The Swerve segment was weird but I like Rick Ross. He seems to have natural charisma and might make for a great manager

Amazing how Danielson can cut a terrifying, scary promo raining hellfire on MJF, and then also do some light-hearted back and forth with Stokely Hathaway. He really is the GOAT

CM Punk posted a story with FTR, and also took an indirect dig at MJF while doing commentary for some MMA show recently, which makes me think (hope? wish?) that all sides have agreed to business and he might be returning sooner or later. TBH, if TK cannot get all of them to come on board and do business, then that's a big indictment of him as a promoter. Yes, the media scrum was bad, yes, the fight was ugly, but come on. This is pro wrestling. It doesn't crack the top 1000 of ugly things that have happened, wherein all parties ultimately decided to do business and make money.
  4. What a fucking game. So happy for Messi. Mbappe has one already, and he'll be back for more

FWIW, this is basically exactly how I feel too. Very happy to give justifications if our community warrants, deserves, and asks for that
  6. Thing is, she absolutely was treated like a top star by a lot of fans, but I don't think WWE ever treated her that way. Her reign was essentially a glorified transitional reign between Charlotte's reign and Bayley's big coronation. So as we can see, even at that point in time, she was treated like an excellent hand that could be used to put others over. Like a Daniel Bryan, except she clearly has a lot more personal ambition than Bryan, and justifiably so. It is funny and ironic though that Becky was treated like the least of the 4 Horsewomen - she was the only Takeover defence Sasha had during her NXT title reign - and she ended up surpassing them all.
  7. She is objectively not as good a ratings draw as Sasha, as evidenced by years of quarters of both Raw and Smackdown. Why both Vince and Hunter always preferred her to Sasha, only they would know. I am just happy that Becky got so undeniably over that they had to let her surpass Charlotte in the pecking order. Even then, they fought so hard to treat her as a heel when she first started on her hot run.
  8. The fact that it was reported by an outright WWE mouthpiece, combined with the fact that she has never seemed to have a problem doing jobs when asked. She spent most of her years in WWE putting others over and making them look good. Also the verbiage of the report was very over the top - lying on the locker room floor and crying - and both Bayley and Sasha indirectly addressed it in their interviews with Austin
  9. The MVP-Jericho confrontation, where Meltz essentially repeated verbatim what Jericho told him happened in his report of the incident is a good example. I also think a lot of "Punk was a cancer to AEW's locker room" reports came from him, even though many people, including some posters here, assumed they came from the Elite.
  10. If Sasha signs with AEW expect backstage "reports" about how Sasha is being difficult and ornery, how she is not liked in the locker room, etc. People immediately assume that the Elite spread such rumours, but Jericho has been talking to Meltz and the dirtsheets for 30+ years now, since before his debut. It sometimes amazes me that Meltzer often just takes him at his word and doesn't do the due diligence required to verify his account of events. Speaking of new signings, this episode was a LOT better paced and formatted than typical Dynamite episodes are, and that might have something to do with Kevin Dunn's long-time second-in-command, who has recently signed with AEW. Things were given time to breathe without the show feeling slow, the main event was hyped throughout and the world title match was treated as a big deal- which might be the reason why the last quarter was the first one in ages to gain viewers in the target demo - and every segment hit harder and there were not 5 run-ins and 6 backstage interruptions on the show, something that had become a meme in AEW. I REALLY hope this is a permanent development, because it made the show notably, tangibly better.
  11. He can't deny it cuz he knows it's the truth
  12. I wish we could still like comments on this board
  13. It also struck me that HOOK actually is smaller than Jungle Boy, but actually looks more menacing and feels more dangerous.
  14. Really liked this episode of Dynamite, not as good as last week's but still great. The finish of Jungleboy-Brian Cage was a bit botched, but the post-match made up for it. Also not sure what MJF and Starks were trying to do on the couple of powerbomb spots, felt a little botched, but overall the match was great. Hopefully Dragon brings out something deeper in MJF, the way Punk had. His promo this week was average tbh, and it was quite ironic to listen to him talk about Starks rambling and "taking his time" to get to the point, when in fact, right in that promo, he took like 15 minutes to come to the point, which was not much of a point at all. I feel MJF tries to cosplay Rock (and Flair) a lot more than Starks does.
  15. Don't think he was acting there or fake crying at all. The concussion was real and so were his emotions. And as we have seen, before TK botched his title reign to an unimaginable extent, the audience absolutely bought into his character and its arc, and all his emotions. Him and Omega drew some of the highest quarters in AEW history after all.Hopefully he goes over Mox and they start rehabbing him after butchering all his heat on interminably long feuds with midcarders like Adam Cole.
  16. We should compare the FTR-Briscoes trilogy with other trilogies in wrestling history, including Flair-Steamboat. I think FTR-Briscoes 3 was the greatest match of their trilogy, something you cannot confidently say about Flair-Steamboat, either in 1984 or in 1989, cuz the third is usually considered inferior to both the 2/3 falls Clash match as well as the Chi-Town match. This FTR-Briscoes Double dog collar match was genuinely the best though in their trilogy though. It was the match of the year for me.

Might be the best TV worker in the world today, and certainly one of the top contenders for the same in the last 2-3 years. Along with PAC, he is one of the very very few high flyers who makes it look like his shit genuinely hurts his opponents. He feels like he is genuinely using his body as a weapon with his high flying, unlike a lot of other high flyers, who look like they are executing athletic feats and stunt moves. There is a feeling of violence that emanates from him, something that does not happen with others of his ilk, and also which cannot possibly be beneficial for his health. Also quite underrated as a mat worker, I believe he has some amateur wrestling credentials, which might have something to do with it
  18. The fact that TK could not get a TV deal for ROH makes AEW's existence even more impressive. The fact that AEW was able to get off the ground and be as successful as it is is surreal. Anthem needed to literally buy a channel to keep Impact running, and we all saw ROH had no luck despite Dynamite regularly being a feature of WBD's press releases. Hopefully, this means the end of ROH storylines occupying a giant bulk of AEW TV's time. As far as this PPV is concerned, the FTR-Briscoes match might just be the match of the year for me. If I had to rank their matches, I would go with 3>1>2, but all three were tremendous. It's genuinely hilarious to me that some Elite fans on Twitter want FTR to be gone from AEW just cuz FTR Bald is passive aggressive on Twitter and talks to Corny. They are massively over, although not as over as they were a few months back, and they have had some of the best matches of the year across the board. But oh no, Bald is an idiot on Twitter (unlike the Bucks and Omega, who famously are so mature and graceful on social media), so TK should fire their ass.
  19. I thought that was an excellent match tbh, best of the night and for me, far better than the trios match - but then the latter was not worked in a style that I like. Can you blame him for being checked out though, the man was supposed to be on vacation early September, and he has had to keep working for reasons completely unrelated to his own self.
  20. I know some brothers here don't like him, but Mox really is the heart and soul of this promotion
  21. Very disappointed by Becky Lynch's numbers. To me she is a sureshot HOFer for historical influence and drawing alone, as has been shown very well by @ethantyler in this thread. I understand the argument that it might be too soon for her, but 20% is way too low. Edge and Randy Orton, guys who were never the top star in WWE the way Becky arguably was in 2019, got far more votes than Becky, as did the Hardy Boyz, which is crazy to me.

Beat OC for the All-Atlantic title and then beat up fools every week on one of their shows. They have plenty of veterans and good hands who can be used for that, in both promotions owned by TK. Also book him in fun hoss battles and champ v. champ matches - both Joe and Wardlow will probably have titles by the time he returns, the big lads boys can then fight. Eventually put over Ricky Starks or Powerhouse Hobbs to help elevate them into a permanent upper card fixture.
  23. They might compete in the heavyweight division, but they are not heavyweights. I thought the original point was that the smaller wrestlers are always more "technical" (agreed about it being a gimmick though) than the big lads, so we were trying to find a bigger guy to compare Regal with. It's why I mentioned Josh Barnett.
  24. None of them are proper heavyweights though
  25. I was going to mention Thatcher as a possible candidate for best technical heavyweight of the past 30 years, although it's a different grappling style. I know some who also rate Barnett very highly
