  1. I like Muta in the right setting and Armstrong is not someone you'd ever say is boring, but man was this ever slow and boring. I understand they were having 2/3 falls main events every week, but you can do that without dragging them out like this. Served no purpose and no one came out of the match looking better. The highlight here are promos from Windham & Arn setting up next week's main event. **1/4
  2. Arn talks about being part of 2 great groups, but now its time to do something for himself. One of the few guys who could put together a great promo out of any material at all (not that the material here sucked). Too bad this was really just a couple week thing on tv or for house shows, but I guess that's the story of his career as a singles.
  3. Horner wins on a neat roll up and Landel attacks afterward. Nothing special at all. **1/4
  4. Landel wins after Tim Horner takes a powder. Good interview by Landel afterwards setting up their $5K rematch.
  5. Solid promo from Gilbert talking stips for a title match.
  6. The low point of 1992 WWF continues.
  7. Pretty memorable angle from the era with Nailz jumping Bossman during a squash and absolutely destroying him with the nightstick as Bossman is cuffed to the ropes and then his hands behind his back. Pushed as a really big deal, much moreso than other mid-card angles.
  8. Was this really the first time Taue used the Nodowa? I could swear I've seen it throughout the yearbook but perhaps I missed something that distinguished his finisher there from here. Kikuchi stepped and worked pretty big here against the larger heel squad. Jumbo griding his fist into Misawa's ribs during an abdominal stretch was a great spot as well, so simple and effective yet something other workers wouldn't think of. ***3/4
  9. Nice, always loved how they produced that. Looked so much better than similar angles, even if I fully recognize I may just appreciate it given when I saw it.
  10. I was skeptical but listened to the first 2 episodes at the gym and on the commute this morning, and I'll be damned but his charisma carries over to a podcast as they just breeze by. Really great listens and never get boring, even when he's shilling his various projects as its just hilarious.

This wins the award for point of view I disagree with most on this board in the month of April Glad I could get in under the wire
  12. With a good finish it would've been my favorite on the night. As it stands probably 2nd favorite for me, though I could always dock it for that post-match nonsense. But I thought it was great until then.
  13. It was really good relative to what I would expect or is typical for such a weekly match. Not "really good" to the point that I'll I'll remember it months or years from now or be touting it when looking back at 2013 in the ring. It was much more engaging than most Orton matches of late and had me questioning what was predictable before the bush finish. I'll take it.
  14. It was a really good match. For a fleeting moment they even had me thinking Cody might go over.

Big Show is probably the least watchable top tier guy on the roster for me these days. His character, work and mic are all things I fast forward when watching on dvr.
  16. I may have laughed the first time I watched them as I was blown away things like that were happening in Japan in the 80s. Sheer, joyful laughter.
  17. It was clear at the time, not only in hindsight, that skipping developmental was a big mistake for him. Del Rio went through it and he was more well versed in different styles and spoke the language. They threw him out there with a neat gimmick and entrance but without the ability to work in a style that meshed with or to communicate with all but a couple guys on the roster. Combine that with either an unwillingness to adapt or a failure to provide any direction and you've got a situation that will undoubtedly fail to meet expectations.
  18. I'm not fortunate enough to have ever been to any shows in Japan, but from watching plenty of tapes there seems to be a different type of reaction, whereby they're much more restrained and respectful in their appreciation rather than becoming part of the match itself -- at least generally, obviously you get some matches at Korakuen or other buildings with different environments. But isn't it possible that cultural difference in Japan and how wrestling is viewed there as opposed to here also contributes to how a crowd views a given show/lineup?
  19. Talk about undermining yourself. Your entire point seemed to consist of labeling Dave with certain learning or developmental disabilities and then imparting that onto his work product. Bravo.
  20. Outside of placating egos and the related politics, I don't know if there's any valid reason for not giving the crowd a time filler in between main events. If they're wound up and going crazy for something they'll need an opportunity to come down and catch their breath before popping for something big again. Its basic cardio applied to a live audience -- crowds need that break between sprints to get their wind/enthusiasm the same way the wrestlers do.
  21. His hand motions are weird, but I kind of love it because it fits in with their entire act being different from everyone else on the roster. The entrance, promo style and production and offense don't fit the same cookie cutter mold that most new characters do. Its one reason they're standing out so far, along with being put over so strong. That also happened here, as even though Ambrose took a clean loss they transitioned to the post-match so quickly and strongly that the overriding arc was the shield taking out one of the biggest names on the roster.
  22. Yes! Just a remarkable sequence to watch, and the fact they kept up the freshness and intensity for quite a few months is a real treasure.
  23. I watched Vader vs. Sting from the Bash on the '92 Yearbook yesterday and it really is remarkable how much better their matches are than with anyone else. Somehow they just never clicked with anyone else the way they did with each other. Vader sells Sting's offense as a giant killer -- but only when he has to. Sells his chops, lariats and punches as killer while sending him to the floor, but he's not out there playing the bitch (don't shoot me, it was too easy). He regroups on the floor or counters with a power move and is back to dominating before being put over strong.
  24. Agreed, they present a great show. IVP's great too, my go to for anything I don't get online and he's got a lot available for download now as well.
