Don't disagree with anything in your post, but from what I understand, Rhea is supposed to be a heel? So yeah of course she will need a bunch of smoke and mirrors to win matches and to retain the title. She is supposed to just be hated by fans Of course, the fact that she even needs to be a heel, given how hot she was as a face in December 2019, is a marker of how much WWE booking has failed her.

This honestly seems to me like someone came up with an idea to incorporate "reality" into storyline, except they did not think of how it would appear when it plays out in real time. Cuz this one just makes Rhea look like an idiot. As it is, she has been damaged so bad in the last year. Do we need to keep doing this to her? Charlotte seems to have actively regressed as a wrestler. She was always the least of the 4 Horsewoman in my opinion, even when she was the only one amongst them who got pushed; even when she was getting a stronger push than the other three combined. She has always been behind Sasha and Becky in terms of being big stars and actual draws, and she is behind Bayley in terms of being a good in-ring general. But she was at least always competent, even though she would always have botches. Since her return though, she seems to have lost all of her timing. She botches basically every big spot she is supposed to do; in fact, her matches are frequently littered with blown spots. Her storylines are not just about terrible booking but with good to great matches, they are now about terrible booking with extremely underwhelming-to-downright bad wrestling matches. I am not sure what has happened, but she seems like she has lost the only redeeming feature she had: being a part of great matches. Thus, now, not only does she look like the least of the four Horsewomen, in my opinion, she looks even worse; she looks like someone actively being an impediment in the progress of women wrestlers much better and with a much stronger connection with fans than she does.

I mean if Drew comes back in a mask and calls himself the Midnight Rider, I would on a personal level mark the fuck out, but overall it would also be really stupid and would only hurt the promotion. A lot of old-time tricks do not work in the modern weekly primetime wrestling. JCP found this out the hard way, when all their "Dusty Finishes" (which had existed long before Dusty was around and was used to draw money in a ton of territories) led to fans getting burnt and no longer investing in the promotion or its matches. Imo the same thing will happen here, except it probably already has happened, becaue WWE has spent the last 20 years that match stipulations do not actually matter

What the fuck is this? Please tell me there is some larger context to this, and this GIF just cherrypicks the worst moment of the sequence. Because otherwise, this looks genuinely embarrassing, the exact kind of shit the WWE Twitter army would give shit to AEW for weeks. You would get behind storytelling that outrightly and explicitly ignores and shits on the exact stipulation that this match, and the entire PPV, was sold on?

The Mongo parody account on Twitter got taken down/deactivated, which is a shame, because it was evident by looking at a single post that it was not meant maliciously at all, and in fact did a lot of reintroduce Mongo to current fans. We have fucking Disco Inferno talking shit about how that page was disrespectful. Even Disco's mom and his kids would not make a loving parody account for fucking Disco Inferno

Bloodsport is not really "Worked MMA fight" the way this one was, and while the best Bloodsport matches are great, a normal one is just boring. They definitely should not have booked a worked MMA match. If nothing else, you require one excellent shootstyle worker for it to even be close to good, and Jake Hager is no one's idea of an excellent worker

I would be more hands off with those who have not spent most of their careers in WWE, and be very hands on with those who have. AEW's biggest challenge is and will be to make itself different from WWE in every possible way. You cannot break away from WWE tropes if you give free hand to those wrestlers who are not just wedded to WWE tropes, but also do not know anything different. As annoying as the Bucks are, their heel run has made me enjoy them more than I have enjoyed any of their other work in AEW. So I am okay with having a hands off approach to them, even though I would personally tell Nick Jackson to ask his brother to chill the fuck out. Omega is a different issue. I don't think it's unfair to say that he has shown over his career that he needs a good booker giving him focus and direction and supervising his run for him to achieve his potential. When Gedo had him booked in a long chase of Okada's title, then his incredible athletic gifts and his talent at thinking of good creative finishes were moulded and used to give him an excellent main event run. But when he is just fucking around with Don Callis, then he can be unbearable. It is even more jarring because the previous world champion was a kickass smash mouth babyface who, regardless of what you think of his in-ring work, was excellent at cutting promos and out-of-ring stuff. Perhaps more importantly, Mox's promos used to be short and to the point, while Omega and Callis sometimes talk for 15 minutes and you will have no ide what they are trying to say So it has to be looked at on a case to case basis. More free hand to people like Darby - seriously, his videos and montages are excellent, and very true to his character and personality, and it is not surprising to see how he has become perhaps AEW's biggest homegrown draw - and Taz and Tully, less of the free hand to Jericho and Big Show and even Miro, who hasn't shown himself to be a creative genius
