[1990-02-10-NWA-Worldwide] Midnight Express vs Rock & Roll Express
Badlittlekitten replied to Loss's topic in February 1990
Non-stop action here. Midnights vs Rock n' Rolls is magic guaranteed, and this fun, frenetic sprint is no different. Eaton takes a CRAZY bump from the turnbuckle to the outside. Stan Lane's 'karate' and swivelling hips are a sight to behold. In typical WCW fashion the production crew miss the finish but the Midnight's stamp their ticket to the US tag tourney semi-finals. A blast. -

"Isn't that a swell smell! A smell that makes sense!!" Rick introduces his Arrogance and he's loving every second of it.- 13 replies

[1990-02-10-NJPW vs AJPW] Big Van Vader vs Stan Hansen
Badlittlekitten replied to Loss's topic in February 1990
Vader's eye injury completely overshadows everything else they try to accomplish here. I was dreading watching this and cringing inside! It's a good ugly monster brawl as they smash each other around the arena. They overdo the outside brawling and Hansen sells a little too much for my liking. Poor Vader's gross injury is the most notable thing about it.- 24 replies

Fun match that unfortunately breaks down and becomes disorientating by the end. Takano withstanding a barrage from Tenyru before decking him with a single strike and looking surprised at himself is the highlight of the match. It sounds crazy but Tenryu is my favourite discovery going through this footage. I never really 'got' him before but I'm growing to love the stiff, mean, moody bastard. Man, he's electrifying every time he tags in.

AEW's undercard on cue singing Jericho's theme every week to boost his delicate ego, remains a weekly lowlight. -

Very good main event. Preferred the first half of the match - Dunn's submissions and leg selling was great stuff. Didn't outstay it's welcome either which is a massive plus. Didn't care much for the post-match angle, just no interest in UE and Cole turning heel seems like an odd move. Decent show overall. Women's matches were disappointing but everything else delivered. Not following the TV always helps the big shows feel more special. -

I'm done with three-way matches so barely paid attention to the women's title. Every time I watch Io it seems like she is stuck in some kind of multi-woman or gimmick match. -

First time I've seen MSK. Gibson was right when he described them as two flippy dudes in daft green pyjamas. Match started slow but delivered in the end. Wes Lee looks like he could be something. Gutted GYV lost, they're awesome. To the moon!! -

Gargano vs Kushida was excellent. Loved the swift exchanges and reversals, the ground stuff was especially thrilling. Some cool spots that I'd never seen before that were innovative in the right way i.e. they worked in context of the match story and didn't detract by being too cute. Main event worthy. -

HATED that women's tag match. Complete headache. It's like they were trying to have a AEW style match and it didn't work. At all. -
[1990-02-09-UWF-with '90 2nd] Akira Maeda vs Yoshiaki Fujiwara
Badlittlekitten replied to Loss's topic in February 1990
The first match of its kind I've managed to sit through. I think watching without the sound helped as I find the grunting and silent crowd off-putting. I still don't really get the style but I liked the escalation of violence and Fujiwara's punches and headbutts were awesome . Excellent visual at the end as the bloody Fujiwara gets choked out. More stuff like this and I think I could get into it.- 14 replies

What a wild, crazy mess! It's almost cruel how they played the babyface Horsemen promo on screen as a lead in. Hardly anybody is selling or following tag rules and Sawyer dives from the top of the cage like it's nothing. It's sad to see Sting hobbling on one leg even now. Flair recklessly launching himself at the injured Sting was a sketchy moment but really sold the intensity of the feud. It's rare to see such violence from Flair. A hot, wild disaster.

There's a lot to be said about this business wise, but as an isolated segment it's one of the best all year. Ole and Flair are tremendous and the Horseman feel like a real gang of hardnoses. Flair's "Get out of the business!" as he slaps Sting and tosses the mic is brilliant stuff.

Still making my way through this. Great stuff Loss! Thanks. The Austin Idol diss track and Sherri Martel sighting are phenomenal.

Yeah. Respect to Mercedes for not wanting any part of that. I can see Uncle Paul giving her the NXT strap as a reward. -

I forgot Mia was still employed. How Raw can have her, Shayna, Asuka, Charlotte, Nikki Cross, Naomi, Alexa and Mickie James in their division and it still be a complete dumpster fire is criminal. It's like they're going out of their way to fuck it up. -

Yeah, I haven't written Miro off completely. I'm still rooting for him. I get not wanting to insert him into a main even program right off the bat, but it's like they went about it in the worse possible way. -

Such a shame that Loss, Dylan etc all bounced. That GWE debate really did a number. -

Edited it. Five months and counting. There's no real focus, it's a mess. They had a chance to get some real fun out of it with a bachelor party and then Chucky T as the butler. But nothing. -
Haha yeah. That really was the start of Cody's downswing. Even his entrance music sucks now!

Today marks the two year anniversary of Becky's push circling down the drain. I'll never forgive 'em for it. Imagine the Lana/Lashley wedding angle, but with zero stakes involved and all the campy sleaze sucked out of it and replaced by a plodding, drab, half baked storyline featuring vanilla scrubs that nobody could possibly care about. And stretch it out for five months and counting. -
