Tony does voice over of the Sting/Rude title change and glosses over a woman being out there ringside. You would think they would have shown clip of the back bump or maybe they weren’t aware of serious of injury yet.

[1994-05-07-SMW-TV] Jake Roberts and Dirty White Boy
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in May 1994
Jake should have become a manager/mouth piece for other wrestlers. Jake talks about first seeing Dirt White Boy ten years ago and thinking how he would never make it in wrestling. DWB sure has hung around a long time for someone who hasn’t made it. But this is evil Jake talking here. -
[1994-05-07-SMW-TV] Jim Cornette and Bruiser Bedlam training video
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in May 1994
SMW taking the production values to the next level. We hit the gym again. This was funny with Cornette talking in the background as Bruiser bench presses and cuts a brief promo after each success. Punching the nails through the board was cool and he breaks bottles over his head. Bedlam was charming here. -
Clips of Lawler in control of the match and Double J shows up! He hits a dropkick in the post match beat down. That felt out of place. Jarrett and Machine keep the ring cleared for a very long time. Christopher tries to help but gets hit from behind by Gilbert. Jarrett ends up tossing Christopher into the ring post which was a nice bump.

All the way to May before getting one of these kinds of matches. I do like Sano though. It’s very quiet but I do hear the crowd a bit at times. Sano looks to have got kicked really low but no point deduction seen but I guess that’s not part of the scoring. Duck and kip up was really cool. Sano busts out a Boston Crab in this setting and hits a German suplex too. This ended up being quite good and I’m not a fan of shoot wrestling. Had enough to keep me watching through out.

These teases that were worked early in the match are great. Just a simple elbow and collar tie is able to get a crowd reaction when Anita is close to the cage. Them avoiding the cage the best they can just makes it mean a lot more when they finally start using it. Just a very smart way to work this type of match and not getting rammed a minute into the match. It wasn't incredibly gory but it didn't need to be. Well done match.

Owen's performance was too short after his turn earlier in the night. Felt like they could have got a bit more out of him but I understand they probably didn't want him anywhere in the ring later when Bret entered so as to keep them a part.

Action Zone started later in the year in October. Nice to see we have a tag match from one of the earliest shows on this set to look forward to.- 10 replies

[1994-05-03-ECW-TV] Interview: Paul E. Dangerously & Bobby Eaton
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in May 1994
Clippings were a nice touch. Paul E. is placing the blame of the Dangerous Alliance breaking up on Arn and he's out for revenge. -
[1994-05-03-ECW-TV] Interview: Terry Funk & Arn Anderson
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in May 1994
Funk wants to get his hands on Heyman's body. Yuck. Terry becomes an organ donor and is giving all his limbs away. -
[1994-05-03-ECW-TV] Interview: Peaches / Interview: The Sandman
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in May 1994
Sandman has a pretty nice house from the exterior. Probably beer cans all over the inside though. He takes some shots at Peaches' buns. Styles seems really thrilled to interview Sandman. -
At the time, I thought Headshrinkers winning was cool and it gets a good crowd reaction to the title change. But they never really went anywhere with them as champions with losing the titles on a house show. Beginning of this year had some good WWF tag teams and things just pretty much fall apart rest of the year. Too bad.

[1994-05-01-NJPW-Wrestling Dontaku] Sting vs Rick Rude
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in May 1994
I was looking closely to try see the injury here but that youtube footage made me cringe. Awful bump to have to take. Pretty sad actually. I was trying to figure out too who the valet with Rude was. Japanese audiences didn't like sport entertainment booking here. -
[1994-04-30-WCW-Saturday Night] Ray Traylor and the Guardian Angels
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in April 1994
Ray seems too easily persuaded here to join the Angels. He's lost his night stick and cuffs so I think he is just looking for the next thing where he can beat up common folk under the guise of having some type of authority.- 6 replies

[1994-04-30-WCW-Saturday Night] Interview: Steven Regal
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in April 1994
Gene takes over the interview and said he's made arrangements. Larry comes out but it's not to apologize but only at request of Okerlund. More of Gene stirring up crap. Regal gets his shirt torn up.- 6 replies

I guess I missed that the Stampede finish was so controversial. It does get us a pretty good segment between Flair an Steamboat with talk about another match. So that's good to me. Flair handing over the title was a bit surprising. He seems to have abandoned his heelish ways for now.

[1994-04-30-SMW-TV] Personality Profile: The Thrillseekers
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in April 1994
Les Thatcher takes over for Dutch. Lance seems pretty nervous doing his promo and messes up. He's on a rocky mountain high. Jericho is a lot more composed when it is his turn to talk. -
[1994-04-30-WCW-Worldwide] Ric Flair vs Steven Regal
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in April 1994
This is interesting. Craig Pittman! Ideally the whole match with the five rounds should have been done all at once and not showing a round each week. It is cool to see Flair switch things up at this point of his career. Refreshing change of pace for him working this style with Regal. Maybe Flair gets knocked on his score in the second round for his late chop against the ropes? Still felt like Flair controlled the round. Jesse takes over on commentary and he immediately takes shots at the Marines. Doesn't seem right that you can change the judges during the rounds as Taylor is now judging. I love Bobby but Ventura is better suited to provide commentary for this type of match. Fifth round arena set up does not feel like a wrestling location. Prince William finally gets involved in match. Judges are now too pleased about this. Overtime period is very heated. Flair with a pretty animated victory celebration. Arn even comes out to join in. Flair shows off the Cup after. Really good match. This would have been better as a whole match on a single show when you can add in the exhaustion of the longer match. -
[1994-04-30-WCW-Worldwide] Vader vs Cactus Jack (Texas Death)
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in April 1994
Dusty doesn't let Cactus get much of a word in when they are choosing the match type. They pick Texas Tornado Match which I guess is because they rather use the word Tornado over Texas. Tony alludes to it briefly. I thought Tornado Match was for tag matches and this is singles. Don't like really quick pinfalls that wouldn't happen in normal matches. But maybe guys use it to give them a 10 count to get away from their opponent. No mention about previously history between the two. Powerbomb on the floor from Vader. Yikes. Again, glad he stayed down. -
[1994-04-30-USWA-TV] Interview: Dream Machine / Interview: Jerry Lawler
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in April 1994
Lawler talking about history going back 10, 14 years. He puts the verbal beating on Jimmy Hart. If I knew more about previous Memphis history between the two, I probably would have really liked this. Though they still do a good job of telling us about it. -
This was a six minute match and they still went to commercial break. Razor is wearing his Pepto Bismol sponsored ring gear. Michaels takes the biggest bump in the match. Make that bumps. Was a big Diesel fan right around this time so remember being very excited about this title change. Big celebration between Diesel and Shawn after.

[1994-04-29-Michinoku Pro] Great Sasuke vs Jinsei Shinzaki
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in April 1994
The dives to start off with them still wearing their entrance gear was cool. This has to be the best Shinzaki match I've seen. I knew nothing about this match going in so it was a surprisingly great match with Shinzaki being involved. Lots of big dives between the two. Shinzaki stepped it up here. This is a really good end sequence to the match. Shinzaki busts out the flying headbutts to win. I still like Lyger/Sasuke and Benoit/Sasuke from the J Cup over this but was very good and would have been interesting if this match had been apart of the J Cup.- 8 replies

[1994-04-26-ECW-TV] Interview: Terry Funk & Arn Anderson
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in April 1994
Funk puts over the local ECW fans and questions what is going on with the outsiders from Turner. I still find it hard to believe that WCW guys wrestled in ECW back in the day. I like the pencil/eraser reference from Arn. -
Quite the get up by Sandman for his match. Special interest groups getting involved with ECW but the future mixed tag match will still happen.
