  1. Thanks Kris! I actually thought it would have been more wrestlers than that. What are the end dates for these tours?
  2. He was associated with the luchadors (many of which competed in the cruiserweight division), but I don't recall if he was specifically thought of as being in the division. He wasn't in the cruiserweight battle royale at Slamboree 98 for whatever that's worth. Come to think of it, did La Parka ever wrestle for the cruiserweight title?
  3. We're going to have to clear up before the draft which wrestlers have Japanese commitments and which ones (if any) would be freelancers where you have to ask for dates. Although I think there is an almost complete overlap of the guys one would think of as freelancers and the ones with Japanese commitments. Maybe it would make sense just to have them be draftable and any dates would be worked out with the person who has the wrestler? Or maybe set up where they rotate within a few set territories and that could switch every certain amount of time?
  4. Wouldn't Harley Race be Central States? Then again, if he is NWA champ that does cut down notably on his availability to the territory. Besides me (still deciding on what my top 3 list would be), who has not yet posted their top 3 territory preferences? I've got the following so far (let me know if i missed someone's listed choices): 1. Grimmas - Montreal, Toronto, Florida 2. Kris Zellner - GCW, JCP, Florida 3. Beast - JCP, WCCW, PNW 4. Cross Face Chicken Wing - AWA, Mid-South, PNW 5. JerryvonKramer - WWF, Mid-South, GCW 6. Jesse Ewiak - WCCW, PNW, Southwest 7. DylanWaco 8. goc - Southwest, Florida, Montreal 9. El Boricua 10. dedhemingway 11. Boon - Southeastern, Memphis (CWA), PNW 12. dkookypunk43 13. dawho5 - GCW, Mid-South, Stampede 14. TravJ1979 - Memphis (CWA), GCW, WWF 15. Flyin Brian - ICW, Southeastern, Stampede 16. Peachchaos - Memphis (CWA), ?,? 17. RockinCrypt - Mid-South, ICW, PNW
  5. In a world were Kane had a run with Austin in 98, I don't see why La Parka couldn't have been a viable challenger.
  6. Next weekend sounds good for the initial pick and save before the draft. How would the territories be doled out?
  7. Actually, Jose Luis Rivera was not in WWC at this time. I think he left in 1982. Jose Estrada and Johnny Rodz did start in July as the Medics though. If we're adding jobbers than I think Maravilla, Isaac Rosario, Tony Colon and Pedro Valdes would qualify.
  8. Draft for rosters. What goc is talking about is how much of that roster should be held onto every six months.
  9. No worries Kris, it's frustrating the overall lack of results for WWC but we make do. I'm not sure if they were still there in July, but around May-June we had the following wrestlers in WWC (not including those already listed in the WWC roster list above): Ron Sexton Frank Dusek Jim Dillon Crazy Luke Graham Kendo Nagasaki (I actually think he was in WWC in July since he appears at Aniversario in September) Victor Jovica (semi-regular that pops in now and then as a wrestler) Angelo Rivera Chicky Starr El Monarca Javier Cruz (he's not there by September and probably should not be listed since he goes back to Mexico) Goro Tsurumi Barrabas Ox Baker Gorilla Monsoon did some shots during this time with his last appearance being Aniversario 83 against Tamba. The Sheik did some shots in the first part of the year. Don't think they were in WWC in July, but were there earlier in the year and do not see them on the list: Gino De La Serra Pierre Martel/Frenchy Martin (think he was in Grand Prix at this time) Others that I don't see: Jose Estrada (started as Medico 1 in July in WWC, tag partner was Johnny Rodz as Medico 2) Jose Luis Rivera Rick Valentine/Kerry Brown (think he was Grand Prix at the time) Bruiser Bedlam/Johnny K-9 Dick Steinborn (although he may be close to retirement at this point) Iranian Assassin (may be there under a different name) Gerry Morrow Bob De La Serra/Heffernan Sweet Daddy Siki Perro Aguayo was the Junior heavyweight champion, but he would only pop in for increasingly sporadic appearances (he remains recognized as the Junior champion all the way to summer of 84). Enrique Vera, Scorpio and Mr. Tempest had already gone back to Mexico before May. Bob Sweetan, Gypsy Joe, Gama Singh and Tamba start at some point in late summer/early fall (they are all there by Aniversario 83). Tim Tall Tree tags with Gypsy Joe a s the Infernos at Aniversario 83. Chief Thundercloud and Chuy come in at some point, but not sure if it was just for Aniversario or for how long. Masa Fuchi and Masao Ito had stints earlier than July, but I don't think would qualify.
  10. At the moment we have 11 (maybe 12 if dkookypunk43 makes it official in the sign-up thread). Hopefully we can get a few more people, but maybe we should establish a "final call" soft deadline for initial sign-ups for the draft? It could be next weekend to give people one week since the sign-up thread went up to decide. At most no more than two weeks. After that, someone can jump in and take over a vacant territory, although they will have missed the draft and make do with what's left in terms of wrestlers (unless the territories get a roster assigned during the draft anyway). It's a balancing act in giving time for those still on the fence or that have not yet seen the threads vs. not losing momentum with those already signed up.
  11. To confirm, this as of July 1 of 83, right?
  12. Alright, so we're shooting for 18-20 sign-ups. Hopefully we get them and have a blast doing this.
  13. Agree with a max roster number. Some territories had around 12-14 regular guys, with some additional job guys for tv and some semi regulars that would pop in on an infrequent basis. How are we handling real-life periods of inactivity (ex. Terry Funk, Steamboat, Backlund) and career altering/ending events (ex. Magum TA, Kerry Von Erich)?
  14. Will there be different roster sizes depending on the territory or will it be the same number for everyone? Would we also draft enhancement talent?
  15. Awesome! Looking forward to listening to this and finding out if anything was smashed in frustration trying to work these cards out (November due to the overlap of guys due to Survivor Series matches and December for the horrible cards). From 87-96 in November you are pretty much stuck with little maneuver room in making the selections.
  16. Depending on how we determine which wrestlers tour Japan, I don't think it would be too complicated. We know the dates of the tours, we would just have to determine if we only go by actual wrestlers that toured over there or if some others would end up going. The first is easier, just have a list with the tour dates and who would be on it as a reference. The second one (having "new" wrestlers go on tour) its a bit trickier with regards in how do you determine if they go and with which company in Japan. Of course, the unavailability dates would start a bit before the tours and a bit after to allow for travel to and from Japan.
  17. Are we going to have a few guys tabbed as special attractions where you request dates where no one controls them or would they be drafted by someone and used as trade bait (ex. I'll lend you Andre for this date in exchange for this guy for this date)?
  18. The two that first came to mind have already been mentioned: WCW vs. NWO and Savage vs. Roberts (well, this one under every Jake feud since Mid-South). Maybe Undertaker vs. Ultimate Warrior?
  19. If the new booking terretorial thing doesn't happen then I will go back to WCCW. Well, in that case, congratulations on your victory!
  20. I'd also consider Carlos Colon for this year. The second half of the Hansen feud (including the bullrope and cage matches) and his feud with Hercules Ayala that took up a chunk of the year.
  21. 1986 is the first year where I feel I could mention Carlos Colon and be able to point to footage to back that up (the first half of the Hansen feud, the Universal title tournament, the TNT feud where he got choked out, Vengeance in the Afternoon, etc.). It was also the year of the ammonia angle, so he did sit out a couple of months selling the attack. Like Dylan mentioned, Invader 1 could be a possibility (he had the feud with Chicky & Ron Starr, plus the Embry and Flair matches are from that year). I'll look into both to see if i can flesh out some more detail.
  22. That's a shame Parv, I remember when I lost a long running TNM fed I had back in the day to computer failure and it really sucks. Just to stir things up a bit, I wouldn't say Grimmas has won yet. Parv did reach the first week of September and posted his financials through the end of August. You could use that to determine who wins. Just have WCCW play it that far on the calendar.and you could compare those results to determine the winner.
  23. If you're starting from January of 83 and go with actual territories, what happens to the territories titles? Would they all be vacant? I'd be interested in doing this based on how the final set-up is. Also, you'd have to add CSP to the available territories list (granted, i'm already calling dibs on it).
  24. Just got back from vacation and find this. Can't wait to give it a listen. I'll post some thoughts once I've had a chance to enjoy.
