Renee makes Nakamura's promos so much better
-
Yup. Just put Braun in the MITB match, destroy people and win it. Then do one of those in ring interviews they like doing were he says he's not waiting and is using his briefcase tonight making the main event a triple threat of Brock, Roman, Strowman. Braun wins it and they do an injury angle with Reigns. You have a Brock rematch, Lashley and Rollins for Braun to run through the summer before losing the strap. He doesn't need it for more than 3 months.
-
Beating Brock? He still hasn't done that. Isn't that crazy when you think about it? That Irom Man match were you can only score a pin after a Spear or F-5 will have the crowd going wild....for the exit.
-
People leaving in droves while he's main eventing. Honestly, what else is left?
-
I'm curious about this as well.
-
The crowd was PISSED at Roman waking up
-
This would've been a great WM main event.
-
In Chicago and with Punk having a fight 1 week before, I don't think the crowd is gonna be a fun hang.
-
First to hit his finisher 10 times win.
-
What was the point of having that match on this show?
-
Putting that song/video after the Nakamura/AJ finish was hilarious
-
It took two low blows for the crowd to finally wake up.
-
There's no way this show is ending in 50 minutes.
-
Yeah, that was really bad.
-
That was a very fun segment. Good to see the boys getting that bonus paycheck before the euro tour.
-
Joe vs Reigns is the nth time WWE does a "no one should lose right now, they shouldn't have booked it" match.
-
Bryan vs. Miz is official? When did that happen? Tonight? (Forgive me, I've basically zoned out the putrid commentary and endless video packages.) When they made Bryan vs Cass official. D-Bry is working Miz in the European tour but I wasn't talking about that.
-
Miz costing D-Bry the win and then Cass capitalizing and winning semi-clean is the finish I've assumed they are doing since they made the match official.

Being called the hottest superstar on the company right now and getting the type of W he got tonight, it's nice seeing them book an IC champ as strong as this. He's also getting a main event run very soon, they don't push a narrative this strongly unless they have bigger plans. It's also nice that Rollins is this over too.

Man I was loving the match and then Rollins did that stupid fucking superplex to falcon arrow spot and then went overboard with that kickout. Oh well, still very fun.

Oh no doubt, at the very least they'll get a big singles match this year in the case that Suzuki drops the belt before it happens. After Suzuki won it back, the only guy who cut a promo on Hideki was Nomura and they now have a big tag match in Korakuen in a couple of weeks - Sekimoto/Suzuki vs Nomura/Abe - I can't fucking wait for it

Very similar match from the one they had last year, I thought the 2017 draw was slightly better a a whole but this year's had better sequences/moments. Like, this time I think Daisuke got more winded and had to rest on a couple of holds and it took longer than last year to get interesting - though not much, 5 minutes in I was already engaged - and the way they transitioned to the desperate bomb throwing and striking didn't come off as good I thought, also I fucking hated the suplex no sell/fighting spirit by Sekimoto at the end. Now, this was still a fucking great fight for control throughout the 30 minutes it lasted and I love these type of "struggle for control" matches. I mean, it takes them 27 minutes to throw the first suplex and 28 min. to throw their first real strike and I didn't care, I was engaged with them just wrestling and finding ways to get on top and take advantage, that's very hard to do, specially when they just stick to wrestling on the mat for so long. I also thought the crowd was more into the ending than last year at Korakuen. Sekimoto no selling the suplex and landing a lariat (which again, hated it, but it worked for the fans live), him doing the German for a near fall, Suzuki being so desperate he did a LOW BLOW that got him booed and the final nearfall hit better than what they tried in 17'. I guess my biggest gripe was how the transitioned to the final sequence, it just felt out of nowhere and they just did stuff from a completely different match, some might say that it makes sense because they got desperate with the time coming up, but it didn't feel that way to me. Anyways, I don't think everyone will enjoy this as much as me and others but if you liked their draw last year, you gotta check this one out because it's a worthy sequel, hell you might even think it's better than I did. Special mention to a sequence that I just LOVED, were Hideki is working Sekimoto's neck and just doesn't let up. He gets bodyslammed twice and doesn't let go of Daisuke's neck, after a couple of minutes of working headlocks and cravats, Suzuki goes for a octopus stretch. He starts torturing Sekimoto's fingers, and at first it looks like he just transitioned to another hold and body part but no, Hideki does it because that makes Daisuke react in a way that leave his head wide open for more torturing. Suzuki then modifies the hold and cranks Sekimoto's neck to the point the crowd reacts like it's a legit submissions attempt. Daisuke then does his patented escape-by-powering up with his legs and it gets a pop. Suzuki looks like the smartest, vicious motherfucker in the world and his opponent like a resilient beast. Everyone wins in that exchange in the crowds eyes and everything makes sense. THAT'S elite level shit.

The thing with New Japan fandom is that there's so much hyperbole around it that is very hard to have serious discussions. People predicting doom and gloom about New Japan right now are as silly as the ones talking about a legit "boom" in Japan in the last 2 years. I've been bitching about Gedo's booking for more than 3 years not because it's bad for business - though there's been a couple that I've critiqued it because of that - but because it's been lazy and boring as fuck. To the point that I barely watch anymore, it's just easier to follow results and check stuff that sounds interesting. The Omega/Okada part is just being disingenuous, there's a lot of people that don't rate that rivalry as an all timer and has nothing to do with Meltzer. I'm not sure who has been hating on their next match before it even happens though, but that happens with almost every big match in any promotion too, no?
