AEW TV 1/4 and 1/6 - The One Where Danielson Wrestles Nese
Migs replied to Timbo Slice's topic in AEW
I will say, doing that match would be totally in line with Tony being a DVDVR guy. He owes it to all of us to rematch the best indy feud of 2001-02. -
Could also explain why Khan was willing to let them lose to Dragon Lee, even when he knew he was going to WWE.
-
Sort of hard to remember because it's all happened in the COVID era, but Ospreay already has two Wrestle Kingdom losses to Okada in pretty great matches. Him finally winning the big one next year would make a lot of sense, especially if he's signing long-term. It also really seemed like he got to a new place with fan engagement during this match that will serve him well.

This is part of what I love about AEW - because the environment is a bit looser and less hyper-controlled than WWE, you get these weird bits of spontaneity sometimes. Now, this one isn't all that productive from a wrestling perspective, but it is admittedly kinda amusing.

Just leaning in super hard on the wrestlecrap. I'm perversely intrigued, and if LA Knight doesn't come out looking great, its just LA Knight, he'll be fine.
-
Two champs from AEW just did a job to a guy who then announced he was going to WWE so, uh, perhaps AAA isn't the most judgmental.

Not everyone can be booked strong at all times. If Wardlow can never lose or be made to look slightly weak, he's honestly worthless as a character long term, unless they think he's going to be a tippy top guy.

I'm with you. Felt the best of 7 was starting to get stale when they went to the gimmick matches, but the Falls Count Anywhere stip really allowed those guys to be at their creative best. Very fun match, and I'm always excited for Young Bucks ladder matches.

Meltzer said TK decided late that he needed Tay for Dynamite.

Could it have anything to do with BCW being a Rob Feinstein production?

Young Rock: A New NBC Sitcom About the Life of Dwayne Johnson
Migs replied to C.S.'s topic in Pro Wrestling
One thing bothering me on this show that I'm struggling to research - what is the story with Rocky Johnson in Saudi Arabia leading to him getting turfed by the WWF? It seems like it may be sorta true based on the accounts online but nothing is actually descriptive on what happened. -
Tyson is a terrible counter example, because he's a far bigger star than the Briscoes. A lot is forgiven if people can be a needle mover. On Gage, it's highly possible that flew under the radar for WBD executives. There was no attempt there to sign him to a long-term contract, so there may have been less diligence done. That Gage did one show doesn't mean WBD execs have to let everything in the future slide, especially a long-term contract. FWIW, I do think the Briscoes shouldn't be banned - people get to grow and change, and one comment really shouldn't blackball someone forever on its own.

The Gentleman Villain with Willian Regal
Migs replied to The Thread Killer's topic in Publications and Podcasts
Conrad and his ilk are so weird with that. It's like doing research and looking only at newspapers at the time and not, ya know, any research or firsthand accounts published after. Heck, sometimes they'll quote stuff that Meltzer himself corrected! -
Has she gotten better from a wrestling perspective?
-
They are literally doing their next PPV in San Fran.

Bummed to be right about this one. Match was good, although the lack of a cheering crowd seemed to hurt until the very end. Hoping they are saving FTR-Aussie Open II for a spot down the line where it can main event (maybe in England or Australia?).
-
Suzuki announced that Suzuki-gun was breaking up at the end of the year. Wonder if he's going freelance.
-
I am a little terrified of Goto/Yoshi-Hashi winning since they dropped the fall to Aussie Open in the group stage. Really want Aussie Open-FTR again in the Dome. The card also has Karl Anderson defending the NEVER Title against Hikuleo (if Anderson's working the Dome, presumably we'll learn his opponent), Lio Rush and YOH against Ace Austin and Chris Bey in the Junior Tag League finals (both teams have been good and I really like the Rush/Yoh team) and presumably some other angles for the Dome.

The last time I watched I found the poor production incredibly distracting, which is frequently an issue for NJ's US shows. Merge the two shows / rosters and give them better production, and you probably have something like the old ROH in terms of show quality.

It goes back to 2002 and has for a while. Joe vs Kobashi is on there (https://www.watchroh.com/details/27924). I think at least some of the trilogy is on there, haven't looked for it. The catalog is not complete, and the early years are laid out pretty oddly (and some of the best stuff is on the compilation tapes). Haven't played around with the new layout, maybe it'll be easier to search for stuff than the old one.
-
Okada-Omega 3 (if the trilogy are the title matches) is also the best of the series, although I think they're all pretty close.
-
A thousand agreements.
-
Confirmed, they'll be defending against the winners of World Tag League (teams currently in the running: Aussie Open, Sanada/Naito, TMDK, Goto/Yoshi Hashi, Yano/Tanahashi).

Well, maybe they could let contracts lapse on some of the guys that have been there forever. Do we all really still need Dolph Ziggler? Not to even pick on him specifically - but there's plenty of guys who aren't going to generate any real value for the company and I'd rather they be trying with new guys. (Also, they have a shit ton of money, so if they pay out a Ziggler type's contract and just use him on house shows, that's a win for everyone.)
