Alvarez and Meltzer made a point on radio yesterday: people are saying next week's line-up is PPV calibre. 2 months ago, none of the matches announced except for Omega-PAC would have been considered as even belonging on a PPV. It shows what a tremendous job AEW has done in putting over its wrestlers and making them feel like stars.

Cornette should treat this as a loser leaves town match and plan his triumphant baby-face return for when Vince Russo is dominating the air-waves with his controversial opinions on modern wrestling.
-
One of the reasons I stopped really following WWE because no match or angle, no matter how good in vacuum, has any stakes or leads to consequences. WWE clearly does not care about these characters' journey, so why should I?
-
Yeah, I was wondering the same. NXT put Becky Lynch first and ended a gigantic overrun with Seth Rollins. I actually thought they would beat AEW by a bigger margin. I didn't think they would beat AEW in the 18-49 demo, because they have been losing that comprehensively, but I expected that to be nearly even, given WWE has two shows this weekend and the NXT invasion angle was plugged on main roster television as well. I dunno if WWE are happy with the ratings - if nothing else, the fact that they finally got more viewers will be a relief - but I do think AEW will not be disappointed with the ratings.

It was an excellent segment. Jericho has been on fire in AEW.
-
Listening to Meltzer, the bit where Jericho did not want to say sorry was apparently a tribute to Fonzie from Happy Days. Jericho apparently loved an episode which had something similar as a kid and has been wanting to use it in a promo ever since.
-
It would be so Russo if he fucked up the climax of Corny getting his comeuppance angle by making it about himself and getting people to focus on his stupidity.
-
That's true, but it will be really sad if Cornette's defence and ultimately his appeal comes down to "He is better than Russo." That is a really REALLY low bar to clear.
-
For being a money mark, Dixie sure got the scummy promoter part just right.
-
There's certainly no love lost between Dixie and Cornette, and to be fair, I can see why he would hate someone who liked Russo so much she would literally lie to keep him involved. I don't know the details, but I believe Russo and TNA management did try to screw Cornette.

Mox-Allin was excellent. Both Mox and Allin came across as stars and Mox looks like a complete badass now. Maybe he feuds with Jericho next. Loved this episode. I would have rather the women's match was followed by Kong killing both of them instead of a Dark Order promo - and I bet that loses a shit-ton of viewers, especially given how loaded NXT was tonight - and a bit less of Billy Gunn, with MJF getting some promo time instead, but overall, this was an excellent show. AEW are doing a good job of every match having consequences and actual stakes.

I watched the overrun after Dynamite ended. I would have rather it ended with Lee and Rollins going blow to blow, but that was wild. NXT has some excellent guys on the roster. I can't wait to see Becky-Rhea.
-
Good promo for Omega, but I do wish they would have more interviews in the ring and on the stage. Interacting with the live crowd makes it feel better, especially if the crowd is hot and the crowd tonight has been really hot.
-
Not sure what happened there, but that kind of sucked the momentum out of the match.
-
I also like how Dynamite flows. Luchasaurus was next in action but he did not sit back and let the heels beat up faces, and came out to help, and then quickly squashed someone to get even more over.
-
Yes a squash!! Luchasaurus is awesome

Jericho is such a star. He has no problems looking vulnerable, or even getting clearly manipulated by the face into giving a title shot - funny how wrestling is better when faces outsmart heels- and yet you absolutely buy him when he says he is the greatest of all time. He is having the run of his life here.
-
Should have given MJF the mike after the end, so he could go crazy on the Elite and Billy Gunn.
-
That stapler thing.... I really wish they don't do stuff like that. At least not on TV.
-
This match is much longer than it needs to be. I thought AEW had learned about having more variety and promos/interviews last week. And Britt Baker is really not someone you want to put in a position of having a long match.
-
Starting this show with arguably the biggest star/draw in the world (Becky's quarters are consistently amongst the highest rated and from what I have read, she sells a lot of merchandise) shows that WWE is absolutely not fucking around. The problem of course is that such angles inherently cannot be long-term, so I hope they use today's episode to massively put Riddle and Lee over, because those two rule.
-
This match is too go-go-go for me to really get into it, but the crowd has been hot for it. Is there a reason J.R keeps picking on Schiavone? I know they had heat in the past but like, it's been 25 years.
-
Here's hoping they keep giving MJF an open mic every week and let him go crazy.
-
It's a very reasonable request/demand, though, in my opinion.
