Dutch has been outshining the other announcers in USWA. He cuts the interview short as he needs to do some drinking and gambling. Amen.

[1997-06-21-USWA-TV] Billy Travis vs Memphis Police in a shootfight
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in June 1997
This is amazing for him to get arrested on live TV. I wish Lance Russell was in the studio though. USWA tries to work an angle out of this on the fly. The stuff about his daughter is incredible sad. -
I liked them moving real fast countering each other on the mat. Then you had Tamura continuing to fight off submission by getting into the standing position. Felt like a big upset and Zouev uses a very strange submission I've never seen. Looks like he is doing a standard hooking of the leg for a pin fall.

[1997-06-20-ECW-Waltham, MA] PG-13 vs Mikey Whipwreck & Spike Dudley
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in June 1997
PG-13 work the crowd beforehand very well and draw a lot of heat. Wolfie has a nice looking gut wrench suplex with elbow drop combo. ECW had FBI and PG-13 right now but not good enough face teams to work with. This is fun though as PG-13 bring a lot of entertaining southern spots. I barely noticed Whipwreck in match. There was an SMW chant that lasted about 5 seconds. -
[1997-06-20-ECW-Waltham, MA] Dudley Boys vs The Eliminators
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in June 1997
Kronus is going all alone with no Saturn around and Dudley’s win back the Tag titles. -
Wagner got so upset when he decided to do his promo, his team ended up losing the first fall. The referees were giving poor Salvaje a hard time as he’s just a ticket buying fan to the match. When he finally does get involved he ends up taking an accidental tope from Santo. Santo cuts a post match promo next to a prone Salvaje who then cuts his own promo still lying down! That was fun.

I'll accept this as official reason for this being included.

[1997-06-16-WCW0-Nitro] Hulk Hogan & Dennis Rodman vs Lex Luger & The Giant
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in June 1997
Luger and Giant took a while coming out after being called out earlier in the show. Belt shots are lethal to the Giant. He just goes out cold every time he got one in WCW. Rodman drops a couple elbows after which the crowd loves. -
Bad timing with the fireworks to "start the second hour" going off during match and cameras panning away from the ring. Rey would have got a massive pop if he beat Syxx. Mysterio takes out both Hall and Hall before Syxx hits with a kick. Losing by submission was a bit deflating. It did seem like both Hall and Nash were eager to get involved in this feud and both bumped good for Rey.

[1997-06-16-WCW0-Nitro] Interview: Hulk Hogan & Dennis Rodman
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in June 1997
That was a very impressive long continuous shot of them arriving in the limo to walking to the ring. Bischoff refers to both Hogan and Rodman as champions. Hogan wants to see Rodman bodyslam The Giant. Rodman wants a pice of Lex Luthor too tonight. -
Hard to say how much I watch since I don't keep track. I can also go a few weeks without barely watching anything. But when I'm in the right mood I'll have huge marathons with little sleep. Thing is I don't watch current wrestling which is why there are definitely folks here who view a lot more than me. I've watched a total of 10 hours of wrestling from 2013 (Rumble, Chamber and WrestleMania which I was live in person). That last non WWE show I watched was the Japan joint card from 2011. So about all of my wrestling viewing is yearbooks and 80's sets that I am catching up on. Only recently did I start viewing online stuff for Ditch's Japan ballot. I do collect the major four WWE PPVs and the Best of Raw/Smackdown blu ray released end of year and that's most of my current WWE watching. Though I will pick up a show if it had a strong reception. Then I barely watch TV outside of soccer and movies so majority of the time my TV is on, it will be wrestling. I figure per week it is around 12-15 hours.

Kama has just joined the NOD and they are teasing another member also. JR throws out guys like Mr. Hughes, Butch Reed and Abdullah the Butcher! Kama pins Undertaker! What! This was pretty close to clean too. Ahmed turns on Undertaker and joins up with Faarooq who he has been feuding with for almost a year. I still can't get over WWF Champion Undertaker losing like that.

They finally have their match. Pillman has a busted open nose. That Stunner of the ref didn’t make much sense but it was funny to see them walk across to the other corner so Stunner could take place near Owen. Austin should have went over but instead it’s just a DQ win. Mankind, Shamrock and Goldust make the save for Austin. LOD then come down to separate Austin and Shamrock. Somewhere in here, Mankind disappears because he’s the sixth guy and we need only five to hype match.

[1997-06-16-WWF-Raw] Steve Austin, Mankind and Ken Shamrock
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in June 1997
Mankind volunteers to be Austin’s tag partner in the tournament. Austin wants nothing to do with Mankind and makes fun of him for not having an ear. Mankind wants Austin to think it over. They advertise Austin’s new video ‘Cause Stone Cold Said So. Feels like the home video market for WWF would start to get big from here. -
[1997-06-16-WWF-Raw] Vince McMahon and Jim Ross announcement
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in June 1997
I am! These knee injuries are becoming hard to keep track of. Was Shawn legit hurt or just given some time off? Tag title tournament has been set up to determine new champions. -
Who is the Charles Grodin of wrestling? And what about Chevy Chase?

Putting your foot in someone's ass is okay but not pressing your lips to it.

[1997-06-15-WCW-Great American Bash] Randy Savage vs DDP
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in June 1997
I thought it was the Outsiders Edge. I felt it was good also but I was totally feeling some of the staged elements of the match. Mark Curtis climbing up on the ropes while they are on the turnbuckle and he then gets beat up. They have this cheesy picnic area that’s there for them to use as weapons. There is a very aggressive photographer getting in the way trying to take pictures who is obviously going to get beat up by Savage. Still thought match was able to overcome it though and be entertaining enough. -
[1997-06-15-AAA] Heavy Metal vs Sangre Chicana (Street Fight)
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in June 1997
They go right into the crowd and to the upper bowl. I thought they were going to try brawl completely in the first row all the way around the building. Metal was getting blinded by the spot light which put an end to the in the crowd brawling. -
[1997-06-14-USWA-TV] Jerry Lawler, Jackie Fargo & Brian Christopher
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in June 1997
Good to hear Fargo. He misses being around the wrestlers and the fans and would like to make a return to Memphis. Jerry runs down Dreamer for beating up people in the studio why he went all the way to ECW Arena to confront them. Of course we get no video of his actions there and Lawler barely glosses over it. Lance puts Jerry on the spot regarding Heyman’s comments about Christopher being Lawler’s son. Jerry has a lot of fun with this stalling a few times and teasing an answer next week. -
Just a lousy feud. Diesel tries to bring some history to their issues but it’s hard to care and they now going to have a loser leaves town match.
-
The crowd looks so small to what they were doing on the early yearbooks. Nick Dinsmore looking so young wins tag titles but it gets overturned. Dreamer hit Lawler in the nuts and Jerry returned the favor many times after.

Santo ambushes Casas right away and with the rudo beat down going on it looks like it will be a quick first fall. But we end up having angle on the outside complete with Felino cutting a television interview while match goes on. Ultimo is too timid in bringing the aggression to the needed level for these matches.
