  1. Imo Darby beating Cody for the TNT title was big, and it helped elevate Darby while telling a story because Cody had beaten Darby during the tournament for the title. I don't know if Darby was as over in May as he was when he beat Cody in November. That loss also started Darby's long feud with Taz, which went nowhere for a long time, but ultimately resulted in the Sting tag. That title run in general did a lot for AEW, because Cody was a star and an established name and his open challenge allowed a lot of newcomers and rookies to look good against a guy of his status and immediately fit into AEW. Guys like Kingston and Ricky Starks benefited a lot by debuting against Cody. As far as Brodie, his squash of Cody definitely made him look like a monster, and he barely got beaten after getting choked with a chain in the rematch. We don't know how their feud would have concluded for sadly obvious reasons. In general, Cody being a main event gatekeeper where if you beat him, you can basically headline a Dynamite episode, has been good booking that has used Cody's status and push to help elevate young talent by giving a visual cue to fans that these guys are legit stars and potential main eventers. I think it's sensible hierarchical booking and Cody has done everything to hold his end of the bargain. MJF for example. Before beating Cody, he was basically Cody's comic sidekick who everybody knew was going to turn. When MJF beat Cody, Cody never got anything back on him, immediately transitioning to Jake Roberts. MJF immediately went on to challenge for the world title, and the PPV (and the quarters) did well, so it clearly worked.
  2. This is an incredibly hot promotion. Next week I am sure will see some drop because last night was a breather show and I don't think anyone is intrigued by Christian-Omega, but this has a very summer 1996 Nitro feel where they are throwing so many things at the wall and a lot of it is sticking. I really hope they finish the Hangman arc well
  3. Yeah he def has an argument for best tag wrestler ever. It's not just the two Midnight Express versions, he had an excellent team with Arn and also an extremely fun team with Regal, all of whom are different teams with different appeals. He was a perfect marriage of great input and great output. Everything he did in the ring looked so smooth and so impactful, and he also has a litany of excellent matches on his resume. Truly an all-time great. Rest in peace
  4. Sting looks like he is having the time of his life. Good for him
  5. The name is Kal Ho Na Ho https://m.imdb.com/title/tt0347304/?ref_=m_ttpl
  6. Lmao they chanted the Goodbye song as Cody made his tearful speech. That was so weird. If you just need a hiatus, get beaten down bro, what is all this drama. So happy when Black hit him at the end. This was the weakest Dynamite episode since they came back to Wednesday nights. The Elitw Dark Order angle is melodramatic but it is still intriguing and I want to see where it goes. Most other stuff was just a bunch of workers and storylines I don't care about at all. The main event was great and made Malakai look like a million bucks, but that speech was a lot of drama on a show which already had a lot of drama
  7. Leyla Hirsch is green but she has potential. Looking different from everyone else always helps. Bunny otoh is just bad. Again, they have better women on the roster! Use them!
  8. On the other hand, Miro is amazing
  9. Yeah this show has been weak. Two Elite/Dark Order segments make sense, but a Christian match AND a promo? A promo where he is..singing?
  10. Do they not have stronger challengers for Britt? This Elite Dark Order soap opera is certainly melodramatic eh
  11. Darby Allin is my wrestler of the year so far. I don't think I have seen him in a single bad match this week, and he is frequently having good to great matches every week
  12. They better know where they are going with the Hangman angle. They are walking a V-E-R-Y thin rope. They have earned the trust and goodwill to be given a chance to see it through, but I really hope they know how they are going to reach the end
  13. If AEW is doing well in the money demo, why do I have to sit through ads of middle aged men talking about dick pills
  14. Well that match was what you would expect it to be. Juvi managed to get a couple of good spots, so it accomplished that
  15. Wow somehow Jericho is slower and more out of shape than Juvi
  16. Joked on Twitter that given his wife's Twitter history, it would be him and his wife saying on a live mic "Trump lost, Biden is the President" on national TV There has been some chat on whether it is Lance Storm. That would surely get the elusive Invasion-era fans to tune in
  17. Their booking of the women's division has been quite bad since Double or Nothing. Serena is injured apparently, which explains why she hasn't been on Dynamite, but Riho, Shida, Rosa just came back, they should be finding ways to utilize the good wrestlers they have more
  18. No more rape jokes please!

I think Caster is gay himself, or at least bi. And yeah, not excusing the rape stuff he drops in general, but a 32-year man referencing a terrible school sex scandal in front of a 19-year old girl whose gimmick is varsity cheerleader is significantly more fucked up imo

Oh no, this shit is absolutely, totally unacceptable. Dude covers the entire spectrum of mocking mental health, rape jokes and anti-vaxxer shit. Forget about heat, not only is the crowd completely silent, everyone in the ring and outside is looking so uncomfortable, and justifiably so. I am stunned that this was allowed to air, a rape joke in 2021 is just, I don't even know what to say
  21. Murder Death Kill isn't even a Nick Gage exclusive phrase, I have seen it used in so many different non-wrestling contexts

Yeah if I go back and listen, I will probably hate them a lot more. As a middle-schooler it was funny to me at that time
  23. Has Chicago ever chanted that at Bray Wyatt lol. Has Chicago ever even turned on Bray like that. But it's not surprising, given how she was genuinely offended when she started getting booed as a face

I think he has got surprisingly good reactions from the crowds considering how much he freezes during his raps - I was in the crowd at DoN and he seemed nervous to me - but AEW crowds have been hot for everything so far, so I don't know if it's a false positive. Regarding his raps not needing to be good, I get that, but surely there has to be some balance. Cena's raps were not exactly Jay-Z level, but they still got him over cuz he wasn't so cringe

He's charismatic and is good when he is not doing edgy humour or terrible 'burns' in his terrible rap. I feel he is someone who is getting over with fans inspite of his rapping because he has charisma and there's a connection, because his actual raps are awful and he routinely freezes and gets nervous during his rapping. Trying to get heel heat using Simone Biles is typical wrestling fool not realizing what heat works in wrestling and what doesn't
