Didn’t recognize RVD and Nishimura at first. Fun to see all these guys back in 91. RVD with the split legged moonsault. Nice little match. Embry giving some advice to RVD to get a mean streak. RVD talks crap and then turns his back. Dumb move.

[1991-06-22-USWA-Memphis TV] Eric Embry and Eddie Marlin
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in June 1991
Embry has a short temper as he attacks Marlin pretty quickly and then gets puts his hands on Michael St. John. Marlin popped up a big too quick from this but he has something to say. He wants to fire Embry but Lawler wants a match first. Great build to match. -
[1991-06-22-USWA-Memphis TV] Jerry Lawler vs Eric Embry
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in June 1991
Oh no! Embry is on crutches. He’s a severe sprained ankle. Lawler is not buying it and thinks Eric is a coward. Embry volunteers Pritchard to face Lawler. Embry’s ankle heels mid segment and he attacks Lawler with the crutch. A tease for future match. Glad they held off as TV match at this point would be too soon. -
[1991-06-22-USWA-Memphis TV] Interview: Jerry Lawler
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in June 1991
Loved Embry on the house mic during the Lawler/Leatherface match. Leatherface looked like a convincing monster. Lawler survives but Embry attacks him right away and beats on him for most of the three extra minutes. Even though Lawler gets the advantage towards the end he is not satisfied and wants more. Eddie Marlin makes Lawler versus Embry on TV match. -
[1991-06-22-WWF-Superstars] Funeral Parlor: Big Bossman
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in June 1991
Agreed about how good Bearer is. When he was doing this stuff in 94 he just wasn't as good as a face. Bossman does play up the police terms heavy. -
[1991-06-22-WWF-Superstars] Update: The Natural Disasters
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in June 1991
Eric Embry doesn't see the big deal about this. Tugboat turns on the Bushwhackers and joins up with Earthquake. Can't blame the guy after being pushed aside by pal Hogan back in 1990 when he did so much to get Hogan to come back then. He is now Typhoon. -
[1991-06-16-WWF-Wrestling Challenge] Barber Shop: Andre the Giant
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in June 1991
Beefcake seems to be doing Andre’s promo for him at the beginning. Andre finally gets to speak and talks about coming back and that his career is not over. Andre wasn’t exactly convincing me of a return. Sad to see Andre like this. -
I had just watched Clash match from a day before that didn’t make yearbook. Of course that one was rushed like rest of that show. Big entourage for The Freebirds. DDP disappears once the match starts. Showing the proper count to Patrick was hilarious with him going along with it. Badstreet sells avoiding a Hayes misfire punch by flying outside through the ropes. I’m not much for stalling but I do give credit to the Freebirds for working it throughout the match and not just at the beginning.

[1991-06-15-WCW-Saturday Night] Interview: Ric Flair / Interview: Lex Luger
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in June 1991
I was thinking Lex needed a shave but it is Muta’s green mist on his face. Flair will be walking the aisle at The Bash. He will be here for a long, long time. Luger versus Flair at the Bash! Can’t wait for that one.- 7 replies

[1991-06-15-WCW-Saturday Night] Interview: The Hardliners
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in June 1991
Murdoch gets to the point as they are here for blood, money and to win the titles. Not sure how they match up with a team like the Steiners.- 8 replies

[1991-06-15-WCW-Saturday Night] Desperados vignette
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in June 1991
Thankfully I’m not doing shots at the moment. Desperados looking around for Hansen. Not what I was expecting but fun stuff. I don’t see what it has to do with wrestling though.- 9 replies

ajtroma, In case nobody has responded to you yet but goodhelmet would be able to answer any questions about yearbooks. Paul Heyman has been sent to the principal’s office for his actions from the Clash. He should be getting a reward for it.

[1991-06-15-USWA-Memphis TV] Dirty White Boy vs Tom Prichard
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in June 1991
Confused on how was suppose to be face here as crowd didn’t seem to behind either one. The valets end up getting involved at the end. -
[1991-06-15-WWF-Superstars] Funeral Parlor: Bobby Heenan & Mr. Perfect
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in June 1991
Heenan has stepped aside as manager of Mr. Perfect to become a broadcast journalist. Coach is introduced as new manager. Good job of making the transition from one manager to the other. -
[1991-06-15-WWF-Superstars] update: Andre the Giant/Earthquake recap
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in June 1991
They finally let Andre talk. He’s not done but will need to have surgery first. -
Flair got a haircut. I thought they were going fine in the first fall and I liked it. I was expecting something in the 25 minute range with the two out of three falls stipulation. Second and third falls ends up being rushed which takes match down. Too bad. Camera’s missed Eaton winning the TV title and his big match with Flair ends up being cut down for time restraints.

I expected a way bigger reaction from the crowd when Morton attacked Gibson. Long time like the Express having a turn down. This should have been a greater deal. Another rushed segment/match on the Clash.

Looks like the kid was going to administer medical aid after Sting got beat up. A regular Doogie Howser. This whole segment should have been axed with everything else being rushed as it is. I can only imagine the Bruise Cruise vessel losing power and them being stranded for five days.

Ross’ comment about Hase being the leader of the team caught me off guard. Chono steps in. Scott had a stretch in match where he came in ring and walked past his brother being put in the STF by Chono. He went back to apron and then decided to try break up submission. Him and Hase go to the outside and he spends time hitting a suplex on Hase. Scott finishes this sequence off by climbing to top rope to break up the STF but completely missing the landing. Match was fun while it lasted. Hardliners attack Steiners after but they cut out early to go to commercial break.

Loser of the pinfall is out of WCW. Gigante never even tags in which is smart of him to not risk his WCW career. Really rushed match with Pillman losing. I guess they felt since they wouldn’t honor the stips, they weren’t going to give them much time. Pillman being out of WCW is given little thought.

[1991-06-14-WCW-Clash of the Champions XV] Johnny B. Badd and P.N. News
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in June 1991
WCW is using this long distance overhead camera view of the stage which comes off pointless since it’s not really a fancy stage set up. News gives us a Will Smith type rap. Strange that you would bring in Salt n Pepa and just have them in the background.- 10 replies

Probably the best thing in WCW in 91 outside of Flair/Pillman. It was a great moment to see Hervey get hit in the head with the cell phone. He totally deserved it.
