  1. Yeah, we should probably have a list of owners out there and who is in draft and who is not. Kris? This was why i wanted clarification on the owners when making the save.
  2. Don't forget to add the note on women and mini troupes to the freelancers in the rules. I'd send out a message anyway reminding everyone that we are soon to start and that now is the time to get any needed feedback in.
  3. You can always put your name in as first alternate/on the waiting list when a spot opens up.
  4. I prefer half random/half snake.
  5. Not sure when, but most likely 85-86. He's definitely around by 86.
  6. Thanks Kris. I actually agree with Flyin' Brian about having to draft teams together. It adds another element to the draft.
  7. Could Los Medicos be added to the list of tag teams? By July 10 they win the NA Tag titles, so it's very likely they were already in PR by the start date.
  8. I guess we should go ahead and set the draft start date and send a PM to everyone about the date (and to remind them that now is the time to get their feedback in on whatever matters are outstanding). We should have the final list of wrestlers saved, freelancers, available to be drafted and unavailable due to X reason (injury, retired , inactive, etc.) posted for the draft. I think any other issues can be hammered out as the draft goes on.
  9. Right now the freelancers list is: Andre the Giant (although he would likely be with WWF and controlled from there) Abdullah the Butcher Bruiser Brody Mil Mascaras The Sheik? And then we would have women and minis as separate touring troupes.
  10. Depending on how long this goes on for, maybe these guys could be introduced later, along with wrestlers who debut in 1984 and "come on the scene". I'm happy with Lauper and Mr T not being available yet. If anyone has celebrities they want to use they could nominate them for the next draft coming up on the timeline. Personally, i'd leave celebrities out of the draft but would leave it open to discussion by anyone who would like to use them.
  11. Yeah, I asked about the Sheik in the roster thread (I think it was the roster thread). i would probably go freelancers, but use a similar system for dates like the NWA champion.
  12. It does stretch credibility slightly that all of the freelancers would work the same territory then switch to the same one every month. I would be careful with going this route too much. Well there really aren't that many, especially if JVK is allowed to keep Andre. Then you really only have Abby & Brody as true freelancers. Abby & Brody did kind of work like a touring feud at times. That's true. but we also have Mil Mascaras in the mix.
  13. It does stretch credibility slightly that all of the freelancers would work the same territory then switch to the same one every month. I would be careful with going this route too much. It should probably control of the bookings and provide them with a territory to work if there are no claims for certain dates. What does everyone else think?
  14. So you suggest that every month the person in charge of handling the dates for the freelancers rotates. That could be a way to go. The only thing is that some months you'll get them almost entirely booked with Japan dates, so that may be needed to be taken into account.
  15. One more comment about the WWC roster list, I would probably not include Ray Apollon. He was almost exclusive to Trinidad (along with Thunderbolt Williams) and would make an odd appearance here and there in Puerto Rico. They're basically the Jack Veneno and Relampago Hernandez of Trinidad. Should we include Huracan Castillo Sr on the list? He 's about a year away from retirement, although not currently a part of WWC until he comes back in 84 (unless he's included as office personnel since he basically comes back to retire and become commissioner).
  16. Agree with making them freelancers. So that would mean we would have a thread for booking the NWA champion, one for women and one for minis?
  17. So...put them up for redraft between Japan tours? Or have a separate draft just for freelancers? At this point I'm leaning towards just including them in the regular draft. Whoever gets them will already have their time limited in using them due to Japan and would likely have them take outside bookings since they can't consistently book them week to week. If we go that route, would any of them "belong" to a territory's current roster and qualify as a potential save pick?
  18. Good question. I guess we could either include them in the draft or treat them as freelancers.
  19. I'll take Honkytonk Man. !!!! Considering the Vancouver roster, either he or Ron Starr would have been my pick from that group.
  20. Yes, just look at the Vancouver roster in the roster list thread and pick someone to keep from that list. Welcome aboard!
  21. Yeah, Wahoo (if he confirms he's taking Vancouver) and Peachchaos I think are the ones left to make their save picks. I think we still have to codify how we are handling the freelancers. The more i think about it, they should probably be assigned to a territory that would serve as their handler for working other dates. that way they have a territory to work at when they are not out on other dates, but they have to be handles in such a way where they are not hogged or restricted by their handler territory. With wrestlingdata currently down I can't check the proportion but in general you get the following: Andre the Giant - Although he does travel and works dates for different territories, these are mostly one shots. The bulk of his time is either in Japan or WWF. Bruiser Brody - He moves around but it seems to be within the same 3-4 areas. In 83 he goes back and forth from Japan, Texas, Central States/St. louis and even some Florida. Abdullah the Butcher - Works a lot in Japan and Puerto Rico, with wrestlingdata down can't confirm where else. Mil Mascaras - Mexico and spot dates in the U.S and Puerto Rico. (can't confirm with wrestlingdata down where he was visiting with more frequency). Would The Sheik be considered a freelancer also? We do need to get this and the procedure for requesting dates on the NWA champ codified to avoid confusion later.
  22. I go back and forth on whether Barrabas should be included in the managers list. He was definitely managing before and after this time period, but for July 83 I think he was wrestling and serving as an associate to Hugo.
  23. Grimmas can confirm if it's a go, if it is you get Vancouver.
  24. I'm still iffy on using a monthly draft for freelancers. I think it would be better if they were handled in a similar way like the NWA World champ or had a few active territories they are working at the same time were they would rotate dates for a certain period of time.
  25. Another possibility could be by quality of saved wrestler. At the moment, I lean random.
