  1. Thanks so much guys, this is basically the greatest achievement I will ever have in my life, it doesn't even matter what I go on to do for the rest of years on our planet. This is the peak
  2. Wow, I seem to have started a discussion that does deserve a thread. Anyway, not to interrupt, but I GOT STONE COLD STEVE AUSTIN TO WISH MY MOM A HAPPY BIRTHDAY AND I AM SO FUCKING HAPPY!! This made my mom's day!!!
  3. I totally understand the spirit of what you were saying. On the other hand though, I think the Hart Foundation is like, the most overrated tag team in WWF history ever, which means that while I loved the character work and personality that Anvil brought to the matches, his actual in-ring work was absolutely terrible. It's very damning in my opinion cuz that meant Bret was carrying on his shoulders the work part of the matches, but he himself had zero kind of captivating character or personality, so it made the matches quite boring. I think the first time Bret got a defined character he could focus on and sink his teeth into, was with the Piper and Davey matches in 1992. His in-ring work became a lot more memorable after that
  4. lol yeah, Tony was literally reminiscing with Mike Simpervieve about all the discussions and arguments they used to have on DVDVR 20 years ago. Dude is most definitely is one of us, for good and for bad
  5. Ha! True, but I really don't think Riho is getting the title back. I don't think AEW is putting the title on her again
  6. Here, eat your heart out. Imo, it's definitely him. And I am delighted that the biggest competition and scare Vince has had in this millennium is a DVDVR shitposter and PWO lurker
  7. Can you at least link us to what you said please
  8. I am a massive Shida fan, I think she has had excellent matches. I also think people who hate Riho are stupid, cuz not only are her matches great, but she is a proven ratings draw, every match she has had has gained viewers, and during the crowd era, her matches would get increasingly more heat as they progress, which is a surefire shot of a great worker and a box office draw. I just think that, given Britt's excellent segments and promos, she feels like she has a lot more upside than either Riho or Shida, and she can be a great champ and the only one who elevates the women's division to truly another level. It's why I feel the belt needs her. The old-school mentality of the belt going to the most over person
  9. Absolutely stunned that Britt lost. She is by far the biggest (only?) star in the women's division, the belt needs her. It's the only case in major league American wrestling today where the world title needs someone more than the person needs the world title. Instead, she lost to Nyla and like, when was the last time Nyla was even on Dynamite? Not stunned that Fenix lost, but still disappointed. He needs to win big singles matches. He is otherworldly great, and definitely can be world champ. So far he is the wrestler of the year for me, this Archer match was tremendous as well
  10. When did the commentators start calling Taker the "best pure striker in history"? Cuz that always seemed to me to be ridiculous and plainly stupid, even by pro wrestling standards. Taker's punches were fine, but not even slightly close to the all-time great tier. And given he basically never threw any other strike apart from punches, this bold claim was made because of his punches
  11. I am beginning to watch the episode right now - your boy had a date which postponed his Wednesday wrestling watch unfortunately, but on the flip side, the date was good, and apparently, she had attended lucha shows in Mexico City during a couple of trips there, so that's always a plus! Might ask her to watch an El Dandy comp if subsequent dates work out well - and I just want to reiterate how fucking cool Mox is. How was the entire show in general, good brothers? I honestly feel Dynamite in 2021 has been very hit-or-miss, not nearly as good as they were just 5 months ago
  12. Corny also started going toe to toe with actual wrestlers more and more since he turned face with the Original Midnights angle. It's ironic given how he is constantly trashing the Bucks and many others for not looking tough or believable.

I hope he doesn't wrestle. His last run involved him putting over everyone, and if he gets a push as an unstoppable monster, it just makes AEW looks like the B-league promotion
  14. Fenix v. Archer has the potential to be MOTY
  15. So Tony Khan appeared on WOL and basically confirmed that he was the one who started the infamous DVDVR sleaze thread
  16. Also, I know they did crossover angles and shit, but a combined SMW/ECW would have been an excellent third promotion in the 90s. Paul E and Corny booking the same show together would have led to something interesting, because I feel they would have complemented each other really well if they could have stopped themselves from killing each other. Speaking of, what do you guys think of Corny-booked OVW and Heyman-booked OVW? I think the Corny version is considered more critically acclaimed, but I might be wrong
  17. To be fair, Harley had started the big bumping and high workrate main event style before Flair did; Flair was just much better at it. Plus, it also varied by territory; NorCal had Stevens and Patterson and while I haven't seen a lot of their 70s work, I am sure they worked like Flair/Steamboat/MX Express
  18. Hunter being a non-drinker who bails out drinking and pill-popping buddies is pretty much his greatest talent and the reason he is where he is today
  19. Apparently, Batista and Taker were a bit pissed that they were allotted relatively little time for their match, and that it was buried midway on the card, so they both decided to go out and steal the show. You can really see the motivation and the energy stemming from both of them. They definitely accomplished their goal; it has been a while since I have watched Cena-Shawn from that night, but last time I did, I remember picking Taker-Batista as the match of the night
  20. This is very logical and makes sense..except I don't think Bruno was really trying to make sense when he ranted about Hogan. He absolutely despised Hogan, so he really meant to say that Hogan didn't have staying power at all over a period of time and that his drawing ability would diminish with time. I think he genuinely believed that, which is why an analysis of the numbers and figures, especially in 1984-1985, when Hogan was hitting cities and territories frequently, and with far more regularity than he would subsequently when he would become a true, proper national touring champion, would be really useful in deciphering whether Bruno's claims were accurate
  21. Think it's the latter. At this point Rock by himself is probably worth more than the entire WWE

Anna Jay has shoulder injury and is out for 6-12 months
  23. I had found Austin's interviews with Bret and Flair to be boring and generic - mainly because they did not tread any new ground there; do we really need Bret talking about Montreal for the 862nd time? - but his interviews with Bayley and now Sasha have been fantastic? Really really excellent, and I cannot recommend them enough. It helps that Austin is very obviously a massive fan of both Bayley and Sasha. There's a lot of respect and admiration that's plainly evident. Also, on that note: Even the biggest box office draw in wrestling history and the world's toughest son of a bitch knows not to get in the middle of two women having a fight
  24. Okay, so if your issue with Orton is that he executed these face moves boringly and they didn't enhance the match, I can see that. I like the match more than you, but yeah, Orton is really bland in general, and he seems to be unable to show any kind of urgency in his matches. Like the exact opposite of people like Steve Austin and Riki Choshu, where anything they did seemed like the eye of the storm. Also, if you have these reviews written out, why are we not getting them more quickly?
  25. Question for historians here - (Really wish @mookeighana still posted here): how much trusth is there to the claim, made especially by Bruno, that Hogan did not draw well when he would headline in the same city month after month for subsequent shows, and therefore he had to be booked as a special attraction appearing only 2-3 times a year? One of Bruno's biggest criticisms of Hogan was that attendance for shows that Bruno would headline would go up in the 2nd match, and even more in the 3rd match in the 3rd month, while with Hogan the trend was the exact opposite. I was wondering if there was any truth to this claim
