice
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in February 1991
Jarrett talks about all Bill Dundee has done to be successful in wrestling. He thinks JC Ice is a joke and makes him sick. Bill Dundee walked seven miles to the Memphis office to get a job. I had a Junior High School teacher who use to tell us all the time how he walks five miles to school each day.
