  1. When you make a deal with the devil, you should expect to get fucked. Hopefully, it's something minor and is quickly resolved, but makes WWE realise with whom who they are dealing.
  2. I haven't watched the show but I saw this on Twitter: Hopefully everyone is safe and fine and this is some traffic/flight problem!!
  3. Given how ratings from Friday onwards have been downward across the board, it will be interesting to see how ratings are for the next cycle. Meltzer has spoken about wrestling fatigue due to the sheer volume of wrestling affecting all companies and creating pretty much the opposite of a boom. Hopefully that is not the case and things revert to good for both shows next week.
  4. I liked this episode more than the debut episode and even last week's. This week had more promos and segments, and not every match went too long with multiple false finishers. I liked the balance and the pacing of this episode a lot. It was so easy to sit through. The only time I really groaned was when the Librarian came to the ring, and that quickly turned into awesomeness when Mox beat him up and cut a brilliant promo.
  5. I'm with you. I am glad they have depushed him from the world title scene at least. I am guessing he is beaten by Jake Hager in the latter's first AEW match.
  6. I do like how they are trying to get non-finisher endings over, first with Cody-Guevera, and now this. Hopefully they start scaling back on overuse of finishers. On that note, did anyone catch J.R saying "If you cannot win after so many superkicks, then maybe you need to rethink your strategy" during the Elite match.
  7. This was the type of promo Triple H has wished he could cut and been trying to cut for 2 decades now.
  8. I hope that is the symbolic killing of that gimmick. Finally Mox has a live mic!
  9. Santana and Ortiz are arguably the MVPs of tonight.
  10. I also loved how Tony said on commentary afterwards that they should have known something was up when Jericho started talking about respect and being pros - which were also shots at WWE. "That's not who Jericho is. But he is good at playing mind games, isn't he?"
  11. Cody is so over. This genuinely feels big-time.
  12. I am glad it was a short match. Every match going very long has been an issue people have pointed at AEW so if nothing else it's a good sign from that perspective.
  13. Oh Cornette is going to blow up isn't he
  14. This Rick and Morty crossover is a good idea for the demographic advertisers love. Hopefully this match is short though. They are already having the tag team title final tonight.
  15. Ricky Morton at nearly 65 just did probably the best sell job of the year. That got Santana and Ortiz more over than anything they have done so far in AEW imo.
  16. That Brandi-Kong promo was....intense. I hope Kong comes on Dynamite and squashes someone soon.
  17. I really like the different ways they are opening their shows and incorporating segments without invisible cameras or insulting their fans' intelligence. I am cool with Khan being a babyface Tuney-like character who remains largely behind the scenes and makes appearances accordingly.
  18. After Smackdown's FS1 number against baseball, I think the expectations from both will be very low, so hopefully both companies stick to their long-term planning for the show and don't do anything ridiculous.
  19. I might be wrong, but the only heel they have heered against him is Fiend? Usually he gets meh reactions, and that is not being disrespectful to him. https://www.f4wonline.com/wwe-news/wwe-raw-draws-third-worst-ratings-2019-296081 Apparently they did this number against a low-rated American football game. All demographics fell consistently throughout as the show went over, like the general trend has been, so at the very least, we can say the Rusev-Lana-Lashley angle is not generating any particular interest amongst viewers, cuz they built this show around the segment.
  20. Yeah, unlike Seth, he is an actual draw. Forget about Roman, if Cena had received a push as strong as Seth has received, he would have been a bigger draw than he eventually became, and he was a pretty big draw. Wtf does Seth consider "enough respect" anyway? Crowd chanting "BURN IT DOWN" and "ROLLINS" every time he does a promo or interview?
  21. I don't think Charlotte has been truly over in a long time, face or heel. She was in many ways the embodiment of WWE overbooking simple stuff during Ronda v. Becky, and while she gets a reaction and the Flair spots always get a pop, she just seems there, almost unimportant.
  22. For all their weaknesses, I think WWE has done a good job booking Becky as the badass babyface ace in the last couple of months. The simple fact that she does not just shut up and listen to her opponents run their mouth and berate her, and comes out and starts fighting, goes a long way in doing that. I know people felt that Sasha should have won the world title, and I can definitely see that, but they are going all in on Becky and treating her as a genuine top person, and that's something that I respect. She cuts good promos and is charismatic so that helps.

    Is WWE redeemable?

Dave wrote in the Observer that the 3,000 number was so bad, they first thought it was a technical glitch, but there were no glitches and everything was fine. Perhaps it was just a bad night.
  24. Meltzer wrote in the Observer that it "was the first non-sellout, with 6,000 fans in an arena that with the set up could have sold 9,500 tickets. But those there were hot for everything." Not a sellout, but a good number nonetheless. When was the last time a non-WWE American pro wrestling company did such numbers 4 weeks in a row?
  25. https://www.cagesideseats.com/wwe/2019/10/24/20931010/aew-nxt-ratings-viewership-oct-23-2019-wednesday-night-war-wwe Given all the sports competition on Wednesday, with both NBA coming back and the World Series happening, is it fair to say that both shows did well? I think so. The 18-49 demographic remaining flat instead of declining has to be a good sign for both companies.
