  1. Mr. Perfect with The Genius and not Bobby Heenan nor with the Intercontinental title so must have been taped way before. Hogan promo. Is that Undertaker’s hat in the background? Teasing what’s to come later in the year? Think it’s a Texas themed Main Event. Perfect is bouncing all over the ring for Hogan. Hogan uses his Axe Bomber clothesline. Seemed like he never really used that much in WWF. The scroll gets involved and Perfect turns the tide against Hulk. Perfectplex and Hogan hulks up. Totally kills the move like that. Same old finish wins it for Hogan. Hulk just launches Genius over the top rope with a bodyslam. Well, that was uncalled for.
  2. Think it over creep! It does kind of make me want to watch one of the Robocop movies right now.
  3. So Tony must have just returned to WCW at this point. Sting never considered retirement. The little Stingers helped Sting when he was at his lowest points. It’s funny when a wrestler makes a mistake on a tape promo and they still show it.
  4. Flair says he’s the greatest wrestler of all time.. today. I like how he phrased that. Lex Luger doing his Smokey the Bear public service announcement about not trying to fight forest fires with a garden hose.
  5. Valiant thinks Ben Jordan can be the next champion. Wow, this guy was a big time prospect in 1990. Valiant is willing to give him a title shot. Lawler doesn’t want Valiant wasting his time on Jordan. Lawler wants the title shot instead. Lawler pressures Jordan into a match with the number one contendership on the line. Jordan bleeding from the head and missing wildly with his punches. Lawler kind of toying with him. An extended squash in the end outside of Jordan’s initial flurry of offense to start the match. That was pretty stupid of Jordan to put his title shot on the line.
  6. Valiant has a little song for us. Dave Brown really enjoys this.
  7. Ben Jordan is excited at his chance to face Lawler and he’s ready to capitalize on a Lawler mistake to win the title. Lawler talks Jordan down for never winning any matches. Doesn’t really make sense that he’s getting a World Title match. Lawler versus New York Mauler which is also a World Title match. That music sounds familiar. We don’t know for sure who this Mauler is but he has a kiss for Dave Brown. Lawler is forced to wrestle the match with Valiant due to the new rules. Only a ten minute time limit. Crowd is behind Lawler though. Lawler using stalling to run down the time. Time limit runs out but new rules it’s now sudden death. Can’t believe they could have the world title change on a man just knocking the other off his feet. Both men do their best to not fall down. Lawler misses a dropkick but since he left his feet he loses the match and the title! Awful finish though there seems to be some issue with the result.
  8. I felt like they are really pipping in the audience post production. Brother Love thinks Earthquake is responsible for Hogan losing the belt. I was hoping for Earthquake to squash Hogan but I guess that happens later on.
  9. Rude continues to remind us that he has beaten Warrior before. I like that since nobody else at that time could really say that. Plays up Rude as a serious challenger.
  10. Bad News Brown gets all upset that Gene knows he will be celebrating his birthday. Okerlund has a present for Brown which is a rubber snake. Bad News roughs up Mean Gene for being involved in this. That was deserving.
  11. Lawler explains the stipulations of a Texas Toughman match. Need to see that one in person to see the full effect.
  12. Dibiase overmatches early with a series of armdrags. Michaels comes back with a couple dropkicks and armdrags of his own. Referee Marella getting physically involved by repeatedly pushing Michaels out of pinning position due to Dibiase using the tights in plain sight. Dibiase misses his turnbuckle back elbow drop. Michaels get a really close two count on a diving cross body but Virgil gets involved. Match ends in a disqualification. I was totally expecting a Dibiase win here. Michaels handled himself pretty good in singles match. Nice match but below what we are currently seeing in WCW.
  13. They show the 8 men who were in the Intercontinental tournament but don’t show the results other than Perfect and Santana making it to the finals. They reverse many hammerlocks. Perfect trips up Santana and McMahon tries to say it was pure luck. Jesse runs on this making the point that it’s Perfect’s skill. Perfect does his flippy upside overselling of kicks. Here’s Bobby as he shows up ringside. Mr. Perfect outsmarts Santana and gets the win with a small package. I must be confusing this match with another match they had from this year as this was not as good as I remembered. Mr. Perfect introduces Heenan as his new manager.
  14. Ric Flair is returning to Minnesota and bringing the World Championship. He makes some Minnesota sports failure references. Commercial for joint card of NWA and AWA. Interesting to see NWA doing business with AWA at this point.
  15. Lance Russell and Teddy Long doing commentary. Gibson smacks Lane good in the face. Nice slingshot into a backbreaker by Eaton. Don’t think I’ve ever seen that one. Ha, Nice Patrick does a leap frog in the ring which helps the Rock n’ Roll turn the corner. Patrick has some good hops. That ha potential to be botched. Freebirds down to distract and Midnights get the win. Really good match. Cornette has been getting roughed up quite a bit.
  16. Austin wants to bring out the most beautiful woman. Out comes Jeannie. With Jeannie at his side, Austin will go to the very top and be World Champion. Announcer Marc seemed to be kind of blowing off Austin here. Austin’s opponent is Frogman. Adams comes out to confront Jeannie. I think things are out of order here as Adams previously had a promo about Jeannie and they are playing it up here not wondering what is going on. Austin uses a double underhook suplex. I can’t recall him using that one in WWF.
  17. I’m sold on getting feather weights for my next pair of glasses. The host was wearing some big frames himself.
  18. Video of Lawler kicking ass and cheating when he can. The chain is heavily featured in this of course.
  19. Nobody is wearing boots. Borne sits down on Kevin Von Erich’s shoulders and uses the ropes for leverage. Crowd didn’t seem all that bothered by finish which surprised me with a Von Erich involved. Kerry Von Erich interrupts Borne interview. Kerry calls Borne one of the greatest wrestlers ever. Von Erich considers Borne still a friend and won’t fight him but only wrestle him. Kerry seemed all over the place here coming out really aggressive and making out what Borne did against Kevin to be the most henious thing ever. Then he’s all like were friends and were just going to wrestle.
  20. Adams is not happy that his ex-wife is hanging out with foe Austin. He wants a match next week with Austin. However, Austin is already locked in a match with Eric Embry. Adams wants Embry to come out and talk about this. Embry will give up his match if he can get a match with Lawler instead. Garvin out to back up Gossett who is getting into it with Embry. This lines between thrown out by everyone are so corny. Embry boasts about beating Garvin with one hand behind his back. Garvin immediately calls Embry on this. So Embry ends up getting Garvin instead of Austin or Lawler.
  21. Lawler states that Jarrett is one of the most hated wrestlers in all of wrestling. Jerry likes piling on Jarrett.
  22. Lawler’s interview is pretty short. I don’t recognize the other guys by face who come out for an interview but remember Brickhouse Brown for from the old PWI top 500 list.
  23. USWA and the ring doctors not exactly doing pre match safety testing for Lawler who is still woozy from his attack from Nitron. Lawler tries to give it ago but ends up getting escorted out of the ring to the back. Thriller with the Technical Win!
  24. Nat puts a plastic tarp down on floor in front of announcer desk. He comes out later with food and wants to speak to Lawler. Jerry lets him know that none of this food is to get on him. Lawler is not taking Nate serious at all just laughing and makes jokes as Nate rants on and on about Jerry. Nate wants to feel again when he got food all over himself. Lawler proceeds to smash all the food in Nate’s face as requested. This kind of drags on. End of segment is Nitron showing up to defend Nate and knocking out Lawler.
  25. Eddie Marlin comes out to boos from the studio audience which Lawler enjoys it. Marlin has some new rules for USWA. First rule is all matches must end with a finish and no disqualifications. Like that one. Lawler as champion doesn’t like this. The technical loss is a bit silly though as it seems similar to a disqualification. There will be stiff penalties against for outside inference resulting in a technical loss. Another rules a sudden death where once time limit passes it will be decided by who the first person is knock their opponent off their feet. Don’t like this one as remember it in WCW with Sting and Vader and it deciding the number one contender.
