On a more serious note, is there any evidence that the Wyatt/Fiend deal isn't completely flat and perhaps an audience killer? The entrance at Summerslam for his return was hot. Since then, what has he meant for ratings, attendance, merchandise or any metric that matters?

The more I think about it the more I'm frustrated by the end of the women's match. Shirai and Candice faked an injury because reasons? And they're all heels tonight?

I learned long ago not to hold my breath with this company, but Keith Lee being prominently featured on the go home NXT and Smackdowns is interesting.

This is wild. You need to go watch SNL Kevin Nealon. It'll make you appreciate him on Weeds even more. Then go rewatch WCW again for the rest of us.

We'll see if I call an audible at game time, but as of now leaning towards watching NXT live for the first week since Dynamite launched. TUE/Revival, Cole/DIjak and angles ahead of a two big shows this weekend likely means Fenix/Nick Jackson and the latest from AEW will have to settle for DVR viewing.

This might be the most entertaining Randy Orton I've seen in years and alone justifies his contract.

If I can't/won't sit through BJW death matches should I make the time for Omega/Moxley or skip it entirely?

This has nothing to do with WWE and everything to do with said iron currently heating up rather than being hot. I think they can deliver a much better build to Cody winning the title that hopefully builds TV and PPVs along the way. Promising to never challenge for the title again after the match was essentially announced cold following the last PPV? That strikes me as skipping a few steps along the way. If Cody wins the title tonight it should still be a great moment and might very well set up an awesome title reign. He's far and away the biggest star in the promotion so having the title on him is certainly not a bad thing. It just feels a bit rushed given the setup an options on the table for both (a) a longer Jericho run to establish the title and (b) Cody's path to winning it.

Why do you want it moved to Cody at this point?

What I find perplexing is why Seth Rollins would want to give such attention to Meltzer & the Observer.

Got it, so it is a holiday weekend. That makes sense. Yeah, just an absolute metric ton of shows from to watch from the weekend. Thus far I've seen Power Struggle. Its going to take a while to catch up. Fortunately NJPW is basically off until WK for my purposes save for any standout matches from tag league or Road to WK shows that get rave reviews.

in addition to NJPW's big show of the month in Osaka, this past weekend saw BJW, NOAH and DDT run Sumo Hall, while Dragon Gate ran their big monthly show. Is this completely random or is there something about the dates that saw every promotion circle this weekend on its calendar?

Good call. It is the Apple Podcast app, I just refer to them as the same even though that's clearly not the case. I found the additional episodes -- they were somehow grouped as part of an "unknown season" so now I've got the entire run on my phone. Halfway through the first episode and I'm definitely enjoying it. Arn's a great storyteller who, at this admittedly early point, doesn't seem interested in overselling himself. The biggest plus is that it isn't using old Observers as a crutch. As long as they avoid that this looks like a home run.

Are they actually booking Riddle vs. Goldberg? I'm watching this week's NXT and it would seem that either either that's the direction they're headed or Riddle can go out and do whatever he wants.

Everything about this sounds very positive or at least promising. Have any legitimate concerns or speculative downsides been raised? Just curious what I may be missing.

Well that crosses it off of my watch list. I'm still waiting to understand the Joey Janela phenomenon. Apparently he was very successful promoting shows on Mania weekend (and on other occasions?), but I've yet to see him in a match that didn't make me regret watching it.
