[1991-08-04-WCW-Main Event] Richard Morton vs Bobby Eaton
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in August 1991
Role reversal as Eaton the face and Morton the heel now. Ross manages to plug the Bruise Cruise, WCW Magazine and Hotline minutes into the match. Also references the new Light Heavyweight division in the works. Eaton tags Morton with a great right hand outside the ring. Eaton was selling the sting in his hand for a few after. Nice touch. Bobby also eats some ring post later. Liked what they were doing until we got the DQ finish. Gibson comes to Eaton’s aid which is something after previous history.- 12 replies

A fan cam match that is clipped through out first fall. Can be hard to follow at times when they go in the crowd as you can’t see the action clearly. Wonder how long it took them to set up cage between falls. Eddie gets on the mic to waste a bit time but also run down Cactus and say he won’t be able to come out for third fall. With WWE, they at least could lower the cage already but together from ceiling. Was chuckling that in cage portion of the match they still were brawling in the crowd. It was almost pointless to have the cage with them going outside it and then Doug Gilbert getting inside later. The DQ finish was lame.

[1991-08-03-GWF] Jim Cornette, Stan Lane & Steve Cox
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in August 1991
A Cornette appearance on 91 yearbook. Lane going it alone and planning on winning tag titles by himself. He has to team up with Steve Cox though. Good intro for team by Cornette. I've missed Jimmy the during this yearbook. -
Badd seems to be a good guy and now into chicks as he gives Lady Blossom some new earrings. Austin tosses them aside. New tournament to determine new US Champion now that Luger is World Champion. But there is also a tournament to crown Tag Team champions. I know Scott got injured but a lot to run two tournaments at once to crown different champions.

I was expecting when the lady’s car stalled that Leatherface would have issues with his chainsaw too. Danny Davis tells the fans to not drink. No thanks. Dundee thankfully interrupts him. Davis tries to tell him that they are friends. Dundee plays around with Davis who is not in a humorous mood. Both guys decide to settle things now and get into the ring and a match gets underway. Get a pretty nice studio match between the two.

Warrior lying in a casket getting advice from Roberts. Jake wants Warrior to learn Undertaker's dark side. Roberts convinces Warrior to lie down and then closes the casket top and locks it. Warrior is his usual nutty self and despite some of the silly camera angles I thought Roberts was fantastic during this segment. How's the drug testing going? Hogan and Warrior cut some war references in their promos. Sid adds a crazy promo.

Yellow Dog looking more like Pillman with Windham’s chest being bloody from the chops. Anderson goes through the ringer taking shots from the face team. Fans want Pillman to be reinstated. Heyman points out he is wrestling right now. Triple figure fours. Cool spot. DDP is about the run Eaton into the railing and the camera cuts away. Ross talking about whether Windham will be a good or bad guy. Match is out of date with it being taped before Bash at the Beach.

[1991-07-30-UWFi-Moving On 4] Kazuo Yamazaki vs Billy Scott
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in July 1991
Not the best of Yamazaki’s performances. He throws a german suplex and his multiple kicks combo at one point but not much more from him. Scott seemed to have more urgency in match. -
[1991-07-29-USWA] Jeff Jarrett & Robert Fuller vs Bar Room Brawlers
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in July 1991
There is a huge piece of furniture in the ring. Weapons a plenty in this one. The referee administering his own chair shot was funny. Pro shot would have help this one with guys all over the place at times. -
Vader tosses some chairs into the ring and Mutoh does the Hogan/Lawler move of just using the chair to sit down in the middle of the ring. Vader with Mutoh’s finger taunt! I always enjoy somebody blocking Mutoh’s handspring elbow. Vader and Bigelow do make a good team. Vader’s powerbomb looks very unforgiven to the recipient.

Paul E has evidence of Brian Pillman as Yellow Dog. Clip from match against Diamond Studd. Did the switch not go on for Hall until he showed up in WWF? He unmasks Yellow Dog. Heyman is yelling to get a close up off Dog's face and you can't help but think that he too finds WCW's TV production to be awful.

Should have Solie carry around the WCW rulebook in his jacket pocket. I would like to see the top ten rankings for the tag division. When they did it back in 90 it was complete stacked.

[1991-07-27-WCW-Saturday Night] Interview: Lex Luger & Harley Race
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in July 1991
Not sure why Luger needs Race/Hughes in his corner when he won the title by himself. I can see if someone, say Sting comes after him and then he begins to doubt himself and aligns himself with Race to try keep the title.- 6 replies

[1991-07-27-WCW-Saturday Night] Interview: Arn Anderson & Larry Zbyszko
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in July 1991
Arn and Larry are now a team. Larry's promo was entertaining. Horsemen officially being over could be a good thing for Arn. I like the possibility of this team.- 7 replies

I don't see the point of sticking Pillman under a mask. He changes his offense a bit and not for the better. Putting Lady Blossom with Austin is a good pairing as her outside inference adds for some good distracting. Austin's offense isn't there but you remember he still hasn't been wrestling long. Scott Hall makes an appearance at the end.

Tony Anthony proposes to Dirty White Girl and she says yes. This is no Savage/Elizabeth big moment and really came off cheap. Not sure why Embry has double straps on his tights as he always pulls them down. Arena clip shows Embry and Pritchard beating down DWB. I couldn’t tell what Tojo was doing to Paul Neighbors. Ah, it was the claw. It still seemed below the belt. Don’t be talking bad about the Dirty White Girl. Studio brawl with everyone involved. I could not keep my eyes off Tojo and Neighbors and it was terrible brawling but fascinating to watch. Marlin and Neighbors were sporting shaved heads.

[1991-07-27-USWA-Memphis TV] Music Video: Jeff Jarrett & Robert Fuller
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in July 1991
Jarrett and Fuller do some sight seeing in Memphis. The flying in and out made them seem like a bunch of tourists from out of town though. -
Summerslam on a monday night. I feel like that is the worst night for a PPV but then again they do have live Raw each week now. Hogan and Warrior are pleased with Sid as they special guest referee. They aren’t two worried about the three and two odds. Gene runs down rest of the card. Don Imus called Gene to let him know he is happy that the rules are being thrown out in LOD/Nasty Boys match. The whole card is set four weeks before show.

[1991-07-27-WWF-Superstars] Funeral Parlor: Jake Roberts
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in July 1991
Jake doesn’t fear death. Lucifer (not the snake) rests upon his shoulder. Bearer states that everyone must face the Undertaker at some point. Roberts talks about sharing the secrets of death with Ultimate Warrior. Bearer is not pleased. Roberts wants Ultimate Warrior to trust him. Yes! And so we begin. Looking forward to the Roberts heel turn. -
[1991-07-26-CMLL] Los Brazos vs Eddy & Mando & Chavo Guerrero
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in July 1991
I prefer the Brazos doing their comedy thing. Very little happened in the first two falls. Start of the third fall the teams faced off and appeared we finally had some tension. But nothing came about it. Porky did manage to do a dive through the ropes to the outside and land on his feet. -
They actually break a table with the knee drop spot. Jumbo as the illegal man casually walks in the ring and punches Kawada in the face. Jumbo just as casually walks back towards the corner but Kawada hits him with a clothesline from behind. This leads to Jumbo completely ignoring a his teammate almost being pinned so he can deck Kawada on the apron. Enjoyed their exchanges. Kawada seems to really get under the skin of Jumbo and Taue. Jumbo turns it into another gear at this point and ends up getting a pin over Misawa which is surprising with Kikuchi out there.

[1991-07-26-PWFG-One For All and All For One] Naoki Sano vs Minoru Suzuki
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in July 1991
Suzuki looks more like a pro wrestler from here than he would look from what I saw from mid 00 period. Sano is his usual strong performer for this setting in this match but I was enjoying Suzuki more. He’s relentless is trying to get the armbar but will bust out a couple pro wrestling moves like a piledriver and dropkick. Also some good suplexes from both guys. Agreed that for a 30 minute match of this type it did fly by. Excellent crowd that was into the action too.- 12 replies
