  1. I would take creepy joshi stans over racist xenophobic rants any day. Also, I don't believe in kink-shaming but this was a hilarious response:
  2. Shockingly, the possibility of Alexa Bliss showing up in the main event and doing her worst Exorcist impression was not a hit with women
  3. I've never heard of this wrestler before but she ratio'd the crap out of Corny so I am a fan already
  4. @GSR is a mod
  5. She really screamed "MY HOLE" I refuse to believe this was not some backstage rib
  6. I would def get the reference haha, the Coen brothers are some of my fav Hollywood filmmakers
  7. Just a clarification on this: would Jumbo using suplexes really be that big an affront to the sumo social order, since he was immediately groomed to be the number 2 star and eventual ace? If it had been just any lower-carder doing all the moves, then yeah, I could see the old-timey sumo people getting offended. To an extent, this culture still permeates puro, given how the Young Lions in their matches in NJPW still are not allowed to use a whole bunch of moves. Once again, a fantastic, outstanding thread and thank you for doing this!
  8. So is Orton a face or a heel? Raw is literally the worst show on television. I'd take daytime soaps over Raw at this point
  9. Loving all the recaps, TTK! I love how Bischoff did not even take seriously the possibility of a physical confrontation with Cornette. Just a throwaya "That never happened but like, of course I would have kicked his ass. He is a carny fuck" Has there been anyone who cuts promos about getting into fights and trying to beat up other people while being a laughable weakling - and make fun of other people's looks while looking like Kentucky weasel with an eating disorder - more than Corny?
  10. Don't have anything to add except these posts are amazing. I adore reading about wrestling history, so thank you so much for these.
  11. Looking at the recent Smackdown results, I think Daniel Bryan deserves a discussion here, cuz he encapsulates both sides of the coin. We know he has a lot of creative freedom in his angles, and Vince has a ton of respect for him. He is using this freedom to put over everyone. While the sentiment is laudable, when you are losing to everyone, then a win over you has no value. Losing to Cesaro in a 5-min match after you have lost to everyone else does not elevate Cesaro in any way; it just makes Cesaro look like someone who beat a jobber. The old adage of putting over everyone puts over no one. For me, Bryan's generosity really drives home the point that in wrestling, being too unselfish is a vice, not a virtue.
  12. No offense taken at all, thanks for clarifying!
  13. Is it me or is Tony Khan just completely wasted in all of his Impact promos? I am not complaining mind you, the best way to have an upgrade to McMemphis is to have someone be drunk or high on weed doing the shtick instead of Vince presumably being tripping balls on cocaine in the early 90s
  14. Not saying you meant this that way, but this, in my opinion, comes across like "If you think blatant misogyny is bad, it's your problem." Lots of things were acceptable back in the day which should never have been acceptable and are not acceptable now. Corny's racist and sexist rant is one of them. Like, none of us here have defended Jade Cargill's working ability. You just have to look at the weekly AEW threads; I have frequently said she is the absolute worst promo in wrestling today, and that the Shaq angle is the drizzling shits which I don't know the point of doing. But there's a way to convey that without coming across as a dumbass bigoted dick. You managed to do that. All of us have managed to do it. I don't think it is unreasonable to expect that Corny also manages to do that.
  15. Just had to share this masterpiece with you good brothers. Have a great weekend!!
  16. 10-year anniversary of this all-time legendary moment
  17. He probably didn't like Bianca cuz that's one too many black women on his TV

I mean I think it's obvious what held him back

He absolutely should have, but Ernie Ladd excepted, most promoters did not book black wrestlers as heels. And of course they were not going to give a black wrestler their world title. This might be a topic for another thread, but how many black wrestlers did Hogan feud with in his big WWF face run?

  21. Terrible news. He was one of the best, most underrated wrestlers of the 1980s. RIP
  22. Yeah, Goldberg was not an unselfish top guy. But, going back to the original post, his was a case when he should not have been unselfish. His character depended on being invincible and he couldn't do what Rock and Flair did and get his heat back after a loss with a promo. He needed to win almost every match he did.
  23. I am by no means a Jade fan, but of course Corny had to be racist and misogynistic while making his point
  24. Point B looking forward to Friday morning @MoS It's going to be the first Test Series on Network TV in the UK since the Ashes 2005. And we'll need a performance like that again. And finally, Point C) Disco Bollywood tunes ucking bang Thanks, mate. I would shamelessly spread my culture a bit more - which actually includes Fake!Taker and Crush having a wrestling match in a Bollywood movie, but I think I shared it a few years back, and I don't want to be the desi version of, I dunno, Don Callis
  25. Taker confirmed and talked about it in detail on the Austin podcast
