  1. Hogan, Flair, Jeff Hardy, RVD, Booker T, Scott Steiner, Sting, Hall, Nash, Kurt Angle, Jeff Jarrett, Mick Foley, and Team 3D are all guys that have passed through TNA. TNA has remained between 1.3-1.6. I don't see Cena making a difference.
  2. Re: Natalie I agree that some wrestlers (I have seen this happen a ton of times with Divas/Knockouts) get called good and its sticks despite their being no 'best of' that can be convincingly assembled. Another one who gets the 'good wrestler' label is Winter/Katie Lea Burchill and Tara/Victoria. Both are pretty bad and while a case can be made for Tara/Victoria having passable matches, none can be made for Winter/Katie. When I say Natalie is a good worker, what I mean by that is that she has shown she is not going to break someone's neck in the ring. I have seen matches were I am SHOOT fearful of another woman's life because she is CLEARLY in the ring with someone who has no business there. Natalie is probably the safest woman in either TNA or WWE to work with and she doesn't mind showing ass instead of adopting the female Davey Richards gimmick. Her being safe and technically sound (her judo techniques are WAY better than Eve's UGLY and not believable BJJ techniques) puts her in the good worker category in my book (but then again look at her competition). If GoodHelmet created Natalie comp TODAY, are there a series of matches, let alone a match that I am clamoring to see? No. I haven't found a good way to describe my thoughts on Natalie as I have never talked about a wrestler being serviceable in the ring, but not being able to put together ANYTHING of any type of worth for YEARS. The match with Ivory at some indy show was pretty good IIRC, but one match in almost 10 years?
  3. I can see a show like that getting really sad and pathetic as a lot of the guys are broken down and NEED the money. So coming back for the cameras and hamming it up for a while only to get cut could lead to some Benoit-like situations. I hope not, but I've seen too many bad reactions of people not being apart of pro wrestling one-way-or-another. I don't want to see it play out on my TV. How many pillow fights, lingerie contests, bikini pose downs, pudding matches, etc. does WWE have in their library? Surely enough to create a late night show featuring ONLY these things? All they would need is a host, some sleazy voice-over guy, and added commentary from comedians, 'experts', and the performers themselves (ala 1000 ways to die). So much content they could put in that 30 minute timeslot.
  4. I agree and I think she's pretty crap most of the time. I was struggling to choose between keeping her and Kaitlyn. Kaitlyn's fairly over but she's been MIA for a few months now. Natalya's one of the stars of their hit reality show and seems to be connecting with people. I could take or leave either one to be honest. I wouldn't keep both though, there's far too many divas. Natalie has shown that she is not able to get over on more than one occasion. She is a terrible promo and is very wooden in personality. She is a good wrestler, but that's it. I believe she is still around due to her last name as she ranks toward the bottom of popularity compared to the other Divas. If I was WWE I'd get her off TV and send her to developmental with Del Ray. I am sure she will be able to continue to help the girls of NXT with the wrestling. Because Del Ray and Neidhart have no personality I am afraid that will yeild a bunch of female Davey Richards who are constantly forced to use WWE comedy to get them over.
  5. Some original Programming ideas: Wrestler Rehab ( Like VH1's Celebrity Rehab, this features former WWE/ECW/WCW talent) Yoga with Trish Stratus Pilates and Yoga For Men with DDP WCW 2000 (MST3K style) "Comic View" type of show. Every night at 10pm. Get someone like Arnez J to host. WWE should also look into bringing back shows people feel should not have been cancelled and still has a shit ton of fans (i.e. Arrested Development). I would like to see WWE have their own "Adult Swim" block of programming ala Cartoon Network. They can start off with something like Duckman, Dr. Katz, The Cleveland Show, and Ren & Stimpy. Toss in some WWE 80's cartoon at the end just to keep everyone on their feet...and boom! and of course there are the WWE films that would be shown. I think WWE should keep the original programming to a minimum and the majority of the shows listed (aside from the rehab) can be done from WWE studios. Investing in re-runs that are NOT pro wrestling related would be smart. WWE should be to 'wrestling' what MTV is to music videos at this point. Keep the 'E' in mind and put less focus on the second 'W'. Everything NOT named WWE (Mid-South, Memphis, World Class, Memphis, etc.) should be kept in the early morning hours (1-5pm block) on the weekdays.
  6. TNA has a video library spanning 10 years, a primetime weekly deal with Spike TV, and17 (IIRC) international TV deals. These are good things but how much is it REALLY worth. I couldn't imagine someone paying more than 1 million dollars for the company while keeping a straight face. Even if you factor in the PPV deal you are looking at 4 PPVS who total MAYBE 500,000 dollars in revenue this year. I can't see any benefit unless someone was just going to use it as a shell company and use a little 'Hollywood Accounting' to keep the parent company profitable.
  7. Are there any differences wrestling guys in WWE that you wrestled in ROH and other indies? If so, what are they?
  8. Foley in TNA worked for me because it was just one big DO WHATEVER YOU WANT MICK and he did. Foley as the on-air commish produced awesome backstage segments with a pissed off Jarrett who had no time for Foley's antics. Foley vs. The Rock in the mainevent for Impact, Foley ending the Legends Title contract signing by tossing himself through the table as Nash looked on confused as hell, Foley/Shelley, and the list goes on. I was pretty sour on Foley and his schtick but when he came to TNA it was a new lease on life. Sad it ended the way it did.
  9. Hmm. I'd go with: Cookie Gate The Paparazzi Productions stuff Team 3D's funeral Bobby Roode looking for a manager Joe Parks trying to find his brother There have been a ton of random EY moments throughout the years [ buying condoms at 2am and getting caught by James Storm] Lethal/Flair promo from Impact The Foley sitdown interview with himself
  10. At the time I thought all of it was cool. The Mankind interview was great and something WWE did really well to EXPLAIN the two most bizarre characters in WWE at the time. It was ingenious as it was designed to turn them both face. The Dude Love debut is still one of my favorite things to watch on Youtube (granted, I do not watch it everyday but I have seen it at least twice in the last 8 months). It all worked and I thought it all progressed in an interesting way and logical way.

  12. What are the mechanics behind pro wrestling commentary? I saw BTM years ago and was surprised that people were feeding lines to the on-screen commentator at the time. Also, the guys rarely talk over each other. An insight to why for both?
  13. There isn't any Andre match outside the WMIII and SNME matches with Hogan that I enjoy. The guy had a good size and presence...but that's about it. Definitely someone I would NEVER buy a comp of. He's been called a legend so long by WWE that people just accept it and not really analyze WHY.
  14. One thing I LOVED about WCW 2000/2001 was that it was just whacky and random and the random whackiness worked. I remember watching the Storm/Awesome match back in 2000 and thinking it was perfectly executed. Storm just worked a normal match (without any heel tendencies) while Rougeau took care of all the heel work. It was funny and entertaining. I just finished watching NB Rising (got to admit I am a mark for this thread) and it was a good show. WCW 2000/2001 works best if the viewer goes into the viewing just wanting to see things escalate to its most ridiculous and non-sensial conclusion possible. NB Rising in 2000, I am not sure how it was received, but NB Rising being viewed in 2013...an entertaining show.
  15. I don't understand the reaction in some parts of the internet to the news of JR "retiring" (is that carny for being released) from WWE. The guy was employed for 20 years. What is he 60 something or close to it? I am sure JR has a nice TON of money sitting in the bank and most likely doesn't have to work for the rest of his life. Where is the tragedy? I should feel sorry for the millionaire who got to work in the business he loves for over 20 years while traveling the world ( I am sure after 1999 it was all first class air fare and good hotels)? Again, where is the tragedy? I still don't understand why people feel bad for a millionaire 'being picked on' for an angle that he is apart of? WWE makes EVERYONE part of the show. Sometimes you are going to win championships and other times you are going to get thrown off a bridge. It's all a work and a JOB, why so serious when it comes to JR? What is it about JR that people think he should be the only one making a ton of money on-air and NOT show ass. Vince, Shane, and Stephanie have all showed ass on TV...who is JR and when did he become above pro wrestling?
  16. Daniel Bryan beat John Cena in the middle of the ring to win the WWE title. Cena leaves, DB celebrates, Orton interrupts. Orton fools everyone into thinking he is just showing up to play mind games with DB and then HHH hits DB with a pedigree. Orton cashes in and is the new WWE champion. I was honestly thinking HHH was going to hit DB with the pedigree AS SOON as Cena left and then HHH would leave with no explanation until Monday Night.
  17. A general outline of events: - Shane McMahon 'buys' WCW. - Shane vs. Vince at WMX7 with the stipulation if Shane wins Smackdown will be under his ownership. Shane Wins. - 4/5/01- Smackdown becomes a WCW show. The name "Smackdown" remains. Vince/Shane (with lawyers and security in tow) sign a truce to let the other operate with any interference. - 3 months go by with no brand interaction. The brands are split and vaguely mentioned by each other. - In July during a WHC match (The Rock vs. Kurt Angle) toward the end Booker T comes through the crowd- beats up both men, takes out a few security guards and leaves Raw with WWE title. The 'war' has begun. - Vince Mcmahon (with about 5 WWE scrubs armed with weapons [bats, pipes, wood plank, etc.] and security in tow) arrives to Smackdown (but is not let in the building). Outside the building McMahon calls for Shane to 'be a man' and let him in to get his title back. Vince and his guys are let into the building (this is around the close of the show), the only stipulation: No weapons. Vince/Shane have a promo with the 5 WWE guys in the ring with Vince. Vince makes some threats, gets pissed, and KO's Shane. Out comes the WCW roster and beats the shit out of the 5 guys WWE guys while Vince heads for higher ground and watches his guys get destroyed before being ushered out of the building by his security team. - Raw. Vince declares war. Rock vs. Booker T for SummerSlam (champion vs. champion). WCW tries to invade Raw, but fails. - Smackdown. Shane accepts Vince's SS mainevent match. Shane also suspects there is a mole in WCW as someone tipped Vince off as to the planned happenings on Monday which is why they were never executed. At the end of the show during DDP/? vs. Kronick (champions) for the Tag Team Titles...Kurt Angle arrives through the crowd with a bat. Shane and a few WCW wrestlers come to the ring (4-6) only for Kronick to start beating on the WCW guys alongside Angle. Kronick (keeping with their mercenary gimmick) was the mole and has jumped side to WWE for the money. The show ends with Shane screaming at Angle and Kronick as the police escort all 3 wrestlers out of the building and try to keep some of the WCW guys from beating their asses. -Matches made for Summer Slam: Angle vs. DDP Booker T. vs. The Rock (champion vs. champion) Kronick(stripped of the belts) vs. Palumbo/O'Haire Shane vs. Vince II (Steel Cage) Undertaker vs. Rhino NHB Team WCW(Storm,Kidman,Kanyon,Chavo) vs. The reformed Radicalz. The Hardyz vs. Jindrak/Stasiak (ladder match WWF tag titles). -After SummerSlam begins the DDP/Taker stalker angle. Rhino (feed up with WWE politics, etc.) is the first man to jump ship from WWE to WCW and cuts a HUGE promo to open Smackdown. -September- WCW's first PPV. Prior to this all PPVs have been WWE PPVs and WCW was strictly featured on TV. The Impact Players reunite and become the first tag team to feature a WCW and WWE performer. Because of this they are both allowed to compete on both Raw and Smackdown. Austin quits wrestling. -October- WWE announces that they have successfully put a stop to WCW legally broadcasting PPVs again. September marks the first AND LAST WCW PPV under the WWE banner. Both WWE an WCW via for Austin. WCW/WWE brawl on Raw. Austin comes out and whips ass for WWE. During this month there are a number of segments featuring guys like Raven, Credible, Storm, etc. (mentioning they just got out of a meeting, or have a meeting to go to, or just got off the phone with an old friend...subtle stuff). -November-Survivor Series. War Games: Team WWE (The Dudley Boyz, Angle, Kane, Jericho) vs. Team WCW (Booker T, Rhino, Palumbo, O'Haire, and a mystery partner*) DDP vs. The Undertaker The Impact Players vs. The Hardy Boyz (tag team titles) Steve Austin vs. Shane McMahon The Rock vs. Benoit for the WHC Dec- Vince and Shane decide things have gone too far and its better if they just call an armistice, until they work out their differences. A few WCW and WWE guys are in the ring during this segment (on Raw). This is when The ECW guys come to the ring and Raw ends as it did when the Nexus took over Raw. We see Paul Heyman standing in the shadows. ECW is now a new threat. With both WCW and WWE believing the other is behind ECW...the war is back on. DEC PPV- Angle/Austin/Rock WHC RVD/Jeff Hardy (ladder match Hardcore championship) Sandman vs. Matt Hardy Extreme Rules: The Impact Players vs. The Dudleyz Boys (tag team championship match) (this is ECW vs. ECW) Benoit vs. Booker T Buried Alive: DDP vs. The Undertaker Cruiserweight Inter-promotional Invitational (the winner becomes the first undisputed WWE/WCW/ECW CW champion and is allowed to travel between Smackdown and Raw to defend the title). Jan 2002- The Royal Rumble for the first time becomes the site of WW3. Vince, Shane, and Heyman agree...winner take all. WWE wins. Vince decides the WWE should be one, but likes competition and declares that the future of Raw and Smackdown will be decided next Monday night in the first ever WWE draft. *This person will be WHOMEVER is available.
  18. I don't mind shows like this. ROH has been SERIZOUS WRASSLIN~! for ages. Why not be TNA for a day and let lose. The people up in arms over this (and there will be) and who will talk about ROH's GLORIOUS history have forgotten (or choose to ignore) the fact that the first ROH broadcast featured two men in the ring kissing to open the show.
  19. Why did Vince McMahon buy Stampeded Wrestling in 1984, only to sell it back to Bruce (?), the following year?
  20. Artist: JR Writer Song: Get Em Verse: Camron Im Hulk Hogan Randy Savage Bob Backlund Paul Akin Ha Ha. Who Dey Think They Car Jackin Dumpin And I Dump Slump Den.
  21. WWE and TNA still operate as if a 'war' is on-going despite it ending well over a decade ago. The Attitude Era produced a myraid of people within the business with a type of Pro Wrestling PTSD. For years Vince Russo continued to book TNA at a break-neck pace as if a large number of wrestling fans were flipping between Impact and whatever program Russo and company wanted to use as an excuse that week for the low numbers. The WWE's Mr. Mcmahon character became the Villian With A Thousand Faces within the WWE parable. Both WWE and TNA have also continued to throw out big money matches on their free shows, while ECW had no less then a million reunion shows. These are signs of a product stuck in the past and unwilling to change (on a large scale) for the future due to fear, paranoia, aversive anxiety-related experiences, and Hypervigilance brought about due to "The Monday Night War". I do not believe that anyone can keep a straight face and tell me that the Vince or his croonies have NOT come out, in some way, pyschologically scared from that time. Wrestling was at a fever high in the late 90's so giving away Hogan/Goldberg and Rock/Austin away for free on Monday Nights could be justified. The same cannot be said today as the war has ended and it is not peace time. The boom is over. The majority of fans have left and are never coming back. It took YEARS for TNA to finally realize this and SLOW DOWN THEIR SHOW and not give EVERYTHING away on free TV (though they still give away 95%). I think they only way wrestling as a whole will move away from that era and heal their PSTD is by not associating with anyone from that era ever again. Bookers, writers, producers, directors, everyone must go. Also there will need to be another major wrestling company that is all about creating their own identity because right now everyone is looking up (toward WWE) for inspiration and the last boom period occured when everyone was looking at each other and themselves for inspiration. Wrestling is going to continue to 'hurt' for a period of time because a lot of promoters are looking at the most sucessful wrestling promotion of all time for inspriation (and overall product guidance), and inturn are modeling themselves after the myraids in the WWE office that still suffer from PWPTSD caused from their involvement with The Attitude Era.
